Hawks
So I've been under the weather for a few days now (some sort of stomach issue... I can't eat a lot but apparently that's the only way to get better... ) and I was wondering what you do when you're sick in an attempt to get better. I've heard when you have stomach illnesses you should eat toast, bananas, and apples... but I've been eating Jello and some fruit. Are protein shakes good? (like Carnation Instant Breakfast things) But if there's stuff you do when you're congested that's helpful too. sig by Soa.....tip.it times.....art & mediadeviantart/flickr/last.fm/steam/twitter/tumblr/youtube

scootlaboot
I'm guessing you have the flu, if you are throwing up, gon't eat anything you'll regret, also warm flat coke is good for an upset stomach. If you choose your beliefs/lifestyle simply based on what your parents want, then you are a weak minded individual and are not even worthy of calling yourself a person. I never find the Carnation instant breakfast things to be too helpful, I'm pretty used to them now though since I've had them for breakfast every single day for the last 3 years. Laying down and resting can help too, I think you are supposed to lay on your left side with a stomach ache. EDIT: A classic when you're sick is chicken noodle soup, and I find it's a classic for a reason. It really does help. Sprite can also help some too, don't get it too cold though. pryomancer
Don't have any dairy products, they block up your throat and sinuses etc, makes you feel worse. Like above, drink lots of water.
cadburys_egg
One pint of fresh orange juice One pint of fresh milk 2 table spoons of cocoa/chocolate powder Mix well Drink it all in one gulp ??? Feel like a new man. It wont taste great and it'll most certainly make you throw up anything you may have in your body, hopefully including any bug you may have. Then just get some rest. Seriously, though, sleep. Whenever I get ill from anything I sleep for a good 8 hours during the afternoon and ill feel fine by the time I wake up. Toast isnt necessarily 'good' when youre ill, its just that theres nothing in it and wont make you feel worse. Peppermints are also pretty good at doing that. As for drinks, just water to replenish lost fluids and a bit of lemonade to aid anything. Just sleep and take it off your mind.
Faux
Drink (water) and eat (tons of veggies/meat/no junk) a lot. Doing this should mean that you'll also take a dump and piss more often. Ginger_Warrior
I usually just lie on the sofa with a duvet and a pillow. I play music on the TV or my iPod, or I play the DS - anything that keeps me occupied on something. I make sure I've got a hot water bottle and if I feel drowsy I go to sleep and wake up in a few hours time feeling a bit better. I keep taking hot chocolate, or tea if I'm not feeling nauseous, and I have food like normal so long as I can feel like I can stomach it. If others say I'm running a temperature, I take cheap paracetamol, as well as cheap relief from symptoms like Lockets, Olbas Oil, Venos. If I end up being sick, yay! My body's doing its job and it's quite satisfying. If you've lost your appetite, try mixing one stock of OXO (or whatever you have) into a mug of hot water and stir. Then drink it or eat it with bread. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |

ThurinEthir
I have a digestive disorder. Or something. Basically a stomach illness, but it doesn't go away easily. I'll assume what helps me will help you too, but sometimes it'll do the complete opposite. People are weird like that. Avoid greasy foods, generally avoid cold things. Lots of fiber if you're having issues with your crap. Keep yourself distracted, thinking about it will only make it worse. Computers are great for this. Don't eat too much at once, spread it out. Saltines and bread are good, along with hot drinks (Hot chocolate is a good choice, especially since it's getting cold). Don't sleep too little... Basically common sense, to be honest. :| Cenin pân nîd, istan pân nîd, dan nin ú-cenich, nin ú-istach.Ithil luin eria vi menel caran...Tîn dan delu. Shiny
Although it sounds really, really stupid, try burnt toast. It will settle your stomach a bit, and make sure you eat it with Ginger Beer, or Ale. ON your burnt toast put something which has flavour, but not much. Something like honey. Eat it, while drinking Ginger Beer.

The Observer
By unpuking of course, it's all the rage. But seriously though, you should try just waiting it out. Just try drinking plenty of water to make sure you're hydrated and to get some rest. Straining yourself will only prolong the sickness.

People need to learn to get more vitamin C before they get sick rather than when they start getting sick or already are sick. warren211
If you have a sore throat, gargle with salt water. It doesn't actually cure the sore throat, but it provides temporary relief by reducing the swelling. Consider buying those sticky nose things you put on top of your nose that widen your breathing passage that makes it easier to breathe. When you have phlegm in your mouth, ALWAYS spit it out and do not swallow it. As for stomachs, I have no idea what is actually a cure and what just satisfies your stomach. And as deloria said, orange juice doesn't benefit you very much when you're already sick. It just temporarily agitates a sore throat with the sourness. A neat trick my mom showed me to reduce tartness of juices when your sick and want to enjoy one is to sprinkle a bit of salt and pepper into it. I'm not sure what reactions occur, but it really works. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. l0rd
Echinachea, vitamin C, and sweating for a cold + if you like spicy things like cayyene pepper eat a bunch of them. Whenever I have like a really bad cold I eat so much peppers/pepper-powder, most people would think I have a problem. Actually I do that all the time, peppers are just one of mah favorite foods. Quoi_Tu
Sounds like you have stomach cancer. I used to get stomach cancer all the time and I always ate saltines and drank ginger ale until I got better. Or you could get a stomach transplant. Vitamin C myth. It may not be as helpful as most people think. Beer
