When talking to another RS player in real life, do you keep quiet? Not really. I don't know many people who do play, so I don't have to worry. Would you even admit to one that you are playing Runescape? Yes. I'd be more worried of admitting that I hated Gears of War. :lol: Would you play in public places? No, though I have visited TruthScape and the Goldskillers site in my Web Design class. Didn't lead to mass riots or anything :lol: . We used to talk about RS alot, but we talk less now. \ My other friends (that have quit or never played) hate the game and whenever it's brought up, they rant about it. Like for example we went to see the new Wolverine movie we learned that the material Wolverine's claws were made of is called Adamantium and he just said "Rune claws are way better at least they have a spec." If its appropriate yes. I find this question a little weird, I mean its a videogame. Its not a "hard" or "bad" thing to admit. Lots of people I talk to act like the question is at par with "Would you tell your friends/parents if you're a crystal meth addict" then "does anyone know you play a videogame?". Runescape is just one of many games I play. My friends made me try WoW, I didn't like it, I made my friends play runescape for a bit, some liked it, some didn't. The only reason I wouldn't admit to playing rs is under the following conditions: Mom: "Are you doing homework?" me:"Uhhh... ya..." Quite frankly I don't think others care what games you play, it is not a big deal as some make it out to be. Don't be afraid to be yourself. I volunteer as a tutor for the library and I notice that alot of kids play Runescape in the computer lab for their 1 hour of free time, some members some f2p. I remember this one time in which I probably had like 6 kids around me while I talk about the history of the Gods (Guthix, Saradomin, Zamorack, Zaros, Seren, Armadyl, Bandos, Desert gods, etc.) and that whole conversation probably lasted about an hour and a half. They were just all amazed and they all picked a god on the spot. Made me feel good on the inside. It seems whenever they need help, whether it be quest or location they come to me. Sometimes it's annoying and sometimes it's enjoyable. I only know 1 guy who plays RS irl. I don't discuss Rs with him often, and if I do I make sure nobody else is around. Would you even admit to one that you are playing Runescape? Why not? Would you play in public places? I have a computer at home... If my internet or computer would be broken I wouldn't resort to libraries or anything. I've played in inter cafes before but that's usually while waiting for my friends to connect to the CSS/dota server. I don't hide that I play RS, but it's not something I would bring up spontaneously. Most people I know don't know it. Retired 2146 overall - 136 combat - 6 skillcapes Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks. I'm in my 20's though and way past the schoolkids train of thought, that it might be "embarrassing" if someone knew. Friends of mine that play WoW asked me to join them there, because they were irritated over me playing such a crapper computer game. So I did, and I owned them in their own game. If you think people will think less of you because of how you spend your free time, you're dead wrong lol. I think most people are afraid they'll instantly be labeled as a nerd if they are caught playing RS (even though there's nothing wrong with being a nerd...). If someone honestly sees you playing RS and calls you a nerd for it, chances are they would've made fun of you for whatever they saw you doing. Looking at porn? Get a girlfriend! Browsing the web? Get a life! Whenever people see what I'm doing and ask, I usually just say "playing a game I used to play a lot when I was younger." They really don't care lol. I was playing RS in my fraternity house last semester and one of the guys in the house saw me playing - "Oh, you play RuneScape??? I used to play that!" Though we both don't play anymore, I told him I'd consider renewing my membership this summer if he did the same. Hell, if I still played I'd probably put it back on my "interests/activities" list on Facebook, along with Guitar Hero lol From living in a house that shelters 60 guys and often has girls over, many of which have seen me playing, I've come to learn that nobody really minds what you do in your spare time lol. Though, keep in mind I still wouldn't be caught dead wearing RuneScape clothing :P Do you or don't you tell people openly about playing Rs? I've written a few runescape-based stories as well, so I have to explain thing like who Saradomin is, etc, etc. If someone were to ask me if I played, I'd probably say yes, unless I figured they'd only tease me about it. No point in that. I don't have any other friends that play, though, so we never really talk about it. (They all play WoW, so our gaming talk goes something like: "Runescape sucks!" "WoW sucks!" "Yeah, whatever." *changes topic* :lol:) I'd never play in a public place, mainly because I'm never really in a public place with a computer, and I'm very, very paranoid of keyloggers and stuff. Granted not a single one was interested, but no one ever gave me crap about it either. I even tried to get my girlfriend into it.
