I_am_Geed
Twilight is exactly like Harry Potter, its just a fad. While you all can run around acreaming and fantisizing this thing, by the time something new and popular comes around you'll be saying "Pfft. Forget Twilight!" Overal, it gives unrealistic expectations of men. Thank God my girlfriend is against reading it. Twilight gets a

Overal, it gives unrealistic expectations of men. Thank God my girlfriend is against reading it. Twilight gets a  I will agree Harry Potter was a bit of a fad but it managed to last quite a while whereas Twilight is going to die off fast because it's just a love story. I didn't read the books but I don't think there should be a sequel at all. C'mon: boy and girl fell in love, girl got in trouble, boy rescues girl, they're both happy. It's been done so many times before and I know the end of the movie left off for a sequel but all I'm seeing happening is the other vampire comes after them, big chase scene with poor special effects, boy rescues girl again, they're both happy (again). I won't be going to the sequel because I'm not going crazy over some extremely pale guy with sparkly skin nor do I find the self-loathing lead female role to be anything near attractive. I take your thumbs down and give it 2 more   Internet Marketing For Newbies

I'm thinking some boys over here should read it, :P Palmy boys suck in my opinion. (Kidding, if you're thinking pointing out how sad i'm being) "I'm considered fairly smart, yet if I walked into a university lecture, you think I would be able to contend? No, I'm only 15. That is basically what I would compare this book to. It might look good compared to "first pieces of work" but when you compare it to serious books, which this is supposed to be if I understand correctly, then it is mediocre." It is pretty good compared to some, yes. There are many other series or books that will completely own Twilight, i understand that, but i still like it. : Huh, i haven't read Harry Potter, so i can't comment. We'll sneak out while they sleepAnd sail off in the night. We'll come clean and start over the rest of our lives. When we're gone, we'll stay gone.Out of sight, out of mind. It's not too late,We have the rest of our lives. Lenin64
My mom and her friend saw the movie today. Both described it as "better than a sharp stick in the eye". Command the Murderous Chalices! Flyingjj
I actually saw the movie today, and it really wasn't that bad. I'm very easy to please when it comes to movies though. I'm not sure if I would have understood the movie if I hadn't read the book, though, so that's a problem. I'm not exactly understanding what makes Edward so perfect I guess. He's the hero type, got it, not that hard to be there for your woman. The only expectaions that a guy can't reasonably meet are his "good looks" (I say that cause everyone has different tastes), superhuman strength (I mean, come on, it's a fantasy book), and sparkly skin(again, remember, fantasy book). Feel free to correct me(please do so nicely), but really, there is nothing extraordinary about Edward besides the fantasy elements. I know, personally, that he treats Bella almost exactly the way I plan on treating the woman I get married to, if she likes it so. As time goes by, I'm becoming more and more a fan of the series. Serpent Eye
Out of the entire series, I only read Twilight. I loathed the book. I have no plans to ever watch the film. To me, the film looks like High School Musical, but with fangs. Hardly what I would call a quality vampire film. And I don't think Harry Potter should be compared to Twilight... let alone called a fad. I bought my first Harry Potter book in 1999, and it is still my favorite book series. It turned me from someone with an overactive imagination into a reader. Despite sounding somewhat cheesy, Harry Potter has greatly affected my life. The Twilight series doesn't even touch that, in my opinion.

aquariusman
You are a brave soul for taking on such a task. There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. Thatregret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new, better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret. It's experience. Ouchy
I can't figure out why Twilight is such a big hit here. Almost every girl I know is talking about it and reading it. But, if one of them wants to see the movie with me, then that's different :twss: I suppose it's like Harry Potter in a way, just for girls. ~Ouchy My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. tripsis
I guess we're talking about both the movie and the book here, so I'll touch on both. When I first heard about it, I thought it sounded like the dumbest book that ever existed. Love story.. vampires? Yeah right. I actually teased my sister for reading it. My sister wanted me to see the movie with her, so I did. I thought the previews looked lame and the whole running really fast thing was stupid. I saw the movie and I didn't think it was that great (which wasn't a surprise since books made into movies rarely are anything above mediocre), but I was mildly intrigued by the overall plot, so I gave the book series a try. I got through it in 4 days, and I actually liked it. Parts of it were annoying and not very well written, but I really liked a lot of the ideas. I thought that a big chunk of book one was unneeded and just "space fillers," the second book was pretty bad, and I really didn't like the idea of suddenly switching the perspectives in book four, but that's really the extent of my complaints. Sure it could have been a lot better, but I really don't think it's as terrible as everyone says it is. There are so many worse books out there (don't even get me started on "The Inheritance Cycle") that deserve the criticism that Twilight is getting instead. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
Nom
(don't even get me started on "The Inheritance Cycle") Seconded. Though when forced to choose between Inheritance and Twilight, it's a toughie. I would rather read Inheritance, though it does come out to be slightly the worse of the two, if only narrowly. Also, stop comparing Twilight to Harry Potter. HP is not a fad, is 1000x better written than Twilight, Rowling > Meyer, and it will not pass into obscurity. The first book was published almost twelve years ago now.
