March 31, 200917 yr Hi all, I was thinking about the major game features or changes that affect RuneScape economy drastically. The couple of major changes I remember:  -Grand Exchange: Changed the trading system radically. -Construction skill: Introduced the option of buying/improving a property. Any other big changes you can think of?
March 31, 200917 yr GE was the only drastic change. All the others merely adjusted the price of items directly related to the update. Drops: 1x Draconic Visage, 56x Abyssal Whip, 5x Demon Head, D Drops: 37, Barrows Drops: 43, DK Drops: 29GWD drops: 14,000x Bars, 1x Armadyl Hilt, 2x Armadyl Skirt, 4x Sara Sword, 1x Saradomin Hilt, 8x Bandos Hilt, 8x Bandos Platebody, 9x Bandos Tassets, 4x Bandos Boots, 43x Godsword Shard, 82x Dragon BootsDry streak records: Saradomin 412 kills Bandos 988 kills Spirit Mages 633 kills - Slayer Sucks
March 31, 200917 yr maybe the trade limit? Proud (retired) Tip.it Times Editor! Tip.it Times Archives TET event forum
March 31, 200917 yr GE was the only drastic change. That's not true. Rares peaked right before the release of construction which was the first ever bigtime money drain in runescape. It started the domino effect.
March 31, 200917 yr Well, the first big change was RS2. The ability to note all items enabled trades to be done easily in bulk. Then of course there was the trade limit, the GE, and the database.
March 31, 200917 yr I'd say the introduction of high-level gear that's only obtainable from an extremely tough monster, mainly the dragon claws and the sigils. March 31, 200917 yr I'd say the introduction of high-level gear that's only obtainable from an extremely tough monster, mainly the dragon claws and the sigils. true, but what does that have to do with the 'normal' items? Proud (retired) Tip.it Times Editor! Tip.it Times Archives TET event forum
March 31, 200917 yr GWD, made people want stuff, which made people want expensive items for skilling. Without GWD, there would be alot less people with 99 herb, 99 smithing, 99 con, 99 farming..etc.
April 1, 200917 yr Skill Capes. Crashed a lot of once profitable items. If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system. Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased. The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?
April 1, 200917 yr GWD. IRC Nick: Hiroki | 99 Agility | Max Quest Points | 138 CombatBandos drops: 20 Hilt | 22 Chestplate | 21 Tassets | 14 Boots
April 1, 200917 yr The dupe, RS2 (mostly due to changed shop prices, the loss of rares owned by those who stayed with RSC and I also remember low level smithing profits dropped off at this time), Runecrafting, pure essence, skillcapes, Construction (and, possibly 6-6-06, but I don't remember any immediate repurcussions from that), GWD, the end of dueling. the GE, trade limits, the GE DB, Summoning, and PVP worlds. April 1, 200917 yr Removal of Staking. Pretty much killed the rare market. Which is why partyhats are rising 1m at a time. PVP 26k'ers have had a huge effect, at least I think. They are generating once-rare items like Dragon full helms, making killing mithrils pretty much useless now.
April 1, 200917 yr Removal of Staking. Pretty much killed the rare market. Which is why partyhats are rising 1m at a time. What is happening to partyhats now has no effect on the fact that the removal of staking was one of several factors that caused the partyhat prices' crashing since (just before) the GE. Also, the eventual recovery of phats is inevitable (whether this price rise marks the start of the recovery or not I won't say until I see what happens these next few days/weeks; remember, phats have had several price jumps since the crash started and none of them lasted more than a few days). However, chances are, partyhats won't return to their pre-Autumn-2008 levels for a (very) long time. > SELECT * FROM users WHERE clue > 0;0 rows returnedThere's no place like 127.0.0.1There are only 10 types of peoplein this world: those who understandbinary and those who don't.This statement is false.$DO || ! $DO ; trytry: command not found

April 1, 200917 yr I wouldn't say it was the GE alone, because almost everyone knows that wasn't it. However, the GE did drop prices tremendously, and that's a reality we have to face.
April 1, 200917 yr Yeah, the GE takes the cake. Before that we had honest merchants who never really manipulated the prices, and prices kept steady. Sure there might have been a bit of manipulation going on, but nothing at all like we see today. Nate's Big Blog4,000th to 99 crafting, 33,340th to 99 defence, 3,867th to 99 farming, 55,293rd to 99 hitpoints
April 1, 200917 yr I am surprised no one mentioned High Alch and noting yet... All I learned in life, I learned on Tip.it
April 1, 200917 yr The Grand Exchange failed everything we need some people with the brand new "shoop-da-whoop" rank to blow it up.
April 1, 200917 yr the ge changed things so much. In the past there was much more of a you work for me and i pay you for your services type of thing going on now no one does that and people just sell and buy on the ge. In the past I would have workers who worked for me either getting silver ore or dragon hides. In turn i worked for someone else getting adam ore for them. We would hook up any time we had either a 1k adam ore or my workers had 500 silver ore or 200 or whatever dragon hides. Prices for hides were lower then becuase we worked out what we felt was fair price and i made money by selling dragonhide gear or by high alching it. Now its a huge loss to buy hides and make gear wether you sell it or just alch it. http://www.clanhavok.net/
April 1, 200917 yr Didn't sara brews go up 200% when CS was released? Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:
