EDIT: SERIOUSLY WE NEED A WAR MECHANIC

I vote Germany steps up to the plate. Even in real life, they are reknowned for their engineers.

Game wise, I've directed Luxembourg's educational system towards engineering, science, and math. Hopefully someday, i can fill that role. Especially seeing as how Germany is dealing with a lot of infants at the moment.

Few more days (years) and we should have all the war mechanics we need.

Are you trolling me?

CAUSE THERE'S GONNA BE BAD STUFF IF YOU ARE

lol?

Why would I troll this thread. I love this game. I actually ended my day early to ensure my takeover of Mozambique. If I am trolling, I'm not doing it on purpose.

Luxembourg's law enforcement has become a top priority to reduce the rebellious individuals in the Belgium area. Research on "project Mobile Force" continues.

and dang it, I was gonna go for DRC :/

oh well.

Well, no inter-player conflict has happened before now, so hey, Feel free to try to take it

EDIT: 1000th post in thread :D

War mechanic = How we do PVP, not a person

Seriously. Think about it. We can't just have "My 200,000 troops go up against your 300,000 troops but my troops are better trained so we win just, we took 120,000 injured or killed"

IT'S NOT FAIR!

Before we PVP, we need to set up a convention. I think there need to be two important parts of this; first, we need to establish what everyone's military consists of - it's no fun attacking someone then finding out they've been hiding 600,000 troops in that abandoned barn you thought you bombed.

Second, we need to establish a method of PVP that's fair. Obviously, military might needs to give advantages and disadvantages, but we can't just have bigger armies winning. What about brilliant military commanders?

I don't really have any ideas for this, I was thinking of a random number generator but I think that would be /too/random - it'd be like, say one army has 400,000 troops and 800 aircraft support (just for ease) and the other army only has 350,000 troops and no air support. if the number is lower than or equal to 75 (again, random guess, we'll need to iron it out) then army A wins, but if army B gets the 25% chance of victory, 76-100, then they win.

Seriously, we need to think about this. Else I'm out. :P

I also resign from the game as I dislike the way it is being played by some of the people so Findenland is now only controlled by hedgehog1 and he can do with it as he wishes.

Could you please explain what you dislike? We don't want inactivity to drop because some of us are behaving like asshats.

I sincerely apologise if I was the one to cause you offence.

Troops in Belarus have been ordered to take control of the country. Findenland has around 100k soldiers now, but Belarus has 83k and is defending. Hopefully we can take Minsk and they will surrender. A long drawn out battle would be extremely bad.

My secret military project (from 3 or 4 years ago) is doing well, and is in the final stages of completion. It could help if I decide to invade Ukraine.

Why not just assign different units a different number. I.e, a regular, armed soldier can be the default 1. A well trained well armed soldier can be 2. Say a basic aircraft carrier could count as 5,000. Something like a basic tank could count as 300. And so on like that. Just no OTT units, like a laser wielding terminator robot that counts as 300,000.

Year 38, August 3rd. Germany

The geo-thermal power plants are coming along nice and look on track to be built by the year 41.

The scientists in my Frankfurt research camps are currently designing some new energy based defences to fortify my country. Their second task is to design some tank-like vehicles which should be ready to build by the year 39.

I'm willing to share any tech's my scientists research with the EC countries, if they can agree to work more closely with each other, sharing all tech's and becoming a great united alliance in Europe.

Also, could i buy 5 of those Exo-breaker suits, from whoever sells them, and a full list of what they actually do?

I'll give this thread 4 days before it is either dead or crawling at an incredibly slow pace. Too many people have dropped out.

MAD statistics: AIDS vaccines have been distributed amongst Swaziland, halting the spread of the virus

20% of energy comes from solar in Madagascar, another 20% is wind, 10% is hydropower, and the rest is from fossil fuels.

Scientists are developing nuclear technology because they wish to build 3 reactors over a period of several years, in the hopes to supply 10% more of MAD's power. We will need plenty of uranium, so feel free to give us an offer.

Verde Soylante has been a great success in residential areas of Madagascar, virtually eliminating the need for rice plantations, which has allowed us convert the land into sugar plantations.

My mistake, I misinterpretted the meaning of "mechanic"

I agree, we need to set up some PvP rules. I've never been good at such things without overpowering myself. I'll leave the duty to the rest of you, however I'll pitch in where I can.

Else I get the Brazilian Empire ;)

I'll promise to slow down if people stop dropping out. It isn't going to be as fun with so few people.

The rebellion has been squashed in Belgium, and now is part of Luxmbourg. That's all I feel like updating at the moment.

I can't really think of anything, other than simple things. Like, an army of 100 vs. 100,000 would lose. They might do some damage, depending on their training and armament, but nothing too serious. By the same note, if, in an all out war in Africa, I put down 300,000 of my best trained and equipped troops, that would beat the 30 or 40 thousand troops that Luxembourg would probably be able to gather. The tough part though is deciding how to settle combat between similarly sized groups.

rocco that looks like a very good idea Also i am pleased to announce that the hydropponics research in malaysia is coming along nicely(even though we have 3 or 4 scientists working on it) 30 government schools are under construction (with mandatory attendance) and we are taxing the :cabbage: out of the foreign timber companies :D while they have filed a law suit I am certain that if push comes to shove I can set some arrest warrants out on them ;) the birth rate has [bleep]ed and we have got an extra 30,000 babies coming into the world(barely enough for our hospitals to handle) so thats a (insert proper time period here) in malaysia

Due to unforeseen complications, Venezuela's nuclear project was pushed back a little. Fortunately, no civilians were seriously injured and the radiation should dissipate within a few decades. A hastily mounted propaganda campaign succeeded in persuading the populace that nuclear power is still a sound principle, so another plant is under construction.

I both like Dan's idea of assigning each unit a "point" value and Rocco's idea of a judge.

If we could possibly combine them to say, if you're over 200,000 points greater than your opponent, you win automatically, but casualties are still recorded? Or maybe that's unnecessary.

Of course, if we only have two alliance rings, then a judge would have to be picked from either side. Perhaps we would need two judges, in that case.

I think combining the judge and the points would be good. Just a perminent judge, somebody we can trust to be un-biased. Can keep track of troops points and can decide what hapens in the wars.

It'd be a pretty big job to be a permanent judge. Is there anyone who wants to be? I doubt we can get someone in from outside the game...

If this dies on page 53 it will just be fate, and i won't help but laugh.

But yeah, it would be a big job, maybe the OP can do it?

Heh. I think that should work.

Just an update on Iran's status.

1.1 million total troops, 650,000 in active service, 450,000 in reserve.

1100 tanks, 650 aircraft, roughly 100 ships of different varieties.

5500 Exobreaker A-3 suits, hidden in bunkers around Iran, roughly 500 more stored on Faroe Island, and a newly developed suit is undergoing testing as we speak.

Poverty is at an all time low 0.8%, graduation rates risen by 15%.

There is currently little religious influence on my citizens, due to propoganda designed to draw attention away from it.

(This is due to conflicting religions in Iran, I believe there is less bloodshed this way)

Overall living conditions are good...

Crime rates have remained the same...

Immigration into the country has slightly increased, and immigration out has decreased.

(If any of this sounds unreasonable, feel free to point it out)

At first I was like, wat, Iran has 1.1 million troops, but after doing a bit of research that seems reasonable. I don't think there is anything off the scales there.

I think the OP ditched when he destroyed his own country back 40 odd pages ago. Has anyone heard from him since?

Anywho, for the record, Brazil:

Luxembourg has 35,000 Argentian troops, 5,000 Luxembourg troops, and about 600,000 militia from the refugees of Adrenal's mistake of letting all gentiles (a few million people) out of India. Granted, the militia could be better trained, which is why I stationed a training base in Zimbabwe. However The Luxembourg troops are long time vets of war having served since the take over of Vatican City. The Argentian troops are fresh, and are currently somewhere between the Congo and Zimbabwe. I forget where I sent them. All of these individuals are armed with the latest in Isreali armor, grenades and weapons. Well, except maybe a few thousand militia. But as I previously stated, the mliitia also has African natives which are especially good with espionage and guerilla warfare.

My only real issue is transportation, and the fact that I have little to no non-infintry units. I due have half a dozen battleships stationed on the south coast of Italy, but other than that I'm still researching my alternative force.

Actual updates on my country:

Research complete!

Now the building process must begin.

I'll just repost my description that I put up a few days ago out of sheer laziness:

begin production of LAARTs (Luxembourg Assault and Recon Transport). So far they look pricey, but should be able to carry a dozen troops, armed with 2 miniguns, an arsenal of anti-personnel bombs, and 3 dozen bunkerbusting missles. It guzzles fuel, but can easily span the distance of Europe without refueling. It moves similiar to a helicopter and bears a striking resemblance to this: [hide=]EP2_aotc_republic_gunship_wallpaper.jpg[/hide]

Due to this large discovery, I'm going to take a short break from this game to make it a little more fair. I got yelled at last time I posted such an update. I'll take a 1 year penalty or so. Just as long as I can produce a few during my break.

Out of curiosity, how did you build battleships in a landlocked country? Furthermore, why would you even build battleships to start with. Battleships are also the most complicated and the second most expensive type of ship out there.

Quote wikipedia "With the decommissioning of the last Iowas, no battleships remain in service (including in reserve) with any navy worldwide" And with good reason.

Nah, you can just make something about how you made them. It's fine with me if we pretend they never were battleships, and are instead destroyers or cruisers or something.

EDIT: I want five of the exobreaker suits. I don't care who I get them from.
