Ok, even if you have one i doubt that emote is so wanted that you have to show it continiously, i don't know why it's so annoying to you, i get asked to show skillcapes 10-15x a day and i always do it, except when people just tell you to do it instead of asking.

Phew, good thing I didn't quote all those quotes, it would have been crazy! Like, seriously, pretty and totally crazy... Srsly...

OKAY, on topic!

I don't get it A LOT, but it's rather insulting if you ask me. Should I sit stop what I'm doing just to please them? No, so I turn it around on them. That usually teaches them, and hopefully, they won't pester other people for their emotes after injected with Cheefoo's patent(pending)ed logic injection. It saves other people time, and saves me from having to tend to these jerks' annoying wants.

maybe this should only apply to members becoming f2p

What do you mean by that exactly?

If someone just commands you to do it EG 'do skillcape dance' then i'll ignore them aswell, but if they ask 'please' why not? Those 5 seconds loss of more xp whatever i'm doing at that time don't really matter to me.

Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.

I already said, I wear the cape for its bonuses mostly. And how am I a "[bleep]" about this? Please elaborate, I want to know what I'm doing wrong.

Okay:

Say "Then dance three times for me." They proceed to dance. After they finish dancing say "There, now you've wasted time like you wanted me to do," then walk away.

Sure, it may not save time, but it'll teach them not to ask for people to waste their time again! Muhaha...

THAT is the definition of being a [bleep]. Even if you're trying to "help them" and "teach them" something.

Dude did you ever consider maybe people like the defence bonuses???

Nope, I didn't. Put a couple more question marks on there and I might think of that faster next time.

Obviously the defense bonuses are fine. If you really want the defenses (yes, without the prayer if you're trimmed) then grab an obsidian cape.

But this is a game of interaction and it's multi-player for a reason. People complain of the game being "more solo than ever" and "not being able to help people as much as you used to". You now have an opportunity to show someone something they've probably never seen before (or at least not a lot) (and they probably look up to you if you've got them beaten in some skills) but we're coming up with a ways to teach people lessons? You're going to use the SAME time, if not MORE JUST to make someone feel bad and more than likely, they won't even know why.

-People train skills to 99, sometimes ONLY for the emote. Do you think they do it so they can show themselves the emote over and over? No.

-The emotes were put there for a reason.

-As long as people are ASKING you and not being jerks about it, whats the big deal? If you're fighting something out in the heat of battle (where you're using the defensive bonuses), no one's going to ask you to do it out there. If you're not in the battle, and at the bank or something, either take the cape off (no defense bonuses needed at edge?) or just do the freaking emote if people ask nicely.

Come on.

Man, I really do love Runescape, and I'm sure if it was a real person I would of asked it to marry me by now.

To be honest, as long as I'm not very busy or in a very bad mood, I'll just go do the emote. It takes less than a few seconds to do and looks cool to watch yourself.

I don't get asked that much anyway.

What if I like watching them dance? They could EASILY go on Youtube and watch all of the cape emotes. Something is preventing them from doing that, and something is preventing me from respecting that annoying choice. I'm just turning the tables on them, and making them see what it's like to waste their time for nothing, is there anything wrong with that, really? It's no worse than what they're doing, that's for sure.

I wear the cape for respect, defence bonuses, and to look better. MANY people would love to come up to me and call me a noob for no reason. I've experienced it before. People will start insulting you, or arguing with you unless you can prove you aren't "just some noob". There's less of a chance some noob/choob/jerk/whatever will walk up to you and start a fight if you have a quest cape on. Personally, I don't appreciate arguments all the time (though i do appreciate them sometimes). People can be very cruel, and I like to do what I can to stop them from hurting my feelings, or me having to hurt theirs.

I also do like the respect, even if it doesn't mean stopping arguments, but maybe attracting compliments. It's nice every once in a while for someone to plainly come up to you, and say "Congratz on beating all the quests," or even a simple "Nice cape." There's nothing wrong with that, right?

Sometimes, it goes from stopping negative, to somewhat positive, to all out begging for an emote. When it gets there, it gets irritating. That's when I tell them to "dance for me" to show them that they can waste their time just like they want me to and get nothing out of it. Usually that gets them off my back, and, I hope, off anyone else's in the future.

It depends on how much time I have. If Im busy, I just ignore them and say nothing. They go away eventually. If I'm not doing much Ill do it. I just think its stupid to get all in a tizzy getting annoyed by it. I get harrassed much more when I have my ags or phat. I just say "lent" and they go away lol.

limdog.png

thew other day i met a person by the name of andy117. he is ranked 24th overall(23rd at the time this happened lol) i noticed while i fished my monks that he was maxed stats. yet all he was wearing was legends cape. and he was really nice. and even in an area as "mature" imo as as we were in he just stuck with his little legends cape. i found this rather cool how modest he was, and this alone gave me a great respect for him.

oh ps. i try to do an emot when ever someone asks

Y_Z.png
A good argument always livens things up for me.

Tsk Tsk :(. That's certainly not the spirit of the game...

Then why do they start them? I only defend myself, even though I might've provoked it. If I was a hot head, like the hypothetical "Emoteploxee" in question, I would be offended by them wanting me to waste my time for them by doing the emote. Sure, I am offended, but I let it out in an ironic, passive aggresive manner, that gets through to them quite a bit better than flat out screaming.

Asking someone to show you their cape emote is not provoking an argument any more than asking to borrow someone's car is a provokation for a violent assault. They just want to see the emote, you're the one looking for an argument. Tsk, I say to you. Tsk.

You're also wasting your own time... and ticking them off. I think it would be more wise to just show the emote that way no confrontations break out.

and circle gets the square

i usually just say "i don't know how, i have been trying to do it for weeks"

then they give me a very nice tutorial on how to use the emote interface, and i give them the goblin dance until they leave

fishing.gif

Tbh, this sounds like a good idea, except I'm going to take out the last part where I turn into a complete asshat. It'd seem like good humor to ask them to dance 3 times and then in exchange I'll swap my cape emote for them.

[blingkachi50]

Or I've got a better idea. Don't wear the skillcape if it's such a pain to do the emote for people who look up to you. -.-

I have this other little trick that I use.. I say 'No.'

That may work, but it doesn't really teach them. If you're in for it for the good of society, you'd put their evil flame out before they annoy countless other people.

Not to mention, it's fun messing with people. But, like I said, it IS FOR THE GOOD OF SOCIETY! Yes, I may sound a little nutty right now, but they deserve wasting their time seeing as they wanted me to waste mine.

You don't seem good for the society yourself.

Treating others like crap because they're intrested in something you worked hard to accomplish....very immature.

It only takes a few seconds and will make some one happy so you might aswell...

just put chat off or ignore them.

or tell them your cape is glitched and doesn't do emotes (thats worked for me a few times)

My usual reply to "emote plz" is just no, if they ask why then I have this "Because no is shorter than yes, s plz is shorter than please" I dont know why but there is something about 'plz' that really annoys me.

I find saying no, or just doing the emote is easier...

but to be honest I don't get asked that often, guess wc capes are unpopular... #-o

You only live twice. Once when you are born and once when you look death in the face.

Do not fear Death. Death is always at our side. When we show fear, it jumps at us faster than light. But, if we do not show fear, it casts its eye upon us gently and then guides us into infinity...

I like being asked to do my emote, it makes me feel good :twss:

I suppose if I had a rarer cape then it would get annoying...
