Does runescape have an elitist community?

looking at the high scores its obvious that there are a lot of people for whom runescape is a major (probably the major) part of their life. Now, there are only a few runescape communities like tip it, runehq, RSOF etc.

So if these highly ranked players spend so much time on runescape, it stands to measure that they are also likely to be a member of a community like we are. So where do they go? do they have secret community?

I know some high level players contribute under a pseudonym to avoid spam, but its unlikely this accounts for 10,000 people. I am also aware that tip it has some highly ranked players. but again i dont think this doesn't account for 10,000+ players, even over all the different help sites

Do you think jagex has ever been in contact with the very well known players?

Did you know: over 10,000 people have over 2000 total skill level

Yup. In Zezima's real house is a bookcase. Pull the book titled "History of Runescape". It will reveal a "Zezcave". There will be statues of Runescape Legends going down a long hall. At the end of the long hall will be replica skill capes on the walls around a circular table. On the table will be name cards labeled "Zezima", "Yogosun", "Villandra", "Axe Man Jack", and "Andrew". This is where they eat pizza and speak of "pwning nubs".

No offense to anyone in the above story. i actually fully respect AMJ and Villandra.. Everyone else, bleh.

I'm sure they are in contact with some players such as Zezima when he went to clear the PC riots and took people to his house.

But thats only a thought.

There's no secret high level clan, there are high level characters in normal clans. So players like clans, some don't. Also Jagex does not communicate directly with it's players, that would probably be against some kind of Jagex rule.

EDIT - Signature far exceeds our sig limits but since it's so colourful you can keep it.

Gosh a secret clan for high leveled players. :ohnoes:

But I doubt it.

and yes I think jagex staff have contacted high leveled runescapers before just for the thrill. Maby the Jagex staff are those high leveled players too. :ohnoes:

Yeah.

Oh and yes we do have lives too, kthxbai.

I'm sorry, i didn't mean to offend, or imply anything. I just find it hard to imagine achieving something like 99 slayer and not seeking out other people who went through the same experience.

Having 99 slayer isn't the same thing as being an alcoholic.

Yes it is? -.-

And yes, there are secret elitist rs groups/clans/communities, but peope here on tif don't know much about them.

I know of elitist slayer, castle wars and farming groups, but there are many others.

All those high level players do tend to just fall into the background. They are part of normal clans and communities, but you probably don't recognise them.

Also, compared with the amount of people who play Runescape and the amount of people on community boards like tip.it, the majority of players don't come to these boards, so you can't expect to find people here.

Also, like has already been mentioned, they may just want to play the game and not come to forums. They may also just go to the official forums.

Actually us 99 slayers do have a secret club :3

But OT: plenty of high rankers are part of the large communities. Look at the tipit runehead list and you'll see some high rankers there. Chenjs2 is an active poster on these boards and they're on the front page. n0valyfe used to post here also. The reason you probably think they stay away, is because there are so few high rankers compared to people with 1k-2k skill totals. remember the top 1k ranks on the highscores make up 1% of everyone highscored for total level. Thats before considering the amount of people that aren't highscored.

Well actually, plenty of "famous" players post here quite often. In fact, Empror1 is quite a passionate and active member of the Tip.it community. ::' If you must, Thehate and Zezima post here once in a while as well, not to mention Andrew and Paul.

How do you define a high lvl player? :) 99 in everything?

you (2000+ is hard for me to concieve), don't get me wrong though, i think its something to be proud of.

Even if there are 100 high lvlers on these forums and we assume similar numbers for other well known groups, i don't think it covers everyone. oh well, ive been wrong before.

I still think an elite community is possible. Each new 90 or 80 lvl i get i expect a personlised message from jagex marking the achievement like when the queen sends you a letter when you turn 100. just because it is an achievement.

High levels aren't any more "elite" then high levels. High level clans exsist and are possible, but there isn't some bigger knowledge. If I was a high level and there was community that people inside of it considered that they are elite, I wouldn't join.

Within the high levels and celebrity players there is a fair bit of interaction, but it's more of something that came about rather than some big organized plot for world domination (muhehehehe)

The vast majority of "page1" players come from the time the game was allot smaller, and the community tighter, and it's because of that that they know each other, of course though that is not true for all the people, but there is still a good amount of integration between them

Exactly. Many of the high-leveled players have been playing for years and they stem from a time when the community was a lot different. It goes without saying that they knew each other better... and that they still form communities on their own. They pushed each other up in the high-scores, just like players race between themselves now. They're often the players that were the first to do everything. We (meaning, me, RS2 product) only walk the paths they've already cleared.

But to call that an elitist community? I think lower leveled players who date from RSC are involved in such communities as well. So elitist would not refer to their total or levels.
