New Runescape Review.

Well thanks Sean Hannity... but what qualifies you to be a video game critic when you are neither an avid player or professional reviewer?

Nonetheless, you seemed unbiased in your summary of the game. I'd recommend revising the 3/10 rating for graphics once our new update is released.

You can't write a review about RuneScape unless you play it for fun, and play some of the minigames/skills that make the game enjoyable. If you play RuneScape for a week, unless you're no-lifing, you'll be a noob who is slowing going up in the RS community.

If you don't like the F2P worlds, get membership (as you said in the review)

The whole game is getting a graphics update soon...(I hope)

Also, the F2P version is not much of demo, rather a second-hand version of the P2P version. It has a lot of the key parts, but it lacks much of the content members get.

Also, there are several errors in it:

-The economy is volatile or unstable, not exactly the same as fragile

-How do the skills tease you about members?

-You won't understand the game unless you get membership (in my view)

-RuneScape was developed by Andrew and Paul, not Jagex...Jagex bought the game AFTER it was created.

I believe Andrew may have created JaGeX, but I might be wrong.

For someone who has 3 skills ranked to write a review on the game as a whole is kinda slanderous to me...

I love the fanbase rating at the bottom however. Ha ha ah, as you post on Tip.it (a fansite). :wall: :wall: :wall:

I liked you remained unbiased for the most part, if not all, of your review. But your ratings seem a little too low, and I believe it's because your experience in Runescape is a little, lacking so to speak, as some have already pointed out. It's hard to write a good review about a game such as Runescape if you aren't an avid player, or at one point were one.

I lol'd when I read that.

Pirate Rosetta stone. Learn a language while you scape.

Sounds interesting, but these days how many people really speak Pirate?

his score for graphics are so off.. This game has an 10 for graphics because its the only java game with so much details in it

No.

Just because it's on a different platform from it's competitors does not give it an excuse to give it a better graphical rating.

It's still ranked 2-4 out of 10, while WoW, AoC, or Rappelz are at 7-9 out of 10.

Doesn't matter how you create it, what matters is how it's presented.

Jagex is Andrew's company, he owns it and Andrew created Jagex to run RuneScape, nobody bought RuneScape .... don't be telling people off if you don't know anything.

The goal of Runescape is to complete the quests that are scattered at random points throughout the world. Many players aim to max out their skill levels and rake in as much gold as they can once they have completed the quests.

You're acting like the whole point of Runescape is quests. This is completely untrue. I for one, hate quests, but I still love Runescape. I love to skill, monster hunt, play mini games, hang with friends, and do PvP. I don't know how you can say that the goal of Runescape is to complete all the quests. You can do whatever you want, and make your own goals. If you simply "won" or "completed" the game once you finished all the quests, I think a lot of people would be rather disappointed. You choose your own goals in Runescape, whether it be getting 99 in a skill, getting a certain amount of money, or whatever.

I can bash anything too, just give me a topic, give me the worst version of it and a week, and I'll write up a review leaving out any good aspects I may encounter

Seriously though, don't write a review until you're p2p and above 40 or 50 in every skill

I think the 3/10 on graphics is a little biased, as you do not take into account that this is an Internet Browser-based game tailored to almost any computer, and therefor the graphics need to be of a certain quality. Definitely rewrite it based on the Graphics update we should be getting in a while.

Taking a Playstation 3 break.

All who vote that this kid is an idiot, and needs to play a game for more than a day before writing a review like this?

the trick is to balance all of these methods to get 99 and either play real life or train another skill while farming.

Let's clear a few things up.

1) I have been playing Runescape for two years now, for an around an average of 12 hours a week. This last month, I've lost interest in Runescape, and I've cut down to maybe an hour or two a month.

2) This review is for F2P - considering that's what the majority of users play. Who cares if P2P is the real game? F2P is entitled to a review too.

3) We are entitled to our own opinions. I didn't think the game was groundbreaking - you do. It doesn't matter, I am entitled to write my own review of the game, from a casual gamers stance, if I wish to.

4) It's no harder to code a graphically intense game in Java, than it is in any other programming language - I know this, as I have been learning both Java and C++ for quite some time. The low graphics are there to allow lower-speced users to play the game, and helping those with a slower internet speed.

5) The ratings are according to other gaming standards, EG: who cares if a Flash game has AMAZING graphics for a Flash game? Compared to the likes of COD4 or Crysis, it is nothing.

I said I am not an avid Runescape player, any more. I am a gamer, by nature, and I have been writing reviews, and playing games for as long as I can remember. I started with Innerworlds and Commander Keen, many years ago - and moved on from them.

A few of you have been fair - sure, maybe the rating system hasn't been explained particularly well - but the review doesn't have to be a 100% positive one. The game is fun, yes, but it's not up to other games standards, in a graphical stance, and in some cases, a gameplay stance.

If you w ant to read a 'suck up' review, just head on over to Runescape fansites - This review from a neutral stance, from users (I collected further information from other Runescape players, to help balance my review), and there ARE bad points to the game, as some of you are very well aware.

If you re-read the review, you will see I did mention an alternative goal to Runescape - levelling your skills. Here:

The goal of Runescape is to complete the quests that are scattered at random points throughout the world. Many players aim to max out their skill levels and rake in as much gold as they can once they have completed the quests.

Now grow up, kids. This review is in no way 'PHAIL' because it is not an overly positive one. "OMG! PC Games" obtains up to 5000 unique views a day, so clearly, there is nothing wrong with the content on the site, otherwise, people would not bother to visit.

Thanks.

I can't believe you try to write a review about runescape when you've failed to even try every aspect of the game. You've even insulted Jagex by saying your $5 isn't worth while and you've only played a part of the game that has a population looked down upon, F2P. You've failed at being a wanna be critic and you've failed at writing an accurate review; its full of errors. You've just humiliated yourself for even posting this on a fan-site. You probably won't get any positive feed back here. Your review seemed more boring than playing in F2P.

I'll be generous.

3/10 =D>

I fail to see how not enjoying the game suddenly makes my review a pile of cabbage?

Further more, F2P, in itself, is a game. I can write a review about that - Around the same amount of money a month, could unlock XBox Live for me, which allows me to play unlimited games online. For a game with the simplicity of Runescape, I doubt any of my money is worth it.

I am entitled to write my own reviews - I am entitled to my own opinions. I can dislike the community, trading system, battle system, or whatnot to whatever degree I want.

Moderators, please lock. It's just attracting flame. Clearly you can't have a adult conversation around here, without childish comments such as: "PHAIL DIS REVIEW IS SO OUTTA ORDER" (One of the comments I've just had to delete off the comment system on my site).

I expected more from Tip.it, I really did. Clearly, the average IQ here, is not much higher than that of the official Runescape forums.
