pryomancer
Some people think being random and saying random things makes them somehow witty and funny. No it doesn't, spurting out random words like spool and dentistry is neither funny nor witty.
stevepole
When people I know ask how random you are it generally isn't about what your thinking but more about how spontaneous you are.. I can't think of my most recent thought though, but it probably had to do with my screenplay I have to write this semester. Oh I got one now, last night when I was at the Lil' Wayne concert, I thought it would be really cool to just get up and tell the girl I was with that I'd be right back and then come out on stage with Lil' Wayne rocking out on a guitar even though I'm never played a guitar in my life. It would of been sick and made major points with the girl. Now you may be asking yourself Lil' Wayne, guitar? wtf but Lil' Wayne is really into playing the guitar right now and in fact his next CD is going to be a rock album so as of currently lil' wayne and a guitar isn't very strange.. google Lil' Wayne Prom Queen to hear his new rock single. Madmanpur3
I'd say I'm a fairly random person and luckily my cousin/best friend is equally as random/spontaneous. Couple summers ago I went on 3,000+ mile road trip to visit some old family friends and to go to one of the daughters' wedding...I decided that it was a really fun trip but there was more to be seen out there (Pacific Coast), so I called up my cousin and asked if he wanted to take a couple weeks and just tour the western US. Ultimately we just packed a [cabbage] ton of clothes and a couple books as well as a DVD player with several movies - for the boring stretches of driving (Nebraska, Nevada, Wyoming, parts of Utah, South Dakota, parts of Montana). In 12 days we covered 5000 miles and 11 states. Unless it's something important, I try not to plan more than a day in advance. Hell even for fairly big things I still don't plan that far ahead....might be going to South Korea sometime this summer and might be going to Italy next Christmas. stevepole
It's not [bleep] random if you plan to say it. Dang I was about to post something saying nothing you do is truly random. I think it depends on how your defining random. It also isn't like someone is just sitting here waiting for a "random" thought just to jot down, intended for this thread. My thought was based on the randomness of the action. How random would it be that the person your sitting next to you gets up disappears for a couple minutes then shows up on stage playing a guitar, that's pretty [bleep]ing random if you ask me. pureprayer
A few years ago we are sitting in English class and my teacher was explaining something or other and I shouted RAINBOWS. Completely FTW Pureprayer, you're awesome.

No it doesn't, spurting out random words like spool and dentistry is neither funny nor witty. This. The harder you try to be random, the more you suck at it. Though my friends love it when I stand up at my desk in the middle of math class. My teacher and other students simply don't notice. I timed myself and was able to stand for a minute and a half with her explaining a test and no one said a word. :/ I present to you men, His Imperial Majesty Emperor Norton I. What a guy. jemathonical
Normally random isn't really funny, and only great at specific times for conversation starters. If some kid in English yelled out RAINBOWS I'd think they were the biggest loser around. I'm not random, only when playing 'Absolute Balderdash' ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it! Madmanpur3
To those saying this thread is stupid because there's nothing random about anything or whatever the hell you're trying to say...is there a pattern or correlation to the OP's thought about being a dish and what the group was talking about? My guess is no, hence random thought. People have random thoughts, people say random things as a result of those thoughts, and people do random things...if you think otherwise then you should hang out with my friends a little. Obviously if someone conciously tries to think of something random to say, and does so frequently, they're going to be an annoying person. Fact of the matter tho is that most random thoughts come subconciously - like you'll be daydreaming about something then you'll notice something that's related to it, or vice versa (notice something then daydream about it). P.S. - It is possible to plan randomness. Say you're with a group of friends and you plan to just shout out "BLUE DIGGLE!" at exactly 7pm. Now, is it a random action from your point of view? Nope. Is it a random action from your friends' perspectives? I would hope so, otherwise it means you guys randomly shout "blue diggle". Would they be wrong to say "Um, that was random..."? No, because to all of them, it was random. People need to lighten up and relax a little bit. P.P.S. - It's not so much what is said that's random, it's the person who said it trying to explain their thought process and how they got to that point that's funny. dragoonson
I'm not random,I just say things outside the current context. In my mind I'm connecting things like 28 has 3 syllables, and if you replace 8 with the number of syllables it has,you get 23,which is proof the number is after me.Speaking of numbers,13 is,ironically, lucky for me. so i herd u liek devarts? If you look at me and feel offended by my 666-ism,think.I could be just as offended by your "cross".[hide=This's why I'm hot]The Eleventh Commandment:Thou Shalst only say "Amen, brother".Amen, brother :lol:Amen, brudda (referring to the 10th commandment)amen Bruder! Lenticular_J
spool Love that word, man. I don't like the phrase random. Makes me feel like an 11-year old girl. I prefer my thoughts to be considered "out there", and my humor "dry". Although if I have to, yes, I am very random. dragoonson
spool Love that word, man. Few years back in history,we learn about one of our founders by the name of Colonel (Major?) William Farquhar. That's pronounces far kwar.I spent our two one-hour lessons every week for 3 weeks using his name as an answer as often as possible. I got a yellow form every week for that.I was wondering when I'd see a red one.Turns out you get that for criminal offenses, and a green/white one to leave early. Its like soccer.(Whereby green is when you land face down on the grass, chances are you get to leave) so i herd u liek devarts? If you look at me and feel offended by my 666-ism,think.I could be just as offended by your "cross".[hide=This's why I'm hot]The Eleventh Commandment:Thou Shalst only say "Amen, brother".Amen, brother :lol:Amen, brudda (referring to the 10th commandment)amen Bruder! Misterknowitall
At a party some guy started saying that there was porn on tv. Then I shouted that it was on mondays. There was this 2 second silence and then everyone started laughing.

purfishx
Random, eh? Let me tell you...Oh look, a squirrel! That's exactly what pryo was talking about. People trying to be "random". Yep. Like when I just started high school, I usedta say, or what could be considered to be, "random" stuff all the time but then upon further thought, I wasn't really being random. It was just my train of thought that I happened to blurt out. This might not be seen as random to the person who said it, but to others it would be. I was called weird back then but now, everyone tries to say "random" stuff to get someone to laugh, only 1 guy does it well and everyone else gets it done sometimes. :?
