After what I've seen today, It's gotta be the Portal ending. I came into his house this morning and saw the end song.

Final Fantasy X ending was epic, probably my favorite in the series (though extremely sad too).

Grim Fandango:[hide]The main storyline deals with corruption in the Department of the Dead, an afterlife bureau that exists to make sure that those who die get the four year trip to heaven they deserve. The best souls get a ticket on the Number Nine train, which takes them there in comfort. Less fortunate souls end up in a boat, or, in the worst cases, have to walk. There are a few corrupt agents within the Department who make money by cheating people out of their train tickets and selling them to people who were so bad in life that they'd end up going straight to hell. At the end of the year you reach the train station at the gates to heaven, just in time to see a train full of stolen tickets arrive. At the very last moment the tracks bend and the train plunges straight into hell, with the station attendant calmly explaining that you can't buy your way into heaven.[/hide]

Ah, I loved that game! Truly a great storyline. Was amazing to play from start to finish. So dark and yet so innocent :)

Probably the last great adventure game, worth playing for the dialogue alone:

Glottis: Well, actually, it's mostly stock, with a few mods here and there...

Velasco: So would those be glass packs I'm hearing, or turbos?

Glottis: There was this one high-pitched whine it was making--really grating noise, you know? And I searched and searched, but I couldn't find the source of the noise, until we pulled in here.

Velasco: Was it the blower?

Glottis: No, it was Manny screaming in the back like a cat tied to a cruise missile.

Probably Bioshock, both endings were good. I just loved the ending to "Tetris" though...so heartwrenching, yet action-packed....

Gotta be Guitar Hero 3, what's better then standing up on a huge stage by yourself rocking out to Through the Fire and Flames!?

The ending to Jade Empire was fun, especially since you did the same exact thing once before and...returned to do it again. Not to spoil anything, but it's fun to come back from the dead for revenge.

Then there's the original Metroid. I know I'm not spoiling anything by saying "WHOA! Samus is a girl???". But I never knew Samus was a girly-girl, a blue-eyed blonde as opposed to a grisly warrior, until I beat Metroid Prime.

Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.

Final Fantasy X ending was epic, probably my favorite in the series (though extremely sad too).

currently playing through first time, im also right at the end of X-2, i should have played X first

i liked God Of War II[hide]sad that Athena died but when it showed all of the titans climbing up Mt Olympus, that was awesome[/hide]

Planescape, the way the story made you care and wonder through all those hours about the true identity of The Nameless One, and just to see the ending of that compelling storyline. How they with such small means made the game feel epic is astounding.

Command and Conquer 3's ending was great.

FFX and KOTOR were my favorites.

It is a tie between FFVI and FFIX for me

[hide]FFVI has an excellent ending because it shows just how much all the characters have developed as both friends and as people themselves, giving end to one of the best character defined final fantasy games.

FFIX had an interesting end. I found myself still getting over the fact that I defeated the large boss while watching Zidane still try and save Kudja. It turns out to be a happier end for everyone.[/hide]

Even though this isn't my thread, I'd like to remind people to use Hide tags. Even small spoilers can take away significantly from some games.

Planescape: Torment Spoilers within:

[hide]One of the things I loved about that game was how it wasn't about saving the world or rescuing a princess. The whole game was about some guy on a very personal, and very intense mission. There were like 5 endings to that game, but correct me if I'm wrong they were all (I know atleast some were) fairly similar as to where you end up. It was a satisfying ending without world peace or flying off into the sunset to live happily ever after.[/hide]

Fallout 2 also had a really fantastic ending, I thought.

GTA: SA, the last hour or so really made you think. Just a few weeks ago my bro was playing through it. I haven't personally for a while, but I watched and that game's story is surprisingly deep and well-acted, with good themes summed up well in the end. I remember one point near the end where there was a very powerful cutscene, and me and both my brothers couldn't take our eyes away (even my other brother who was busy in WoW had to stop and watch).

System Shock 2. Excellent ending.

Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2

For pure evocative emotion no game has done it better than call of duty 4.No game has put you in the role of something other than a bit character(in real world setting) and it touches a nerve with me.

Yeah, I liked that ending a lot.

I also liked the Assassin's Creed ending, which wasn't really an ending, but opened the series up to thousands of possibilities. The sequel could literally go anywhere.
