Perplexing, But I support the theory that Runescape is all 1 level, instead of "floors".

 

 

 

What this doesn't explain is the fact that if something is dropped on the floor below you in places like Varrock East Bank it shows on the "image" of the lower floor. This is where the "Uninhabited Varrock plane" next to the Clan Wars FFA comes into play. I think that, where applicable, items dropped in certain areas also get "duplicated" and placed on the corresponding area accordingly. A great example is Castle Wars where, if you go up the steps, you can see the arrows and other drops on the ground below you, but no people. (This only works on the main structures and not the wall obviously, but you see my meaning)

 

 

 

By this logic, we can also conclude that PCs, NPCs, interactable scenery, and resources share a "plane", whereas items have a different "plane" entirely.

 

This is how two people may fight the same NPC or gather the same resource simultaneously, but cannot pick up the same item.

 

 

 

Also, for a long time the cutscenes in Monkey Madness were glitched to where you could walk around these "Ethereal Planes" (as I will refer to them in future posts) and actually interact with some of the surroundings, including the subjects of the cutscene, which would always give the reply "null".

 

- This is actually smarter on JaGEx's part mainly because it is too cumbersome to have too many things going on in one spot, so they spread it out and make the game as a whole more efficient and less laggy. This is why you see many low-traffic areas tight together.

 

 

 

I will have to do more research, but I will be sure to post any more findings or areas where this phenomenon takes place.

 

 

 

I have another place where this happens. In my POH, while hosting a party in rimmy, I noticed that a hwite dot flashed on my minimap where the entrance is while I was on my top floor, I also could see new people entering, but they only flashed into existance for under a second. So I could tell when new arrivels came, but could only see them for a fraction of a second beofre they disapeared. My theory on this is that the game puts there avatar in the 0 level of my POH's second floor during loading so I know when people arrive, then moves them to level 1 of my POH main floor once they have completed loading.

 

 

 

I to greatly support all of runescape existing on the same level 1. Think about it, it there were multiple layers for all levels of a city say, then the ENTIRE MAP qould occupy so much more memory, because there would be so many blocks of memory for empty space. The data array would have to exist as a cube, but most of the cube would be a void (as demonstrated by a RSC glitch). It is much easier to duplicate some parts and work with the 3 (or 4?) levels.

 

 

 

About dungeons matching up, the map creator progam surely has a grid, so it would not be hard to make everythign the exact right size at all.

Umm, if this has already been posted then don't worry, but has anyone seen a "path" thingy in the south/west corner or the maze random event? Nice idea about the true map though \'

Wow this topic has grown fast. :shock:

 

 

 

I'm really intreigued to see how the Runescape world actually pans out. I'm keeping my eye out for extra things in dungeons (though it's fairly difficult because I'm on standard def :cry: ) but I've been using my enchanted gem to talk to my slayer master and when I was in the ice cave by Mudskippers point which is south of my slayer master, I kept turning west...

Racheya I tried using the Slayer Gem in random places, with really weird results too. For instance, you will face north (when you should face southeast) from Yanille Watchtower 3rd floor. You face the correct direction on the 2nd floor.

Someone who hasn't completed watchtower quest, should try the slayer gem on the 3rd floor. I think the room with that wizard's machine working is located somewhere else and the one with the machine not working is located in the correct place.

Yeah, that makes the most sense. Since it's an old quest they would make it that way, new things such as the Balloon quest were programmed differently so a separate square for activated Balloons wasn't needed (that's what I think, at least).

Actually, clarification?

 

Did you run a few steps west and then change to east or did you manually click to go east yourself? It could have been that weird run lag that happens sometimes.

I don't know, but I can 75% gurantee he was teleported to east for a split second then west. Run lags last longer. That was a little turn to the westm then a run to the east.

hey people, this night i was at barrows and i was just wondering whose sarcophagus lies WEST of torag's;

 

if u stand in the west of his cave u see in the west part another crypt with a sarcophagus....

 

 

 

p.s. same thin in guthans cave; east of his cave is another cave.... edit: its ahrims cave..

 

notheast of guthan's is another cave.

It does look like Falador Castle, but I don't know. I don't remember any portal in there.

If it looks like Falador Castle (which I agree that it does), it probably is related to the Temple Knights training area. It would make sense to train you in rooms that had the same style as their castle.

 

 

 

So, four total areas seen near the Gold Mine. One that should be under Lumbridge, one that is a minigame, and one that is a quest, and another unknown one.

 

 

 

So obviously the Gold Mine is nowhere near keldagrim or Keldagrim is nowhere near the entrance.

It does look like Falador Castle, but I don't know. I don't remember any portal in there.

 

Maybe it's the Champion's Arena, the one under the Champion's Guild :?:

Due to my epic stats, I have now started WGS (but I still hate spoilers).
