Ok, after roughly 10 games my notes are the following:

- For slayer it's a nice addition, but not really the thing that I'd do. It gives an alternative, but the alternative is a lot slower which imo the right thing.

- For people like me it offers nothing: the abyssal demon pet might be a cool looking thing, but definately not worth the effort imo. If it had some kind of a real function, it could be worth getting.

- You just have to have some kind of stats in order to play it properly. My char with dscim+73 str can do almost nothing in the game and as the Ava's backpack isn't allowed, the ranging option isn't really suitable for newer players either. Could aswell go to pc or train "normal" way.

- At lvl 81 you will get 14.4-43.2k magic xp per hour. That's definately not too great, seeing that you could just go to fog and gain the same free xp there with ancients.

- What I've heard and read about the gambling, that's not too great money. Even if there was some great jackpot, it seems to take (theoretically of course) so long that working for the money would be faster.

- Killing people don't give any real rewards for you. This means that you could only afk for almost the whole 20 minutes and that's it. Especially weaker players don't have any chances to survive at the avatar on busy worlds. What does the game offer for them? Slow xp and loads of deaths.

- I found the game itself relatively boring. You must have good armours and weapons in order to kill people. If you don't have them, you most likely won't survive at the avatar or soul altar either. With the current map there are flows of people: people run from a direction a to b without really having other alternatives. This leads into a situation where you are relatively useless if you're a high level player with fancy items and at least on official worlds you won't be facing too many real balanced fights: it's either you/your mate getting koed or just running with the prayer on.

- The avatar doesn't have a multi area hit and people spawn next to it once they die. This means that a big team is a must in order to do well.

This means that the game will most likely be like castle wars: played on 2 servers and abandoned on 100 others.

In other words, when it comes to training it offers only worse options than real training. When it comes to other rewards, I don't see the point in them either. They fall to the category "nice but not worth it". Kinda reminds me of most of the semi-high summoning pets: they can show you are not totally weak, but they definately aren't real status symbols either.

I'd say that the same people who love castle wars could like this. However if you are looking for an efficent way to train any of the skills, you won't be too keen sw player. With a bit more better planning this minigame could have been a great addition to a big majority.

260 regular bones is another item recieved if gambling. I found the minigame a little boring, and it doesn't offer anything spectacular.

Lol, that's basically wat i've been doign for the last couple of hours  I want the minion but the game is just way too boring imo, so been playing PS/doing HW while sitting at my team's avatar, occasionally attacking people who come in  34/85 points

They'll probably change this, but I go in the game for the last 5 mins (unil then I fletch at the 1 click random free bank outside) and get 3 free zeal. :P A friend tells me how long's left and who's winning lol. It's pretty good HP xp, not decided what to spend my points on yet though.

They will change it because of people like you. It's sad that Jagex has to keep up with people of poor character like yourself. You're pathetic.

It's a mini-game, not a "lol quick levels here" game, so your argument as a whole is pretty much invalid. It's a "Oh hey, fun mini-game to play with about a thousand other people at any time....Oh and there's xp rewards and new pets, that's nice".

Not every new addition has to speed up leveling, especially considering you'd probably be among the ranks to start complaining that slayer was "nerfed" if they made it a little faster or equally as fast as training it on tasks.

I don't know why they didn't implement a system similar to the Zeal system in PC to deter AFKing. Say you need to get, say, 500 damage in a 20min time period. Or maybe set the damage needed to obtain Zeal Points at the end of the game on a sliding scale proportional to your combat level. :-k

This would also nearly make it impossible for those to come in late to the game (say 5mins until a game is over?) and leech off the rewards without doing anything. But, it'd give legitimate people who are waiting something to do while waiting for the next game.

Is there any downside to this that I'm not seeing?

EDIT: It wouldn't hurt to have at the end of the game a message if you came late. " team was victorious! Because you came to the game late, you receive 1 Zeal for your effort." <--- Regardless if you won or not.

Yeah, to be honest, I saw a ridiculous amount of people afking, so I tried as well. By doing absolutely nothing, I got 85k hp xp in an hour. I don't know why hp gives the same ammount of xp as the other stats.

From what I've seen of the rewards, the minigame really isn't worth playing :| C'mon... 30 crimsons for 12 zeal? That takes what... a minimum of 1:20?

Okay, okay, I know minigames aren't supposed to be about the rewards, they're supposed to be fun and the rewards are just the icing on the cake... but the game is just downright boring from what I've experienced. The arena follows a very linear path, and the whole ability to capture the obelisk means that if you're on the loosing side all you can do pretty much is sit at the obelisk whacking people repeatedly hoping to make some kind of a difference.

Honestly, I find actual slayer more fun than this. I hate slayer, btw.

It certainly isn't worth it for charms, but for hp xp, it certainly is.

You can already get a Dragon pet at 99 summoning and a Spirit Kalphite at 25

Yes, but it would be cool to have a baby King Black Dragon if you had 99 summoning.

Indeed. A KING black dragon having an egg works nicely doesn't it?

I want to see the charm reward for this stuff

If you havent realized the King Black Dragon will drop his 3 heads very rarely.

I had a dream about this minigame last night, or something very similar, except everyone was real rather than playing through their avatar, and no one had any weapons. Everyone glowed with a green or red aura to indicate which team they were on. And there were two by two foot tiles which lit up corresponding to your team colors when you stood on them for a certain period of time. Strange...

Fair enough, though personally if I wasn't already 99 hp I'd prefer to just let that be trained along with my other combat skills since maxing all of those will certainly eventually get me to 99 hp.

But I suppose since you can basically AFK, this would be a good option for people who have homework/ect to do. At least for now :P

I *think* that the exp per zeal is 2% of your total exp to the next level, but im not sure.

Good point, now if it only was fun...

Jagex said it'd be like CW, but what I like about the CW is the huge amount of tactics, teamwork and personal skill (cw skills I mean) involved. CW is incredible hard and takes loads of time to master, however it hardly gets easier then this.

When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done.

All skills 80+

It might be 2% for attack, strength, defence, and hitpoints.

I had 84 defence and i recieved around 5775 exp per zeal. at 84 defence you need 278,259 experience to get to level 85.

5775/2 = 2887.5* 100 = 288750, which is rather close

At 85 defence, i get roughlt 6020 exp (i think, cant remember exactly), 85 defence needs around 307k exp for the next level.

6020/2 = 3010*100 = 301000 exsp, which again is very close to the 2% guess.

im not sure now, about the rest, but for melee stats it definatly seems that way.

hope this helps!

Ya, you and everyone else.

Great more people at abby's? As if there isn't enough already. I may decide to put these on permanent block, seeing as I've only gotten one whip from 85-90 slayer (15-20 assignments?) anyway. Spiritual Mages FTW :P

Slayer tower, yes, but soon, I imagine the uncrowded place will be too :wall:

chris_924.png

They need slayer only worlds for people killing monsters on tasks.

Hellhounds and Abby Demons both suffer from overcrowding.

More npc's would be nice too.

The chaos tunnels certainly helped for some assignments.

(Hellhounds perm-blocked for me for just that reason)

Err, kinda veered off topic sorry.

More spawns yep. I also have hells blocked too :P one other monster they need to work on is greaters. Allways packed and only 1 good place to kill them(brimmy), unless you wanna range ofcourse. Thought jagex woulda put them into chaos tunnels. Ah well, back to slayer.

X_kaylin_X.png

haven't you guys got *abit* off topic?

OT: well, seems that hp is skill that you max togheter with others, so no really need to camp only for hp...and for rest thing it's not worth the 20 mins for max 3 points, unless you want 3 mins cheating.

the only factor that game have left to do it the fun factor (seems to work pretty good with CW)...but so much people says it not, so it might be soon more lonely than trouble brewing soon :?

want_a_box.png

I don't know if it's exactly 2% because at level 1 Def, I was offered 29 exp per zeal.

I will check every now and then while def rises to see if i can find any consistencies to determine a formula.
