Oh [bleep], this will be hard. I love all music. I guess I can list (in no particular order) my top ten at the moment...

The Shins.

The Killers.

Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The Beatles.

Led Zeppelin.

Buddy Holly and the Crickets.

John Mellencamp.

The Eagles.

Uhhhh. Phill Collins.

Genesis.

Sure, I guess that works today.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

The Raconteurs

Red Hot Chili Peppers

The Answer

Eagles of Death Metal

Foo Fighters

The Bravery

Rage Against the Machine

Modest Mouse

Muse

Sublime

No order. You won't find any obscure death metal on my list . . . Which is why I find these topics boring most of the time. For some reason people on the internet have an overwhelming tendency to listen to loud noise with names I've never heard of. Most of these lists are meaningless to me. (Except Lenticular's. High-five.)

1: Iron Maiden

Rest in no particular order:

Darkthrone

Bathory

Borknagar

BB King

Kotiteollisuus

Moby

Doro/Warlock

Lisa Miskovsky

Nirvana

There's alot more...

In no particular order.

HammerFall

DragonForce

Muse

Iron Maiden

Metallica

Avenged Sevenfold

Killswitch Engage

Paramore

Foo Fighters

Pretty much the stuff I mostly listen to (due to the fact that my collection in music is really limited and I haven't listened to any Meat Loaf for a few months cause I haven't put it into my playlist, the rest are though)

So basically, you decide to express your disdain for people who listen to something other than piss-poor radio-friendly rock? Sorry bro, but I suggest you brush up on both your facts and musical taste before you come here and condemn people that a) have some variety, and B) enjoy metal.

The pultrichude and depth of death metal is amazing, and I suggest you listen to some before you call it "loud noise". Ahahaha, loud noise it is not, broseph.

Ah, just because your music scares us doesn't mean we're worse than you. Just as a relatively large number of the "metalheads" on this board despise rap (well, I don't despise metal, just doesn't sound as good to me), we just don't love metal or its two million subgenres created for each song. That's just my humble seeing of metal. I like softer rock, with very pronounced drums, bass and guitar. That's the majority of what I listen to, although I have bands as varied as MIA to Cynic on my Zune. Chill. We're a minority here, and we make nervous jokes about our musical tastes' differences to yours.

I've been listening to Chicago a lot today, as well.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

have you seen this topic? there's not one person who has listed an 'obscure death metal' band, except me of course. in fact, a lot of this [cabbage] is humble.

Youtube links to everyone of those bands for anyone who is curious. NOM, Lent, none of these are "scary death metal" bands, and the only bands with mostly growling in it are Primordial, Summoning and early Bathory.

According to Last.fm (in order of playcount):

1. King Crimson

2. Radiohead

3. Bob Dylan

4. TV On The Radio

5. Talking Heads

6. Grateful Dead

7. Aphex Twin

8. Dave Matthews Band

9. Yes

10. The Smiths/Sigur Ros

Favorites are hard to pick, but I would definitely add Animal Collective, Creedance Clearwater Revival, David Byrne, and Shpongle to that list if I could.
