Naruto_1001
Dear Tipit'ers, The Grand Exchange has been updated today (just like always) but today there's something weird about it, all except for three items didn't move in price. Now why would those three have moved and why wouldnt the rest been changing in price any gp? Personally I think this is done by Jagex instead of by buyers and sellers. Please take a look at the main page of the Grand Exchage Beta http://itemdb-rs.runescape.com/frontpage.ws before you leave a reaction. Ezz
You mean that only granite and the shields changed in price? Well I guess they wanted those to change in price more than anything else. I guess they think granite is overpriced and maybe they think the shields are underpriced from what they've seen being traded since the update. [insert birds flying in a circle here]Yes, that sig was annoying.

pgmr185
I noticed this myself when I was checking in on my investments. I'm kind of surprised by the reaction that you're getting. Nobody finds it strange that the price update went through and only a handful of items showed any change at all? We already know they control the market. Well, of course they do. But usually they do it in a subtle and easily deniable way. Freezing the price on almost every single item in the game is an unusually bold move, even for them. So, I guess the question is... did they do it on purpose, or is it just a glitch? If it's a glitch, then I guess it's understandable. Nobody's perfect, after all. If they did it on purpose, though, I'd find it very disturbing. The whole "players set the prices" line that they fed us will go completely out the window. Madmanpur3
Wow, they did not freeze the prices of every item aside from those select few that were adjusted... it's simply not time for the rest to update. This was a manual move in price made by jagex on items that at the moment are clearly underpriced and clearly overpriced, nothing more. I'm sure by the end of the day all of the other items will get a price update like normal so just hold your horses before you go around claiming they froze the entire market or that jagex is trying to cheat us or something like that. jessy87
another thread to attempt to make jagex look like the bad guy, except they just probably made the GE update the prices on the shield update either more regularly, or decided to change the price manually. Because 10% is HUGEEEEE right? not really, but relatively sure it can be, but thats not the point as for granite, well, it was obvious jagex introduced something over powered so they had to change that. just more CRY CRY CRY threads. Soma2035
Jagex can not control the market. The market is determined by the people who possess, create, or otherwise obtain the product, and the people who desire the product. How many people would sell their whips if Jagex put the GE price down to 100k? Not a darn lot, I wager. 3rd age armor, masks, zamorakian spear, and other items that are impossible to buy are all in the same scenario. They are clearly worth more than the GE value, by the fact that consumers are willing to pay that price. You should no more expect people to trade their 3rd age armor and such on the GE than you would expect yourself to be selling an abyssal whip at 100k if Jagex set that as the GE price. highlanders
Silly narbs, both the merchants and Jagex control the market. Merchants rig the hell out of all the stuff that people buy and make money off of everyone's backs. By the time Jagex figured out what has happened, it's over. Jagex feels compelled to make some sort of action, so they decide to take a random measure destined to "stop" future problems. Measures which obviously, fail, and end up annoying the hell out of everyone. What is there to say? elit9
Do you mean to say the RS-government shamelessly controls and manipulates the market? Well, thank Bog real life isn't like that!!
Makoto_the_Phoenix
Id rather Jagex control the market than merchants. IMO, merchants > jagex At least with Jagex, you figure they'll have some restraint. Jagex only intervenes when necessary and restricts themselves to not wounding the economy; a merchant will bleed the economy dry if he has the means because he was dumped a week prior. SwreeTak
We already know they control the market. Completly true. Jagex have controlled the market in different ways from the day RS was released. And since the GE was released they have controlled it even more. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
Randox
I don't suppose that anyone has considered that for maybe one whole day, people were actualy happy with most all prices and so they didn't change. Anyways sicne were there not changes to the way some things were priced that day (granite and new sheilds), that maybe a market freeze was needed to allow somethings to catch up. jaffarulz
when jagex created the they wanted it to work like a proper "share based" economy the real question is how to abuse this and make lots of money from it... say by getting lots of player say from the tip.it forum to all buy the same thing so it goes up and then sell it..... what on earth made you think to set it on fire?i... um, guess... because it was there
Corn_corn2
It would make more sense to me to have intoxicated 35 year olds control anything then for pre-pubiscant 14 year olds do so. Im in favor of Jagex manipulating if that indeed is what they are doing. Because only a voodoo shaman in Indonesia can tell how low crap would go if nothing changed. *stares at sig* I guess he disapproves.

jettrider
I did see that the other day, and I believe it was an early GE update that didn't include the prices of many items. The early update was probably to make elixirs and sigil-shields tradable on the Exchange. I don't think there was anything more to it. 2496 Completionist
