Demoli
Although I'm not a old player, as i only play since 2006, i noticed the recent amount of minigames and they're inpact in the game. We have Castle Wars, the most popular minigame ever wich require high strategical senses, aswell as high levels; We have Bounty Hunter for anyone who's up to classic pking, We have Fight Pitts to defeat other players in a safe multicombat PvP sistem. For everyone who enjoys skilling, we have Pyramid Plunder, to get us some ancients relics while training our thieving skill; We have Vinesweeper, to give us nice seeds or farming experience, along with some fun; We have Beacon Network, wich finally gave Firemaking a Most needed update, rewarding us with exp boosters and the best powertraining axe in the game, the Inferno Adze. Still, we have the PvE minigames, such as the classic team based Barbaria Assault, wich when it was released rewarded the only torso slot armour with a strenght bonus; we have Barrows, wich still today rewards us with the best cost-efficient armour, as well as weapons and set effects to the apropriate sets. And still, there are many other, such as Stealing Creation, the first minigame that combines skillers and warriors perfectly. And many others are coming, like the phoenix and Mobilizing Armies. Now here's my point: Would runescape be the same without theses minigames, and specially, without those rewards. For everyone who wants to know, here is a list of, in my opinion, the best minigame rewards [hide=Minigame Rewards]Golden Castle Wars Armour (highly respected) Stealing creation armour and tools (double exp is insane!) Looted stuff from other player in BH Fire Cape (best cape in game) Inferno Adze Lumberjack outfit Thieving exp from Pyramid Plunder FoG Herb Gloves Omni-Staff and cheap essence Barrows Armour (let's face it, theyre the best armour in game) Torso (not as seeked after release of GWD) and Penance Gloves Void Armour, specially the range set and the mace Experience Gained from Pest Control Treasure Trail Rewards (You gotta love 3rd Age  ) Many others i dont recall[/hide] Feel free to discuss Side Note: I will later on correct my grammar and vocabulary mistakes. I would apreciate you stick with the main reason of this thread. Remember, we're are to discuss the thread and not my grades at English. Racheya
I definately think that minigames are important, if people had to just train in conventional ways all the time it would get more boring than it already can be. The beauty of things like SC armour and tools is that it doesn't really cut down how long you play. Imagine it would take you 2 hours to do something but you use SC tools and it halfs the time. You still spend an hour on SC getting those tools so it equals the same time, just half of it is spent doing more fun things. The rewards for mingames are the main drive of them. If they had no rewards then they wouldn't be played nearly as much as they are. I think they're a necessary part of the game because they are fun, and thats what a game is all about, having fun. forsooth
Minigames are incredibly important in runescape. Not only funwise but also for the economy. (Ex. Barrows) Barrows Drops - Guthans Helmat x2, Dharoks Chest x2, Ahrims Staff, Guthans WarSpear Ahrims Robetop x2, Ahrims Hood, Torag's Legs, Karils Skirt, Xbow - Med (Double) Brassard-Hammers (Double)Dragon Drops - 1 Skirt... (3 helms)Dk - Dragon Axe x3, Warrior Ring x2T.T - Top hat (4.3m) x2GWD - [bandos] Hilt, Plate X2
Demoli
Yes, i Think barrows is the best example out there, althou torso and the thieving exp from pyramid plunder are also apealing. I honestly think that without pyramid plunder there would be less 99'ers with thieveing skillcape and without BH, many player would quit... (pvp worlds arent the same)
Misterknowitall
Mimingames are necessary against the tediousness of regular training. I had so much fun doing the Beacon Network minigame, instead of burning a bunch of maples at the GE.
xSxqPowerx
Of course it would be different. It would probably be more boring, and Jagex would have to come up with less inventive ways to release new items.
The_dmt1234
before pest control was updated you'd could easily obtain equivilent to just under 3 points of what today is in 30 seconds so you'd be getting upto 360 of todays points in 1 hr and on average say 50k exp pe r100 points thats almsot around 175k experince just from points an say you get 1k exp per game thats another 120k exp so you're gettign near 300k exp per hour, hence this has effected combat levels a lot in my opinion ]

Sorry, how is that the best powertraining axe? We need minigames, to take a break from skilling, have fun with friends, and general rewards from them. Unfinished netherrack symbol of Khorne. Zaaps1
I would place Penance Gloves at the top of that list. Golden Castle Wars Armour (highly respected) Stealing creation armour and tools (double exp is insane!) Looted stuff from other player in BH Fire Cape (best cape in game) Inferno Adze Lumberjack outfit Thieving exp from Pyramid Plunder FoG Herb Gloves Omni-Staff and cheap essence Barrows Armour (let's face it, theyre the best armour in game) Torso (not as seeked after release of GWD) Many others i dont recall -Lumberjack usually ISN'T worth the time it takes to get it, even if you got for 99. Perhaps if you go higher, but it isn't worth it for a long time. Same with Fire Ring and Gloves. -Blackjacking is much better than PP, I'd go so far as to say it is Obsolete if there weren't Sceptres. -I would say that Treasure Trails are a minigame, of sorts. It provides the best armor in the game (stat wise, not effectiveness) and great looking clothes. ~It's Super Effective! s1reatalot
Without mini-games runescape woulden't be so good, i.e torso from barbarian assult, imagine how many have a torso? and barrows, if you think about it runescape woulden't be the same. Everyonedies
mini games are added fun to keep the game from getting borring. They can be a nice change of pace. http://www.clanhavok.net/
warrior5024
I play for fun. I find fun in minigames. I'd quit if I lost minigames. So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.
Romy
You forgot 1, very important, thing    FUN! Zierro
They are just as necessary in terms of usefulness as quests and skills. Plus like others stated, they help RS become a funner game.

Also a great intentive. I, to be frank, only truly enjoy Stealing Creation. Barbarian Assault to a lesser extent. I like minigames where one person can make a difference, and I'm not too fond of Combat. Great Orb Project would be so much better if you weren't teamed with complete idiots half the time. Sorry, how is that the best powertraining axe? We need minigames, to take a break from skilling, have fun with friends, and general rewards from them. Being Cutting teaks and droping them the best woodcutting power training method, and as the adze burn automaticly 33% of your logs cut, then you spend more time cutting, less time dropping, and with the speed of a dragon axe, the infer no adze surpasses Dragon Axe by far. Its is not good for effective woodcutting because it would burn down yews and magics too. Understood? peace

Fire Gloves and Ring of Fire ARE worth it, it saves you 10 hours worth of burning maples (assuming you burn 10k maples an hour), and doing the minigame is 2 hours max. -Black Jacking is better, although not for a large difference and requires much more clicking. Also, PP has better rewards, even without the Sceptre, the golden trinkets make for it. -Treasure Trails ARE a minigame, as comproved by JaGeX, and i added them to the list, thank you for the remimder  . Kimberly
Minigames are Jagex's way of expanding the game without expanding the level cap. They are necessary, because they'll NEVER expand the level cap.

Str4lif3
Of course. If you want to relax after a long day of skilling and what not you can just play a minigame to have some fun.
