you can no longer tell if somebody is experienced at the game by looking at them(lets be honest, if somebody has a partyhat, you can tell they're experienced players, that, or account traders)

 

having a party hat no longer makes you special, theres no more acheivement in finally buying your nice blue crown. as a level 60 next to you has one too, you dont get the same buzz you would if you were the only one around(which, a lot of the time, you were).

 

 

 

why did jagex put party hats and santa hats in the item lending list? didn't they realise the negative effect this will have?

on a side note, the loaning 'business' a lot of people have set up is utterly stupid.

Sorry, I disagree with all of this. I never thought anything positive about people with party hats, and I will continue to think that way because I couldn't give two [cabbage]s about who is wearing one.

 

 

 

I will agree the constant asking to borrow stuff is highly annoying and has gotten me to the point of wishing it was never implemented. I hope for the sake of all of our sanity, like quick chat, all of the constant talk about it will go away after a few days...

the point is that you could tell that the people were experienced player, because you eaither had to buy them a long time ago for a cheaper price, making you a long time player, or you had to spend a lot of time gathering the money used to buy it, making you a pretty experienced player. you not thinking anything positive or negative abouth them doesnt really have anything to do with that ;)

 

 

 

on topic: it might seem a big threat to the economy at first because of the hype, but i think that it will die down eventually. and bgs started rising all of a sudden when item lending came out, when it dropped 1.1m in the day before it came out :P

Some people also scammed them or even won a bunch in staking sometimes bug abusing, some people also bought theirs for real life cash and some lured people to get them.

 

 

 

You never knew who had one legit back before the ge and item lending so who really cares now, i doubt many people are going to bother lending theirs out all of the time because it gets really annoying.

Disagree, my phat makes me feel very special. It reminds me of the good old days in RSC when I was able to work hard for my rares and feel accomplishments. Now I can just makes tons of money for 10 minutes of logging in near the GE...

 

 

 

PHATs are a great accomplishment to own. I take pride in my rares. I play this game for myself, and could care less what other's care. You should too. Conform to my way of thinking!

Well, you can always show it in the trade window to prove it was yours since you cannot trade borrowed items. With time the whole "can I borrow...." thing will ease off. It's a new feature, so people want to try it out. And you really shouldn't care too much about the market or who has what in a game. It's really not a big deal.

I honestly didn't even know all about the new beggars, and once i set up for my slayer task (Bandos and firecape) I got around 3-4 people following me asking to borrow my bandos. I honestly didn't mind it at first, and just said no, since I wanted to get my task done. By the time I got the the fire giants, I had been asked to let people borrow my bandos at least 10 times, and not everyone took the "No" lightly. I got ridiculed, I was given money offers, and people just really went to far on some. Its very annoying knowing that you can't just walk around in your good armor of your expensive items and get the occasional "nice armor/santa/phat/etc." but now you not only get that, but it is usually followed by a bed to let them borrow it.

Eevery single minute someone from my friends list says "Can i barrow one of your godswords" "can I abrrow your phat" "can I wear your armour" when I say no 90% time they freak out say wow your good friend I'm getting sick of this ready play with chat off but then its even more boring dumbest thing jagex ever did tbh

it's really annoying walkin' around edge/the ge and constantly having people asking "plzzz lode can i borrow that dfs" or "pl00xxxxx z0mg lode lend me furry"! first people are too dumb to read the whole topic about item lending (omg new update let's not read if it's dangerous but go there with 1mil) and don't know how it works or what items are being able to be lended out. yes i know fury can be borrowed but it's annoying if people ask you 5 times in 10 mins :S

Remember when Quick Chat was released (nevermind that it was so flawed at first Jagex had to shut the game down for an hour to fix it)? That entire day everyone quick chat spammed! Everywhere you walked someone was abusing the repeat last sentence key and you would constantly have "w00t!" filling up the chat box.

 

 

 

It is a hype. Give it two weeks and the spam will die down and mostly be limited to the Grand Exchange just like Quick Chat. Until it does, ignore it. It will eventually probably benefit Runescape in some way. It is not exactly new that we have noisy immature players in Runescape. :roll:

Eh, I don't really agree. Of course it's all about personal opinion. I adore party hat, always have. It's one of the items I have always wanted, even after I lost my green to a hacker. And they don't really show who's experienced in the game, that for me comes from stats. Anyone can merchant enough money for a party hat but only those with persistence can get 99 Runecrafting.

 

 

 

And for all the people screaming "pl0x for phat", simply turn everything to friends, easy as that. And after all, the economy really wasn't meant for party hat, they were for fun something to just play with not for wealth.

The price of rares shouldn't be affected too much, but then again, the entire rare market is controlled by pure speculation.

I so agree, There used to be a way to class people with the items they were wearing, All gone now. Next thing you know you'll be able to borrow Skill capes.

About begging: Pretty annoying, but most of it will go away on its own

 

About phats: I can't speak for other people, but personally I couldn't care less about people with phats. What's interesting is when you achieve a goal yourself. When people see a phat they think "I'd like one like that". Nobody is interested into worshipping other people, there's absolutely no point and no fullfillment to it. Just makes me laugh that people think because they have lots of gps/a nice skillcape/rare/GS that people will suddenly care about them. Objectively, it sure is a nice achievement, but people still couldn't care less about you. Noboby would shed a tear if a stranger that has had some success in a game died tomorrow in a car crash.

One friend of mine let me borrow their saradomin sword for a few hours. I was testing it out in the duel arena to make up my mind about buying one. Sure, its a better weapon than I had previously thought, but have your public chat spammed with "let me borrow your godsword for one duel" or "gimme joo sord!!!11!!" really showed me how much the lending system affected the runescape population. I couldn't imagine the annoyances a real partyhat owner would get. Maybe the spam will die down in a week or two, who really knows?

after playing for 6 years, I quit runescape. I have nothing left on my account due to the fact I gave it all away to my friends...

And I still don't understand what's so special about being a "experienced player" in the first place. Everyone, not matter their experienced, is babied equally by Jagex these days. Which is why I have given up this game. I don't want someone half way around the world telling me how to play a game.
