Beloved
instead of lowering the spiders' mage def (which many people suggest) i say make lumby cellar a multi-combat area so we can annoy teh hell out of them, gives us a good laugh aswell :)
baileydafrog
i very much agree with the multicombat, that would be funny, though they would just move elsewhere

There are really 2 problems- there are monsters that can not kill people(which can not be solved) and there are armor that permits you to fail every spell cast(also nearly impossible to solve). baileydafrog
you can find a rat upstairs in a none useful house, stay there and nobody will know, it just stops it happening there there should be a system in place where after so many 0's and no keypressed, holding 1 key not included, you get logged out despite being in combat as nothing hitting anything

Where does it? are level 3 spiders the only creatures that can not kill a level 138 in full armor? or do you mean making the whole of runescape multycombat? and even that wouldn't solve it, because there are places rarely visited. Beloved
well tbh i wasnt talking about solving the whole problem, although i do think there are more then enough ways to do so (for example: always make lvl 1-3 creatures get hit by magic, despite mage attack bonus) i just like to annoy the afk'ers... There's really no way to solve it by changing the monsters. There will always be low level monsters, or at least ones that are a level low enough so the caster can't get hit very often. Anybody know why the afkers train downstairs in Lumby when there's million of other places that don't have people reporting them every other second? Grogthurk
Because they'd be found and reported. They'll just exhaust Lumby until its a guaranteed ban and move out to the next spot.
magma2050
I would expect that anyone whose account is online and active for more than 72 hours in a row could reasonably be said to be either an AFKer or someone sharing accounts - Few people can actually stay awake that long. And I think the solution to the problem is fairly simple (in theory at least). Make it so if you are in combat with a monster for more minutes than its total hitpoints, and fail to do any damage, then they get bored and wander off - removing themselves as a viable target for long enough for the attacking player to lose the active attack and become idle. The only way to resolve that while AFK would be to use a macro program, which Jagex would be able to track down.
un4given
i know there are ways to keep one from logging out, but can't jagex ban the player if they're stuck in a random doing nothin? Disregard females. Acquire currency.
tintdawg
Maybe give the spider some poison or disease or something damaging like that, but it only occurs after it is hit by magic like 25.
Sir_Kurity
Maybe report them and hope they get banned. Or jagex needs some sort of system that detects AFKness. O.O
Deltaer
I don't think Jagex can create a system that would be able to act as a check on AFKers. I really doubt that Jagex can track mouse movements - as that would infringe on privacy laws... so I think the way that Jagex actually decides on whether one is AFKing or not, is by making judgments based on the player's actions (or lack thereof in this case)... and not by hard concrete data. acowswrath
Why dont they do the same thing they did with people who bolted to gain ep: make combat stop after a certain amount of spells dont hit. This could be bad for real mages though. BOO
jsboutin2
I guess I'm missing something, but doesn't RS log you off automatically every 6 hours? Making it impossible for them to stand in there for 72 hours.
Xaiier
I do sort of the same thing, though on the air mage near Rimmington. Works if you want to do other stuff but I talk to the random people that come by and check back to make sure I don't die. It is nice because you don't have to pay much attention so you can do other stuff, like post here. :D

Making it impossible for them to stand in there for 72 hours. All that makes you do is come back to the computer every 6 hours... Off topic slightly...if I have my laptop sitting beside me as I sleep, is that AFK? ;) i would never do it, but it is a valid question
The Dark Lord
To all of you saying "ban them". Why? How is this bothering you in any way? +1 There's no use getting your panties in such a wad over something as small as this. If it really makes you feel better, sure, go ahead and report them. But it really doesn't hurt you in any way, nor does it make the game any less fun for you. I do sort of the same thing, though on the air mage near Rimmington. It is nice because you don't have to pay much attention so you can do other stuff, like post here. :D Technically not AFK unless you physically leave the keyboard. Many players do similar things for training (usually called "semi-AFKing"), and it's perfectly fine in Jagex's eyes. As long as you're talking to people and appearing to be at your keyboard, you should be fine. SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on. SportsGuy
Am I alone or do other people find something...I don't know...WRONG with all of these newer players suddenly gathering in the Lumbridge cellars to use wind strike on the spiders in the Lumbridge cellar? There are more and more of these players popping up. I leveled up Magic the "old fashioned" way and don't power mine or power chop or any of that kind of thing, so I'm probably biased, but something just seems like this is using a cheap loophole in the game...and cluttering up a one-click bank in the process. I'm certainly not trying to cause problems, but it's just...so lame, in my opinion. It's one more of those reasons I don't like PvP (since I'm guessing that's what they're training it for).
