My school [bleep]ed me over and I have to drop my Chemistry class I registered for next semester. We have to take a mandatory placement exam for it on the 21st of January. My dorm building is locked (the building meant specifically for SCIENCE students, mind you. Seems like when housing us you should make sure we can have a place to stay when we need to for science classes) until the 22nd and I have my plane ticket there for the 22nd, so even if I were to waste money and buy another ticket I would also have to rent a hotel room for the night, and we can't afford to do that, so I have to drop the Chem class I just barely got. Which means my entire first year is spent taking GE classes and I could have just gone to a community college.

[bleep].

At this point a major change doesn't seem so bad, I was considering switching to BECA already and now it's more tempting.

I totally forgot that while I was at my cousins house, they have Skyrim and I got to see it. Seeing as how I am somewhat bored with RuneScape and only doing some flash powder factory here and there, I think I might be getting this game after all. At least I will be next week once I am back with my PC.

And a first for me. The time between Christmas and New Years is killing me. I want to be home, and I want the celebration to happen already. Why can't it be new years tomorrow <_<

On a happier note, the weather worked out perfectly this year. A nice load of snow right before Christmas Eve, so everything was white but we had time to plow all the streets. And it stayed cold so that we had full snow for Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing day, and it mostly stuck around for a fourth day too. Then it really started to melt yesterday, so that we were getting some green patches, and today it went up to 11C and rained the whole day, which pretty much annihilated any snow that we had left. Couldn't have timed things better. I don't know when the last time we had a white Christmas was, but it was long over due. Now what we need (after new years, I don't want to freeze to death waiting for the fireworks) is some cold weather (perhaps localized to someplace near my house, but not actually at my house :shades: ) to freeze the lakes over so that I can skate on them. Or I could just go to the rink I suppose, and enjoy their non bumpy ice. That's probably better than wishing for colder weather, since we'll get that aplenty and I'm not going to enjoy it.

And next time I'm at my cousins, I need to try out their outdoor hot tub. We somehow managed to not have time for that today, because none of us bothered to look at our watches until it was almost time that we had to leave. Ah well, I've been in hot tubs outside in winter before (great fun  ). Still, that was years ago, would be nice to have another go at it. And you don't have to walk through 30 ft of 2ft deep snow to get to this one, which is a bonus. I guess the latest I'll get my chance is Easter. Some years Easter is super cold, and some years its shorts and tees (the joys of a moving holiday).

I agree, the week between Christmas and new year's is excruciatingly boring this year. Looks like I might be going back to my apartment the 3rd or 4rth of Jan instead of the 8th like originally planned.

I find it funny how I've never seen Sennheiser headphones but it's all I see on these forums. I guess I'm just fine with my logitech headphones.

Same here. The only brands I see at my school are Beats, and the generic Apple or Sony earbuds.

I see so many people walking around campus with Beats or Skull Candy headphones. I usually just chuckle a little to myself. I have a nice pair of Audio-Technica's that will never see the outdoors. It's about listening to high quality music, not a fashion statement. Unfortunately, most people don't get that.

I agree, and most of my things I got for the use of it, not for the fashion statement. Also the fact that my headphones is a Logitech USB headphones beat the quality you find on the basic desktop/laptop motherboard jacks.

I love Sennheiser. Mine sound good and look quite nice imo. I rarely see others with them though...Most people I know have the crappy apple in-ears or Beats. There seems to be no middle-ground I guess.

I do carry around a pair of relatively crappy earbuds for when I'm in the library or walking around.

Skyrim sums up my last few days. I am actually glad I bought this.

I've also noticed many others who got Skyrim as well (judging by the number of notifications of X is now Online, X is now playing Skyrim).

Stayed up late last night looking at my friends' tumblrs. Very time consuming.

And earlier yesterday, I watched a few episodes of the Office.

Today, I am determined to go and get a new longboard. Of course, I've been saying that since Christmas day, and I haven't gone out of the house since then. :\

As soon as I found out about tumblr, I never thought it would be that interesting, but when I got into it a few months ago, it actually became quite time consuming.

Same, got a relatively cheap pair of their headphones for using with my old laptop and a pair of buds for everyday use. Seen a really nice set of Audio-Technica headphones in a shop here that've been tempting me for a while but I don't have the money to sink into them at the minute.

I really don't see the appeal of Beats at all.

Has anyone here had root canal? =/

Yes, I have and was lucky enough that it was successful, however the dentist ran me through in my gums with the drill... he was the worst dentist I ever had though

honestly, it didn't hurt at all until he was about done and the anesthetics started to wear off and i could feel the gaping hole in my gums, but I'm not sure if it was the tooth or the damned hole in my gums...

OP: done nothing but work today, and now I'm lurking around here

I have read that most people find it okay until the anaesthetics wear off. I guess I'm more scared of the pain during the actual procedure. I guess as long as you're anaesthetised properly it should be fine.

I hope it will be, anyway :P

Anywho, today I went shopping. Was hoping for some good sales but I always end up defaulting back to primark where they don't have sales since the clothes are cheap enough as it is. Got a few nice things from there as well as getting myself gym pants and a gym top so that I've got something proper to wear now. Not sure I'm going to get running shoes yet but I think the £20 in proper workout clothes will be worth it :)

I'm sure you can get some drugs to ease the pain afterwards. Whats that one that everyone lies to their GP to get and sell illegally?

Thing that hurts the most is giving you the anaesthetic, honestly. When the dentist says "you'll feel a small pinch", brace yourself for slightly more than that. It isn't unbearable though, kind of like a bee sting or so.

And after that you'll be so numb that they could be shooting you and you wouldn't care.

Of course I've only had fillings, but I'm assuming the procedure for anaesthetics is relatively similar.

The only difference between Hitler and the man next door who comes home and beats his kids every day is circumstance. The intent is the same-- to harm others.

7 hours later and all my work is done. Now I have the rest of vacation to goof off.

Oxycontin?

I'm sure you can get pain relief for afterwards.

I doubt they would give oxies for dental work, but who knows.
