November 21, 200817 yr 21st November 2008 - Q&As, Charity Auctions and a RuneScape 2009 calendar! A few things to update you on this week first of which is our Question and Answer session with Tom Church, author of the first ever RuneScape novel, Betrayal at Falador. Head to this forum thread now, to ask any question you like (while sticking to the forum rules, of course!), and in two weeks time we will post Toms responses to his favourites. In other book-related news, we are currently auctioning ten signed novels (one per week) for charity. Each copy is numbered and signed by author TS Church, RuneScape creator Andrew Gower, cover-artist Giuseppe Grassi, Lead Game Designer Mark Ogilvie, and Jagex CEO Geoff Iddison. All proceeds from this auction go directly to our chosen charity: The Internet Watch Foundation. The IWF aim to minimise the availability of potentially illegal internet content, so get involved and bid for your copy here. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has already been involved with the auction, and congratulations to the successful bidders so far! Please ensure that all bids are genuine this is a charity listing, after all, and we want to raise as much money and awareness as possible for such a great cause. Lastly, but certainly not least, we have just released the first official RuneScape calendar in the Jagex store! This 2009 calendar features some familiar faces from Gielinor, as well as some never-before-seen concept art. Get yours today by clicking here. Also, be sure to keep a keen eye on the Jagex Store over the next week or two, as we have some fantastic offers planned for the Christmas period. There might even be a dragon-themed item of clothing on the way... When I saw the charity auction I thought Jagex was finally doing something nice... then I saw the charity... more anti-RWT >.< Link to the RSOF thread Now, who's gonna sacrifice their money to tell us what's in the calender? MR. November 21, 200817 yr Yeah i thought it was great they're doing something for charity - after all, they're a multi million pound business so they must have some spare cash ...Then i saw the charity :wall: :wall: :wall: I know they're trying to do something good, but it seems rather selfish as the money they put in the organisation will just go straight towards benefiting them. To be honest i'd rather my money go to starving children in Africa. Thank you to tripsis for an awesome sig!
November 21, 200817 yr I can see how the charities relate with Jagex. I'm just waiting for the author to answer the questions. If I was to buy the calendar I'd prefer a smaller one since I don't have an office nor is my workspace big enough for it. Then again, who would buy a RS calendar for their office? I could only think of a few Middle-School teachers =P~ . The calendar is as big as the advertisement they want to gain out of it  .

November 21, 200817 yr Calendar looks pretty cool :) Might get it for x-mas, as for the charity, not a bad idea.. The books will sell very fast. Slightly off topic ~ I think Jagex do give to charity, although giving to charity isn't one of those situations where it's good to say "look at me, I gave away THIS much money". Whether they do or not, why brag about it?

November 21, 200817 yr LOL at the charity. Another reason, not to buy the novel. When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done. All skills 80+
November 21, 200817 yr I'd rather throw my money out the window than supporting that charity. Seriously, the 'Internet Watch Foundation'? I really hope no one buys that book.

November 21, 200817 yr 1 word: LAME :| Three months banishment to 9gag is something i would never wish upon anybody, not even my worst enemy.
November 21, 200817 yr Whether they do or not, why brag about it? no harm in being proud of doing charity work, plus it might help shift a couple of copies. It's not like they are being uber-crass and spamming it all over the front page, so a couple of quick mentions is fair play imo
November 22, 200817 yr Although I do think there are way better charities then one like the IWF, I still don't see anything wrong with it. I mean, if they amass several million dollars and give it to such a foundation that doesn't need so much then I can understand the stupidity. But really with the novels at around 300 pounds each, any charity could use the sum. Millions go to other charities where little progress is made, so I don't see where the harm is at throwing a little sum at a group that can do something. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.[/hide]Apparently a lot of people say it. I own. http://linkagg.com/ Not my site, but a simple, budding site that links often unheard-of websites that are amazing for usefulness and fun.
