July 17, 200916 yr With the recent disabling of Protect Item prayers on PvP Worlds, a lot of players feel that we had rendered their high-value weapons (godswords and dragon claws, in particular) worthless. While no changes had been made to the weapons themselves, the amount of wealth you had to risk in order to use those weapons was considered prohibitively high. We obviously dont want you to feel like your investment is wasted; we appreciate how much work some of you have put into getting those items! But, we also dont want to undo changes that we feel are good for PKing as whole. So, weve come up with a way of hopefully achieving both goals. Today we are introducing a new type of Bounty World. These +1 item worlds still wont allow you to use the Protect Item prayer, but, instead, everyone will always keep their most valuable item protected. On these worlds, to gain drop potential you (as usual) have to be risking 75k (or 25k on a free world). Because you always keep your most valuable item on these worlds, this means you have to risk 75k of items in ADDITION to your always-protected item. This has the following advantages: a) It still achieves our original intentions of making it harder to gain drop potential and participate in rewarding combat without actually really risking something; B) It stops high-value weapons being made worthless and still maintains that type of gameplay for people who enjoy it; C) Conversely, people who feel the new, more powerful weapons unbalanced PKing, without any risk to the wielder, have a different type of world that they can enjoy too. NOTE - Our ISP issues have meant that world 32, the planned +1 item Bounty World for free players, is not currently available. July 17, 200916 yr So, whats the difference between this and the protect item prayer? Previously you had the risk of losing your item if you forgot to turn on the prayer or ran out of prayer points. Now its absolutely risk free... But, you can't gain ep by 1-iteming anymore.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it isn't 'productive' or 'great'. What made PVP so great wasn't the cash rewards, those were fairly random, what made them so great was you could train your skills while getting EP and also get cash rewards and possible brawlers. No where else can you obtain that kind of wealth while actually training your skills. As far as productivity was concerned, you couldn't have gotten any more productive than that even if you tried.
July 17, 200916 yr Kudos to Jagex for their quick response to this problem. For all those still asking for protect item, start by reading why it was removed. Gaining EP through a safe situation is not really what Jagex had in mind when they released PVP worlds. Now they have a +1 world for all the sissy rushers and pjers and the real risky worlds for those who want a challenge. Expect some tweaks in the following weeks has emergent gameplay surfaces. A message to all those who are still asking for the old pking system along with the removal of trade limits... get over it already, it's not coming back! July 17, 200916 yr Should just have worlds where you can't build up EP but you're not automatically skulled. I.E you have to go to a normal BH world (auto skull now) to build EP and then you can go to a BH world with the normal skull rules.
