Why is there BB code in the forum descriptions?

Because we haven't gotten around to fixing them yet.

smilies and a lot of avatars aren't working...

Yes, we realize.

look at that... we really need hide codes.. :(

[hide=doesnt work..]hi[/hide]

btw, where can i edit my profile??

It'll be back, but this is obviously not at the top of the list.

User Control Panel. Link in the top left.

You folks really don't seem to understand that we've spent the entire night (at least for me) getting the board back up. It will of course take some time to work out the kinks.

Seems like TipIt crew is working as hard as they can and I really appreciate their efforts

We don't actually work on the forums - we're only responsible for the main site. But thanks. :)

It's the admins you want to thank for working near enough around the clock to get things to the (albeit, compromised) state that we're in. They've really worked hard, so cut them some slack. Bare in mind they've lost 3 months of hard work thanks to this data loss. It takes a lot to have the motivation to rebuild something that's been taken away from you like that.

For those who don't like things as they are - see what this place is like a few weeks, and see if you still dislike it, I won't question your decision to move away. Give things a chance to work out, though. If the smilies are annoying you, tick the little box below the box you write your post in.

Just thought I'd just say a 'have fun' to the staff working on this. I know many don't give you recognition for this and want everything now now now. It is going to take time people. I'm over the moon that we even have forums back. It will all smooth itself out within a few weeks

Marshalrusty, don't get deterred by these individuals that want change right now. There will always be people that are rude and inconsiderate, like the ones that want to sue you for breaking their ribs because you were busy saving their life through CPR. Don't worry about those people. I'm just glad that you and the others could get the boards back up so rapidly. ;)

Thanks for all the hard work to get TIF back up again!

I do not know if I'm just looking in the wrong place or whatnot, but, while trying to fix my blog, I noticed that you can't change the thread name anymore (changing the subject only changes thetext at the very top of the post).

Again, thanks for all the hard work! Keep it up!

EDIT: It seems to be fixed now. I'm guessing I was just looking in the wrong places and being bumb, though. :XD:

The quote button appears over the little banner which says 'online'. We also lack the ability to upload avatars directly to the forum (however you can use tinypic or a similar hosting service).

It does not accept animated Uzzisoft pictures; it expects, as the pictures are animated, them to be .gif but Uzzisoft random pictures are always .jpegs.

1) They aren't animated. They're randomly spit out by the Uzzisoft server under the same file name to make it appear like a random image. There is no animation involved.

2) Jpeg doesn't support animation, hence #1.

3) Your sig is hosted with Uzzisoft and is working fine. (Edit: And after posting this reply your sig showed up with an animated image, which is also working fine)

Well, the Falador Library is gone. 0.0

I think it'd be nice to get that board back up. We were just getting rolling, too. =P

1) I'm talking about my avatars, all of which are animated. There is animation involved.

2) No matter which filetype you upload to Uzzisoft, whether APNG or Tiff or whatever, the location of the picture always ends in .jpeg. I know Jpeg doesn't support animation.

3) My sig is hosted with uzzisoft, but most of my sigs are jpegs. As for the animated one, I have an explanation for that:

Either a) The signature validating script does not check signature content for filetype correctness, as it does avatars, or B) It does check, but when it checked, received one of my .jpeg signatures from the Uzzisoft server and naturally did not notice the one animated one. All of my avatars are animated .gifs, and it does check for filetype correctness.

There is no link to Browse your computer for your Avatar.

Can't edit Location...

Will post more when I find it...

(Btw, I'm not at all keen on the new forums, but thumbsup to the Tech dudes!)

It would appear that Tip.It's "Avatar Upload" function is disabled at this time. You'll need to host your avatar off-site, at one of those image hosting places. I personally recommend http://www.photobucket.com over any other, just due to how awesome it is to organize and control everything.

@ Main Topic ---

BTW, bug-wise, I noticed it is not possible to access a Global Announcement through the "Announcements, Rules, & Security Warnings" Forum, then reply to it. It appears that you have to access through "General Discussion" before you can reply to it, and I think that's a bug needing a good squashing.

BTW, I'm glad to see the forums back up and running. Heck, I'd use some emotes to exclaim my excitement, but that jerk that ganked the forums blew them away.
