WONGTONG IS THE BEST AND IS MORE SUPERIOR THAN ME

#1 Wongtong stalker.

Im looking for some No Limit soldiers!

None so far.

But I don't see why you made this topic, it's just going to turn into a flame-fest.

Anyway, I gather that hatred of a genre generally stems from ignorance of the genre. If you actually go to the effort of asking for some recommendations from a few friends, and give it a chance, you'll probably end up liking it--or at least tolerating it.

Cool.

None so far.

Agreed. That being said I still can't get myself into country, go figure. Although, I really haven't tried.

I like some country, I like some rap, I like some pop, I like some electronic music, but for the life of me I can't get into R&B. So I guess you can say I can't stand R&B because whenever I hear it a piece of my soul literally dies.

R&B made me into the heartless cynic person I am today. :(

Rap,Hip-hop etc.I mean how is calling a girl a b---h or a w---e romantic in anyway?

The Eleventh Commandment:Thou Shalst only say "Amen, brother".

Amen, brother

Amen, brudda (referring to the 10th commandment)

amen Bruder! (german ftw)

I'm invulnerable to everything, except Lenin and Dragoonson.

That's impossible.

I love people.[/hide]

You aren't looking into it hard enough. I don't claim to really be a fan of rap, but I don't think it's a horrible genre.

I like some country

What would you recommend? I hate the modern stuff that plays a lot just because it's so damn stupid. I think some of the more talented earlier artists I could get into though.

I can't stand electronic dance music.

"Metal isn't about violence or faggy whiny lyrics. It isn't even about who plays the heaviest and fastest. It is about invoking a sense of wonder and magnitude that no other genre can depict."

Rap (takes less talent to be a rapper than any other genre) and country, just because I don't want to hear about BBQ and little billy...

Oh, and EMO rock/heavy metal...I cannot stand songs like those...

hatsune-miku-wallpaper-49-1.jpg

I manage to find no redeeming features in Country whatsoever. I can stand some rap though. As a metalhead I despise all of the hipster sub genres: (metalcore, deathcore, grind, etc.)

Metal fans, check out my band!

Poopingman.png

Still the King....

I'm more of a Rock/Metal fan, but I do enjoy hearing a good Jazz and Soul song here and then. I don't mind listening to Rap, Hip Hop and R&B, but I find that I don't listen to it as much as I did.

=[ Country bashers! I'll admit, some of the newer stuff is pretty bad, but from 5+ years ago, country was really good.

I disagree. I absolutely can not listen to screamo. I've tried, believe me. But anything even remotely hardcore (think of Disturbed as the limit, and even then there are songs I skip), I have to turn off. Death metal, black metal, dark metal in general are all things I can't listen to...There's actually very few genres of songs with Metal in them that I like (power metal isn't too bad).

Nadril, I have to disagree with you on the rap part. There are very few rappers, or indeed anyone from that or related genres (hip-hop, pop, etc), who can even get close to being considered good.

And as for country artists, try to find something that isnt too modern (like, before '04). It all depends on how you like to listen to music. If you want slow songs, listen to some Keith Urban. Something faster would be like Chattahoochee by Alan Jackson. If you want faster, go to the Devil went down to Georgia (Charlie Daniels Band...alright, southern rock, but he did country too)...Just going from memory here (alright, I forgot the artist for Chattahoochee).

Other Artists:

Shania Twain ("I feel like a woman")

Brooks & Dunn ("Hard Workin' Man"; "Rock My World (Little Country Girl")

Tim McGraw ("Don't Take the Girl" [really sad song];

Trace Adkins ("Honky Tonk Badonkadonk"; maybe "Songs About Me)

So you sucker punched a kid in the back of the head? Good job.
What scares me is that you're like 10 years old.
-.- im not that freaking young
You were a couple years ago.
It's not racist if its true.
Hmm... I wonder how one goes about throwing someone out a window in a mystic fashion :-k

The mental image for that is freaking awesome.

Lol, Nadril, you want stupid country? My dad got the Country Heat 2008 CD. It's absolutely HORRIBLE. I mean... There's a song called 'Ticks'. The chorus:

I wanna see you, out in the moonlight

I wanna kiss you, honey, way back in the sticks

I wanna walk you through a field of wildflowers

And I wanna check you for ticks.

I mean... Wow. That's pretty bad.

I also must disagree on the fact that you can like any genre if you get into it. I usually hate country, but I'm into a bit of Ridley Bent and Big & Rich. However, rap and/or hip-hop just turns me off right away. It's not even the lyrics so much, although sometimes those are pretty bad too (Soulja Boy anyone?). Rather, it's just the musical style. I'm a fan of musical skill and technicality - I'm a prog-rock kid, and rap/hip-hop just doesn't do it for me at all in that style. I've never heard a rap song I enjoyed.

Being immature is a part of being mature.

There aren't any genres that I absolutely cannot stand that I have heard something from, anyways.I like at least one band from every genre that I have heard, though I admit, I don't care for much country except for the occasional song by The BossHoss (only the originals, their covers suck). I have not heard any Jazz or Blues, but I'm not very interested to be honest.

Oh, and Nadril: Try the song "Yee Haw" by the BossHoss. I liked it until my mom overplayed it do death, and it seems to have more of a rock influence than mainstream country.

urbestfreind:You obviously haven' listened to any rap aside from what you hear on the radio. The Underground scene is great though. Try Immortal Technique, in particular, the song "Dance with the Devil", or Sage Francis's song "Makeshift Patriot".

@urbest: At least as far as "Tim McGraw" goes I'm looking to get away from that.

And I have a feeling this will just be a bunch of people posting about genres they are oblivious to. Like I said before, I don't really listen to much rap (I loved Saga Francis's Makeshift Patriot) but that doesn't mean the genre is bad, nor does it mean that it takes less skill.

"Weak Rock" i.e. Linkin Park

EDIT: WTH it underlines misspelled words, it didnt 2 mins ago.

Actually, I was thinking of bluegrass. Country is awful except for Johnny Cash.

Heh I always thought bluegrass was like a sub-genre of Country or something.

And I'd have to agree that, at least what I've heard, Johnny Cash is good. I haven't been able to find anything past that.

I don't like country in general, but Johnny Cash is amazing. My mom listens to country, and I have to agree that anything that's been released in the last 5 years or so just sucks. But before that, there was the occasional decent song.

I have no problem with rap, I just don't like the majority of it, mainly hip-hop. It's not so much the style of music itself as what it's about.

What I cannot really stand is pop music; the majority of the time, it's complete and utter [cabbage], nothing else I can say about it. There are rare gems in there, but they're called rare for a reason.

Azvy. what kind of RnB do you hate? The sweet Usher stuff? Or the classic stuff?

I don't hate it, I'd just rather listen to literally anything else whenever it's played anywhere near my vicinity. But yeah, the Usher stuff... all the new RnB "hit" songs the major record labels churn out each week. I don't know exactly how far back RnB goes, but I remember it being quite old (1900+?), so I bet it was alright somewhere down that timeline. Way down.

But if anybody thinks they know some great RnB songs feel free to direct me to said songs' youtubes.

Another music style I can't stand are all those new watered-down "metal" bands that's all the rage nowadays. They're always fronted by some dreamy-looking guy, and he always sounds like the guy from Nickelback, or stupider. And it's always played over guitars with the volume and gain knobs on MAX, and the guy strums up-down, up-down over and over until he occasionally changes to another powerchord; rince and repeat. Takida and Hinder are two bands like that which springs to mind. What's the attraction?

Same here. I also dislike Country, all that Indy-scene-screamo stuff, Power Metal, and R & B.

I can't think of any genre that bothers me, though I don't like really childish music and stuff... Anyway I know a song which combines country and rap. Though I'm not sure about this 100%. Don't know if anyone knows it but it's Tim McGraw ft Nelly, with Over and over. Here's a link http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=temaoKXSVxw

Oh and the most important I like it, I like most R&B, rap and stuff.
