Plasma, it seems like a hollow "box" of white water. Could it be the waterfall from the fairy ring area? I'm thinking of looking there.

B_Ryan, no reason to shoot you lol. I think you have a point though, it was mentioned somewhere.

Common!

I remember you could see Taverly Dungeon from Entrana Dungeon, and there was some part of Temple of Ikov from inside Legends Dungeon. Didn't read the other replies, so I don't know if this was said already.

Nope those haven't been said before, are they still there? I might as well pic them.

Entrana dungeon was shown as being part of Taverley dungeon in the KBase, it was taken away after a few weeks.

[hide=2005 Christmas event near pyramid plunder entrance (underground)]163.png[/hide]

If someone has problems taking pics of an area like these please pm me, I'm really interested in these kind of things

+Where exactly is the pic taken named "Unidentified Beacon Room directly next to Clan Wars FFA" in the first post?

Still there, you can see it from 3 differant places in pyramid plunder but I took the clearest one

I'm gonna take more pics from the minigame and edit this post

Edit: here's more pics that I took along the way, I didn't include the minimap because you just couldn't see or it wasn't needed at all

[hide=I think it's the slayer dungeon, pic taken west of troll generals spot in trollheim]165.png[/hide]

[hide=Just a weird pit-like area that jagex didn't take care of, it's north-west of trollheim herb spot]166.png[/hide]

[hide=H.A.M. prison, taken in lumby cellar]167.png[/hide]

[hide=lumby slayer dungeon/way to guthix tears quest, note that there's a gap and lumby dungeon is on a lower level]168.png[/hide]

[hide=pic taken in pyramid plunder minigame start room, it's probably from contact quest]169.png[/hide]

[hide=north-west of first pyramid plunder room, unknown area to me]171.png[/hide]

[hide=north-east of 3rd pyramid plunder room, it's probably from a quest but I forgot the name]172.png[/hide]

Please add/edit anything you like about the pics

I got the best zoom-out you can get on rs so it's easy for me to take pics like that :)

P.S. I found this funny, a bit related...

[hide=a gate that guards an empty desert, it wasn't ment to show what was behind the gate]173.png[/hide]

Runescape is probably about twice the area coed by the world map. Every entrance, ladder, etc that loads a new level, is a teleport to another area of the map. I once tried to figure out where zanaris is by useing the enchanted gem to talk to her while using the fairy rings to move around the world. By noting which way my charecter turned, I could get an estimation. I don't rember the result, and the precision of this method is seriously lacking, but zanaris is somewhere above miscellania I think. Actualy, most things seem to be above the wild, probably because they know they will not expand teh map in that direction. There are several dungeons that you can see other dungeons from, so I figure there all in the same area.

To answer the question, yes, runescape is one single plane.

Think about this. When you go up above ground level in say a city, there has to be an entire city someplace for EACH level for you to view. When you are on these floors, the fake city is simply moved below ground level. Ever wonder why you cant see people on ground level from a second or third (or fourth) floor? Thats why.

Mine is 28" ftw :)

Having problems uploading images, I'll add yours as soon as I can!

Indeed the world map would make no sense. I want to see it :twisted:

Safe FFA, east side, barely seen on minimap, if not at all.

Well... I've always thought that all underground/above places in games were placed in a far off area that's unacessible, like, for example - Level 107 Widerness, waaaaaaay north of anything. This is what I have always thought... :?

Doesn't it actually make sense for the Mort'ton shade tomb to be near the Barrows tunnels? Because they ARE near eachother? :)

Why can we see through walls, then? They should have all the dungeons etc. too far apart from any other to see them. It makes sense, why would we be able to see through walls?

I'll probably resort the images into "Believable" and "Unbelievable" or something like that.

That lava image is a great find!

Still having problems adding other people's images for some stupid reason.

NO IT"S NOT A 3D ARRAY. Really, how stubborn can you be... JAVA ONLY SUPPORTS UP TO 2D ARRAYS! I LOOKED INTO THE WAY THE DATA IS STORED, YOU CAN SEE FROM THE LAYOUT ON YOUR PHYSICAL MEMORY THAT IT'S A 2D ARRAY! Ever heard of pointers in C-family? JAVA uses a similar technique although it's made completely transparant for the programmer. This is what makes java so easy, but also makes java terribly slow and easily "hackable"!
Technically, Java only supports 1D arrays. Higher dimension arrays can be done as arrays of arrays. Thus, there is NO limit to the number of dimensions you can have. For example, the following code makes a 3D integer array with size 5*5*5:

int[][][] stuff = new int[5][5][5];

(This can be thought of as an array of 2D arrays, which in turn are arrays of 1D arrays.)

Also, I don't know where you got 2D physical memory from, but again, computer memory is really just 1D. Pointers are essentially integers that refer to a certain place in memory. This is where the 4 GB memory on 32 bit systems comes from; 32 bits of data can hold at most 2^32 (4,294,967,296) different possible values.

My personal opinion is that JaGEX implemented the map as a single 2D array with stairs and similar things acting as "teleports" to a separate location in the array.

Beat me to saying it, all languages that I know of that have support for arrays support n-deep arrays. In fact in c++ the way multi dimension arrays are handled is actually just a overloaded way of accessing a 1-deep array. In c++ if you declare:

int size = 2;

int ctr = 0;

int array[size][size][size];

int i, j, k;

for (i = 0; i < size; i++)

    for (j = 0; j < size; j++)

         for (k = 0; k < size; k++)

         {

              array[i][j][k] = ctr;

              ctr++;

         }

would result in:

array[0][0][0]=0

array[0][0][1]=1

array[0][1][0]=2

array[0][1][1]=3

array[1][0][0]=4

array[1][0][1]=5

array[1][1][0]=6

array[1][1][1]=7

however in c++ an array is stored sequentially in memory. Assume the pointer named array points to a memory location of 0x0001 then the following would also be valid ways of accessing the data, albiet as a one dimensional array.

*(array+0)=0x0001=0

*(array+1)=0x0002=1

*(array+2)=0x0003=2

*(array+3)=0x0004=3

*(array+4)=0x0005=4

*(array+5)=0x0006=5

*(array+6)=0x0007=6

*(array+7)=0x0008=7

So pulli23, next time you decide to go off on somebody be sure you have your facts right. Also, java just like all .NET languages use a JIT compiler and therefore are naturally easier to decompile unlike assembly languages like c++; however, by using obfuscation and encryption within the code it can be made near-impossible to decompile.

You make it sound like running through a few level 87 monsters is hard which it really shouldn't be at your level.

I don't have teh pics, but the arzanian mine (the one with 128 gold rocks) is very close to where Jagex put the areas for the morton minigame where you guide people to and from paterdomus and some town in the swamp (having some trouble with names tonight).

I should mention that whether Java supposts a 3d array is completly beside the point. We KNOW the RuneScape map is 2D for all elevations end of story.

Within this massive 2D plane are I belive 3 levels. 0 is used for things like a river bed (it used to be ground level but they changed it with HD), 1 is ground level, and 2 is anything that extends beyons the first floor (I am using american floor standards here). So the ground, walls up to the first floor are all level 1.

This means that when you are on a floor other than ground, you are NOT in another level. If you are on the second story of a building, all the streets and scenery below you are on the 0 level rather than the 1 where they usualy are.
