Whats with this? (afk'ing on spiders)

In every world you will come across 1 or 2 people standing in Lumbridge basement casting spells on spiders wearing melee armour.

I dont understand why suddenly everyone seems to be doing this and what is the point? Gettind 4xp per wind strike isnt going to get you 99 mage anytime soon and would still cost you 30m.

Anyone care to elaborate?

Afk'ers, they need somewhere to mage when they're away and can't do it in pvp worlds safe anymore.

Yeah I see this too in every world. They think they're being clever but they're just wasting all their time and money, despite the fact that it's "AFK." Just report them for AFK'ing or something

Its less than 40k exp over night, how is it worth it at all?

Afk'ing IS against the rules, I just report them under macroing (I think; its under one section I know). Whether Jagex have taken action against those accounts I dont know, but I really wish they would take stern action against it. All they have to do is log into worlds and check their account for how long they've been idle for (which im sure is possible considering they can track mouse movements).

Because 40k xp is more than 0 xp.

They are AFKING spiders. It's against rules and is the latest trend that have appeared...

As most of people have already said, they are afking mage, but few grasp that what they are doing can't be punished by jagex rules- firstly, unless you can prove they are not within a certain distance from their computer screen(and jagex has not defined the term ''being away from keyboard'') it's not reportable or punishable, thus the large number or reports and small number of bans(only way to determine is to watch their progress over 72 hours). Why are they doing it? cheap magic experiance with little conveniance.

To all of you saying "ban them". Why? How is this bothering you in any way?

I don't say Ban them, but why not? They are AFKING - against rules.

Noticed this too, started as one, now sometimes there are people striking npc's above the basement too.

Even de spiders outside the castle.

because i shouldn't have to choose between playing the game and have people get better than me by not playing it, or do the same as them, it's cheating tbf

baileydafrog.png

maybe, but still is, what about bandits? they get a lot of xp overnight with barely any risk, that should definately checked on by mods alot, alas . . .

It's unfair to all the players that do follow the rules. Also, if they start letting people get away with small things like this people will think it's alright to afk train and just do it on a larger scale.

Not many people AFK bandits anymore but I have seen acouple J mods around there checking on them in the past.

unless you hop over to the help & advice with the guy saying all hsi friends go and he's starting too, it can't just be a select group of friends, either way the guys in lumby basement should get black marks at the very least

baileydafrog.png

rofl this stuff is old as pie ::' , this has been around forever. i say report if u find them, but doing it in lumby basement is just silly lol, enough places to hide from the public

There is nothing to report them for since Jagex changed it because they aren't actually Macroing which is the closest reportable offence.

From Jagex:

AFK training is Away From Keyboard training. While you are playing on our games, you must be at the computer. Away-from-keyboard training is not allowed, and you should log out when you leave the computer.

However, that's a very general definition. As long as the AFKers are physically at their computers, by that definition, they aren't breaking the rules. I'd like to see if Jagex clarifies this to make it include have the RS window minimized or in the background or whatever.

Any fool can write a rule, but any fool will mind it

Jagex has said it's fine to go to other windows while your character does something, but if that's all they're doing and they don't respond they could be reported and possibly banned. I imagine Jagex's system tracks no activity besides splashing over hours and hours before they decide if they are AFK or not.

Let me clear some things up:

1) Minimizing windows is not against rules:

Runescape window+Youtube video window

2) AFK means being away from keyboard. It's not easy to know if they are doing it or not. As for Bandits, many players went there so that they didn't have to click monsters...

They didn't go there to AFK.

3) It's clear that many of those spider splashers are AFKing....why would you:

- Pay for membership

- Get a very lousy magic experience

And it's not like you can't do alchemy/string jewellery (Lunar) and watch a movie.

I am positive many of those players are doing the spider splashing because they can AFK it.
