Duncdars Cockroach Soldier hunting guide!

Cockroaches are a good source of exp and a little money

If may not be so certain of the ability of pwning Cockroach Soldiers,

kill ethier the workers of drones.

Introduction

Ever want to kill those little blighters inside your walls? Have wondered how hard a cockroach's shell really is? Well then this is the guide for you. To begin to kill these you first need to complete the Stronghold of Player Security's little "quiz". THis is simple so don't worry. Well if your 80+ Combat you should came by this place a long time ago. I', no trying to discourage lower levels but I do recommended a fairly high ocmbat in order to fully reap the rewards!

Getting there

rs3iq4.png

Red line:This is the way from Edgeville bank.

Blue line:This way is from The Varrock bank.

Dotted yellow:If you 31+ prayer and use all your prayer or just want to get fully charged you can do it at the Monastery.

Use this to locate the Stronghold of Player Security, the only place where cockroaches may be slain.

This is the entrance i like to use to get in. There is a rift by it that I guess is quicker. Actually the rift is a whole lot quicker, I'm used to taking the long way.

You then go to the cell with a broken door and go through the painting to get into the actual dungeon.

Equipment: I recommend 75+ cb for these brutes. With atleast 60+ in Strength, attack, and hitpoints.

rs4zb6.png

This is a general f2p set-up. The battle axe can be changed to any other weapon, I like the b-axe for it's strength. And as for the cape in f2p about the best ones are team capes. You probably don't want to range these with like 40-50 range. they'll eat you up, roach soldiers shoot a black blob out theirs butts when you get out of melee range. It generaly hits 7-11. Rune scimitar, gauntlets, and zerker works very good. Also anchovy pizzas are much better if you can afford a mass amount of them. Ignore the Rune Battle-Axe and the Strength Amulet can be taken out for the Rune Scimitar and the Power amulet!!! At the time I first made this guide My Strength was low so I maxed my Strength with the B Axe and Str. Amulet.

Food:

I use lobster, but some view it as a waste of money so you can add or subtract how many you want according to you combat level, you can also change what type of food you use. Some can just use tunas, salmons, and other lower foods. For the eighty plus combat person you can probably use tunas much better whilst saving money.

Barbarian fishing method: This method gives unlimited food, as long as you have bait, or feathers left. To do this method get any type of rod (fly or reg) and it's corresponding type of bait that it takes. For a fly rod you use feathers, and for a regular rod you use, well bait. After you run out of food you fish for more and cook it, a very easy method but you it might shorten your trip due to the low hitpoints they heal.

Ranging

I don't recommend you use the Range skill for these. They is no really confirmed safespot in the places where I fight. I use the lowest level in which the safety gloves are found. But if you must blow off my warnings then here is a base set up:

equipui5.png

For food, well since there's no safe stops you might find it wise to bring a full inventory of tuna. I don't know why people use Rune Full Helms instead of a coif.

The General Idea of Killing Cockroaches

The are killed because the have a nice exp gained from them and provide a nice bit of money. I can get 40k per round on these things but then again I get nice flow of rune square shields.

Going After Your out of Food

After you run out food and prayer go to the Edgeville bank. If you have a an Explorer ring (3) use cabbage-way tele and bank at the Falador bank, then walk back to the dungeon if you wish to have a go at another round.

Other:

Like mentioned before I suggest 60+ cb for them. The also have a good flow of crimson charms for members

Summoning Familers:

This area of Cockroachs is multicombat zone, so you can bring out a familer here to help you kill these things.

Pros, Cons, And money.

Money: The will drop a rune square shield which is their best drop they have for some nice money. They also drop rune scimitars but they aren't worth as much.

Law runes are also a common drop with these roaches. The average 'Scaper should get about 5-10k On a singal trip. I you happen to be lucky and get the Rune Sq you can get about 20k-45k a trip.

Pros:Apart from money these also have a nice amount of exp to give.

Cons:If you try to run away they will hit you with a weak range attack that hits up to 10-11. They also pack a decent melee punch so make sure you don't get to low on hp!

The range of how much money money you can make is all over the place, it really comes down to luck. But of course the ring of Wealth (M) increases your chances of getting higher priced items.

I can fight these things with 74 combat and 65 combat. So...They aren't that difficult, really...

8/10. Shrt, sweet, to the point, and I like the swordfish idea, but I do think you should tune it down to lobsters.

Hoping to get a new Signature (with matching avatar) soon. :D

In the meantime...Steam username: )I'll rewrite it later (add me if you want)

I think salmon and trout would suffice for higher leveled people, but you'll have to be level 80ish like awesome400 said. The barbarian fishing spot is ridiculously close.

I think a scimitar is better than the battle-axe for training since it's faster, but people have said roaches are weak to crush (heh heh, that's right. Get crushed under my battle-axe ::' ).

As for gloves, safety gloves, dragon vambraces, and rune gauntlets are all options better than the normal gloves you have shown.

As for food, wouldn't it make more sense to go to the Edgeville bank rather than the West Varrock bank as you suggested?

This is a good guide. However, besides the few spelling errors, you should detail alternative methods of killing these, like fishing your own food, cooking it, and then returning. Or, my favorite (at 53 prayer), is using protect from melee and recharging at the monestary. You use no food and can keep going until your inventory is full. I find it very easy, even in f2p.

Just a quick addition:

Rune sq shields high alch for 23,040gp and they're currently worth about 22,800gp in the GE. So, if you have the high alching skill, be sure to bring along your fire staff and some nats!

Good to know people still beleive in F2P camping through fishing, But you would be surprised. I used to spend a week on karamja fishing, begging for a fire, then killing lessers, got about 7 meds off the island. Then I started fishing in the wildy and heading to greater demons, those were the days when I wore a rune med proudly . . .

OT: Nice guide, but wearing the chocatrice cape is useless. And power ammy is a better choice.

It hits all the basics, however-

Try using melee prayer when you run out of food, and turn it off when your hp is more than 8. just run and put on range protect if you might not make it, i can usually get an other 5 kills or so, but im 88 sooo....

Also, the rune drop rate has been SIGNIFICANTLY gone down, i used to get around two rune drops per trip at 80, now i get one every 4 at 88.

Overall, good guide, i personally use tuna because it heals double digits for less than 100 gp.

ALSO, you're going to want to take more food than 19 swords, ESPECIALLY if you are less than 80, as i think someone said already.

EDIT: I would say use a normal cape rather than team cape, they have the same bonus but you won't see those pesky blue dots now

Finally, all players should climb up the rope in the room with the lever, and then use the rift. it is much, much faster.

Maybe include which spot of roaches to kill, as i think there are 4+

This is a good guide, but it would be even better if you fixed your spelling and added a recommended level section.

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

i'm lvl 64 on my acc and i get bout 5-6 kills bout 5k worth of stuff per load by only bringing 20 salmon lobbs would make trips longer but more cost and tunas waste of cash twice the price of salmon for 1hp more healing but i like the idea of using prayer and just killing rechargeing and then full invent bank. i usally kill with friend.

got my first rune drop off these last night  it was only scimatar.

Good guide for F2Pers, but you might want to add in that members can use these cockroaches for decent experience and to obtain crimson charms, also the area is multicombat so they can bring their familiars to train.
