Noxx
I was told flying in a plane was super scary, so I freaked out before my first ever plane ride (last spring down to Southern California). It was absolutely nothing, tbh. I was like, "Uhh, was that it?"I wasn't just flying in the plane, i was piloting the plane :DWell, i only did a few things here and there, the basics. Getting a feel for the controls. The instructor pretty much did the rest. It was pretty scary. We're using a C-172 which gets tossed around by the wind easily, so you feel pretty sick. I'm not exactly excited about the Stall training and Spiral Descent. I've heard people actually throw up because of it, but it should be fun. Sam
Had a bit of a lazy day. Had a horrid dream which left me feeling rather lethargic the whole day. Just chilled out and listening to some music and a seminar on 'being a man'. 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
stevepole
My university (Arizona State) works hard to make sure everyone has a great first year experience because it's key to getting students to return in the fall. If they have a bad first year, most will dropout or transfer. I did see a few bad match-ups that ended badly because of their religious differences and unwillingness to respect each others personal beliefs. If I were to put a number on it, I'd probably say 1 out of every 10 match-ups didn't work out. I find most people try to make it sound a lot worse then it actually is. i_love_burritos
Ā living in/around uni would be cool.Ā doesnt work that way for (most, around 95%) of students here...Ā Aren't most uni accommodations and/or close to catered 95% to foreign people? obv' they need a home but some of us DO live in this country since birth, I think we have "some" right in accommodation when it comes to it.Ā Nope. I'll use sydney as an example but I assume it's pretty much the same everywhere. You have maybe one or two student colleges (housing) per uni (which can hold a few hundred people -> 2000 people), a large one like USYD has 4-5 of these such colleges some specific to certain faculties. The basis for staying in them is your academic transcript/ other brownie point bullshit. Most people are happy with commuting to and from home-> uni everyday hence why there arent more of these colleges. Ā Intl students already have to pay exorbitant fees, and I dont think they can go to normal housing. They have seperate specifically for intl students (residential colleges). All other I assume rent somewhere close.Ā I'm sure a significant portion of uni students dont live at home but only a few % stay on university related college housing (due to the reasons outlined above : scarcity / price [around 10K a year] and admission criteria.)Ā + renting with a few other people is probably cheaper. Or just staying at home.
Tim
Creepy. 18yo kid died today when he hit a elect' pole only 1km away and was eletrocuted to death.Ā scary thing is, he used to date my sister 3 years ago and I walked past him only just yesterday :|Ā EDIT: WOW. I made 2 separate accounts on a dating site to test something. One had my image but I edited it a bit as well as the profiles details etc etc to sound like a total "jock" with confidence. The other was some random image I pulled off the web of a 19 year old male model, I made his profile have practically nothing and the messages were just blunt short like "hi, whats up?", and even mentioned on the "intimate encounters" that "I am actually positive for HIV if thats a problem.Ā out of 30, none replied to the first, 24 replied to the second with commonly "you have such a hot body", and even the II one's responded "honey, i dun care youv got the looks and that meat is just rite to pound me."Ā WELL....Ā Seems some people really are retarted and narrow minded, after that test im defo telling any one of my friends who use a dating site "you're a [bleep]wad if you do use one" >.< Popoto.~<

Your current accommodation is much, much closer to the uni than theirs. They bring in money to be taxed whereas you only redistribute it or cost the government, depending on whether you're on centrelink payments or not.Ā Their need is greater than your sense of entitlement. Randox
Same in Canada. Most 1st and 2nd years at least will stay on Campus, whether or not they live close. The only exceptions are normally people who would have a 10-30 minute commute, and even most of them will stay on Campus is they can afford it. Once people hit their 3rd+ year, they start moving out into the surrounding area, though for at least some programs (like engineering at my school), a lot of people never move out of University accommodations.Ā I'm trying to think of the numbers from my frosh week, since they had us divided up by residence, with off-campus being their own group. The off-campus were the largest group, but not by a whole lot. A little over 400 off, the largest residences were something like 350, 300 and 250, and another 200 or so between the rest of small residences. The off Campus grows by the year, but I doubt more than 35% of the University is off campus students at any one time.
Iamdan
I went to an event with a pig on the spit, which tasted awesome. I got free drinks and had a good night.Ā Also I came to the realization that ever since I started getting serious in the gym and making decent gains I've been hit on by more and more guys, but the same if not less girls. I find that most guys tend to have very similar tastes, where girls seem to be all over the map in general. So he might be getting hit on by the same number of girls, but they might not all be the same ones.
