There is the case that I personally don't know such Estonians. Yet, probably, but still.

Really bad word to use in this situation is comrade. Someone more nationalistic than me would set you on fire if you mentioned that word after our current moods in the topic.

 

See, comrade is the word that everyone of us had to use in Soviet times instead of mister or citizen or something like that. It was oppressed on, by the regime, we were told anything else would remind us of those pesky capitalists.

And I am not making this up, that is written in an old childrens' magazine from Soviet times. I really love these magazines, they are hilarious with their propaganda :)

 

And I don't think all the Americans are same, since there are plenty of you with Estonian origins aswell. But on average, your naiveity to outside world is simply staggering.

And don't for one second think that I am naive on outside world. There are bad apples among every nation in every country in the world. But it is just that our cultural sphere is somewhat overflooding with Angloamerican influences that your particular examples get so much wider coverage. And having visited your glorious country of U, S and A myself personally, and with having everyone that I know IRL who has been to America thinking the same way, then there must be some truth to it.

 

Then again, I might be a bit naive on thinking that my own people know outside world as good as I am making it seem.

After all, I go to a top 5 school in Estonia, have been Estonian champion in quizzing and have been on countrywide olympiade finale in geography and biology, so I really don't know about the average people in my land.

Just finished recording, now editing. HOLY CRAP I look ugly. I mean, there are some not-so "omg melt" people on YT, but mine takes the "trying to hard" look. REALLY frustrates me because I can never make myself look the way I want.

Tim, I believe you are over reacting. I doubt you look that bad in the video. I mean, you are freaking over one eyebrow being higher than the other. I doubt anyone would notice, or care if they did, about your eyebrows being off. Besides, even if they did I'm sure once you started talking about whatever deep topic or life altering subject you had it wouldn't of mattered anyway as they would be to absorbed in your words.

You probably also have the camera too close if your getting hung up on tiny details like your eyebrows.

So, fun fact, humans rate themselves two-three points higher (on the ten point scale) in their head. Which is why everyone thinks they don't look attractive in photos, even if others don't agree. Even if you don't think you look good, your subconscious thinks you look better than your conscious.

Good on you! I've been on Fiber Optics for 2 years and it's pretty awesome, although extremely expensive here in Canada. I have 50/30 BellAliant Fiberop for $95/month.

 

Lately I have formatted my laptop and installed Windows 8, and although I miss the start menu (there are programs to have it on win 8), it seems much faster and more stable than Windows 7. I still have to test if I will blue screen when plugging a projector on the VGA port though. Never recommending Asus again, seeing as I have sent it on warranty the first time I had issues, and fixed it the 2 other times, and that I seem to have anoher hardware issue right now that seems to slow down the POST. Never get Asus ROG laptops guys.

@Tim: just post it, yeh nancy! You're not selling yourself well here, you're only going to be as comfortable as you make yourself. I haven't started recording mine yet, but I know for a fact it'll be pretty iffy in quality. And I don't care. I'm doing it because I want to, not to become youtube famous or what have you. I just want to record myself for my own entertainment and documentation.

 

Today I watched "Lovely, Molly" and "Clerks" with my friends after having a nice bonfire. I have class in 6 hours and haven't slept yet. booo.

When I first started vlogging, I got really nervous and started drooling molten tar from my third mouth. It ruined several of my shirts, and it made reshooting a video really inconvenient. But I stuck with it and I am now the #1 most subscribed channel on my dimensional plane's equivalent to Youtube.

 

I think if I can handle molten tar, you can deal with a little eyebrow-lopsidedness. I still say you should probably do at least one or two rounds through windows movie maker for sheer simplicity. It's a good way to get comfortable with the basics before you complicate your life with other features you'll inevitably want to use just because they're there.

 

As for throwing out the script, probably a good idea. If your going to write it all down, might as well do a normal blog. Just have a rough idea what your going to talk about and you'll get a more natural feel. I'd also expect you get more comfortable being on camera, and seeing yourself on camera overtime the more you do this sort of thing.

It depends on what kind of vlog you're doing. If you're actually discussing topics of note, script it or at least have notes about what to cover, but if you're just talking about day to day dull life shit there's no real need to bother with a script because you won't be making any kind of statement or argument.

I don't really think practiciing with Windows Movie Maker is a good idea. Some simple things get really [bleep]ed up when editing with Windows Movie Maker. You should learn Premiere right from the start, with a few YT videos it isn't that hard. It is even quite easy, this basic editing, it just takes a lot of time.

Had a first today. While showing the house to a prospective tennent I got asked "do you like super smash bros?". I'd like to credit myself with barely pausing to consider the question since that would certainly make the list of 'questions I least expect to be asked while house showing'. Still, if they take it, I'll finally have another proper gamer in the house, and that's win. They even have an N64 (my preferred format for SSB because sometimes old things are the best).
