August 14, 200718 yr A list from the past month, during which I was in Taiwan. 300 (Twice) - I watched it on the airplane. The subtitles were in Chinese. So I couldn't hear most of it. But still, it was pretty good...Not as good as I expected, but I had really high expectations. I still don't see why so many people are obsessed with it. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Twice) - The first time was the day after it came out. Plain English. No subtitles. It was pretty good for a movie based off a long book. The second time was after I read the 7th book. The last 20 minutes were in 3D and there were Chinese subtitles. Due to the fact that I read the 7th book, I found out that they missed a lot of things - Some important ones. But still, the 3D was pretty cool. Ratatouille - I hope I spelled it right. Anyways, once again with Chinese subtitles. It wasn't much, but the only thing that prevents me from saying it sucks is that the ending wasn't too cliched. August 15, 200718 yr Saw II  2104th to 99 Hunting January 10th 2008Proud Fan Of The Offspring Since 1998
August 15, 200718 yr The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy Bought them on DVD, wanted to rewatch them again before seeing the third. I'd forgotten how good these films were. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
August 15, 200718 yr Letter From Iwo Jima Another fantastic WW2 movie. What I loved most about it was how thoroughly it humanises the "enemy". Through this movie you are awed by the suffering and bravery of the Japanese soldiers. The action was great and the battle history was very accurate. 9/10 for this movie :)
August 16, 200718 yr Hot Fuzz - Absolutely hilarious movie. Second time through, and still epic. The Great Escape - Couldn't decide what to watch, and I saw this there, and I really felt like watching it. Great of course, it says it's based on a true story but I don't know about that. Slither - Comedic horror movie, and it is actually completely awesome. Probably only for a certain kind of audience though, I could see some people thinking it is just stupid. Dune - I don't know why people dislike this movie so much. I loved it.
August 16, 200718 yr Wow! I just saw Rush Hour 3 last night and even though it was only 1 1/2 hrs, it'll be the funniest 1 1/2 hours of your life :) Best film everrrr! 100/10 ;p P.S To guy above - I agree Hot Fuzz is an awsome film too :) Returned to Runescape June 2011 after a 3 year break :)

August 16, 200718 yr i watched Dune a few weeks ago on sci-fi, very long :| but fun to watch Did you watch the David Lynch 1984 version, or the SciFi channel's 2000 version? A lot of people say the SciFi one is better, I haven't seen it yet though. The 1984 version (which I just watched) is only 2 hours long, so it is a normal length for a movie. I think you probably saw the SciFi channel one. Did the worms look like the tubes of a vacuum cleaner? If so, you probably saw the 1984 version.
August 16, 200718 yr I saw Evan Almighty the other night. Its quite a good film, but I dont think id say its as good as bruce almighty.
August 17, 200718 yr Stardust - I thought this was an excellent movie, and proof of that is that I"m making a post about it :P I guessed the ending very early on, but it's not the ending that mattered, it was the journey(as we have learned from many, many fantasy novels/movies). You should all see it :) other stuff that i've seen recently but didn't care to post about are: The Simpsons Movie(eh) Transformers(worth a watch) The Fountain(which was good but confusing at the end) and a few others that I can't remember so they must not have been important :-w
August 18, 200718 yr The Hours - I might have enjoyed it if the women in it were hot. A Scanner Darkly - Awesome movie, based on a Philip K. [bleep] novel. The animation definitely gives it something special, but I think even if it was live action it would have been good. EDIT The Island - Oh boy, Michael Bay definitely knows how to do mindless action. I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed it, and this is the third or fourth time seeing it.
August 19, 200718 yr Farce of the Penguins- It was hilarious. I usually don't like movies with multiple comedians, but this one was very funny.
August 19, 200718 yr Superbad - Hilarious. I won't ruin it as it just came out. I saw it last night. First time I ever had trouble getting into an R-rated movie but I did it. Funiest movie ever, period.
August 19, 200718 yr Final Destination - I haven't watched it since it came out, and damn I totally forgot what it was like  Awesome movie, and the ending is just a nice touch.
August 19, 200718 yr The Killer (1989) (Dip huet seung hung) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097202/ I enjoyed it but not as much as I enjoyed Hard Boiled. That being said it's still a great film. I've seen it a few times before and I just realised that big parts of the dialogue in The Killer is used in Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx album - which is understandable as there are plenty of great quotable lines. He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God. - Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)
August 20, 200718 yr Borne Ultimatium. Fantastic movie. The action was great, but the story was a bit weaker than the previous movies. My only critisism is the annoying camera work. The shaky camera effect has it's place, but it was used throughout the entire movie for every shot... it got a bit annoying after a while. Anyway, 8/10 I recon
August 20, 200718 yr Well, after a short holiday, I have quite a list... These are the highlights, I might add some that I've forgotten later on: Das Leben Der Anderen -Whoa. Loved it. See it! Often compared with Goodbye Lenin because it also deals with the DDR and the communist society, but to hell with the comparison. Das Leben is subtle, tinted with grays (both literally and figuratively speaking) and it's touching. The only part which seemed far-fetched is the death of one of the characters (won't say more than that), but other than that, this film deserved its Oscar. Die Blechtrommel - Odd, unsettling, brilliant. This film left me speechless, slightly disgusted and I've been mulling it over ever since I saw it. It's filled with symbolism and double meanings and deals with the invasion of Poland and the subsequent war from the point of view of a 3-year-old boy who decides to stop growing when he sees the adults around him go crazy. Based on the novel by Germany's renowned writer GÃÆÃâÃâünter Grass. The Seventh Veil - Quite disturbing film about a love-hate relationship between a teacher and his pupil. Dates from a time (40s) when Freud was "in" and German-sounding psychiatrists served as the deux ex machina. Still, I loved it, for its great portrayal of the odd relationship and characters. Mrs Brown - Solid British quality, with solid British acting and a solidly British story. Alas, it made for a perfectly solid picture but a nevertheless rather boring film. It won't stick, I'm afraid. Just can't hold a candle to the many pearls I've seen lately. Becket - Gielgud, Burton and O'Toole in one film about the fascinating Thomas Becket. Couldn't possibly go wrong in my book. Sadly, I couldn't watch it till the end, because it was broadcast too late for me, working girl. I did see the first hour though and hope to purchase the DVD to continue watching. The Trouble With Harry - One of Hitchcock's less renowned, understandably up to a certain level, but still, it's this film that made me fall for the master's work, together with Dial M for Murder. Subtle humour, slightly weird and thoroughbly enjoyable. The Simpsons Movie - Fun. Had a lot of good laughs, but it won't stick. Oh well. Not all films have to wrack one's brain. The Lady Eve - This film bears both the elements of the silent film and the whole generation of films following it. A combination of slapstick and sex comedy make this film -strangely enough- very modern. I liked the way it was shot, the plot was okay, but not particularly strong. Loved it, but The Palm Beach Story took it a notch higher. The Palm Beach Story - I've been using "nitz" and "yitz" for a few weeks now at all possible times, confusing the hell out of some dear friends and driving them to desperation... I liked this film even better than the Lady Eve (same director). Truly a classic, loved it from start to end. Sex comedies of the 30s where a lot more interesting, fun and, well, sexy, than "How to lose a guy in 10 days" and likewise crap. Bringing up Baby - The star of this film is not Grant, nor Hepburn, but the leopard ("Baby"). Quote: "He's three years old, gentle as a kitten, and likes dogs." - "I wonder whether that means that he eats dogs or is fond of them?" A fine screwball comedy, but it doesn't live up to The Philadelphia Story or His Girl Friday. Excellent entertainment, however. These films are teaching me how to be a woman! Arsenic and Old lace - I swear I can just keep watching this film over and over and over again. There are simply no words to describe this one. I'm not one for lists, but this easily makes it into my top 3 of best comedies ever. Pull up a tombstone and watch it. Really. Capra's the man.
August 21, 200718 yr Well, after a short holiday, I have quite a list... These are the highlights, I might add some that I've forgotten later on: Woah, that was a lot of movie. I have to confess... I haven't even heard of half of them lol. Oh well, so long as you enjoyed them
August 21, 200718 yr On the plane home from France: Hot fuzz-kinda gross and weird...but pretty darn funny and cool aswell..."This reawy, reawy hewts" :P  blades of glory- LOL Disturbia-awesome movie Fracture-Best movie I watched on the plane...excellently done Listen to the mighty words of Bloodredsword. Tip it MGC Xbox live leader board!
August 21, 200718 yr Author My computer was broke, so we got a new one. Yay. That also explains why I wasn't online the past three (?) days. For those who care. Abhijan - Yea! Someone who's opinion I always think is worth something told me that this movie was an absolute bore. He couldn't be more wrong. It has got everything. Two romances, car chases (greatly done I might say so: you've got that real feeling of speed and power that comes with a '30 26PK Chrysler), a nasty gang-fight, crooks and a troubled hero. Plus a bunch of Rocks that equel the greatness of the Rocket tower in Otto e Mezzo, the Monolyth of 2001: A Space Odyssey and the whale from Werckmeister HarmÃÆÃâÃâóniÃÆÃâÃâák. Plus the movie really reflects the way I am feeling the past few weeks. I'm curious to what Ray has made more. The Apu trilogy is most famous, so I guess I'll check that out next month. The Prisoner of Shark Island A bit of a less known John Ford movie. Made in '36 and credited a black man on the cast list. Woo, daring. Good work John! Good movie overall. Especially the scene where our Hero is going tot take on the government ship. Influenced Kurusawa's battlescene in Shichinin no Samourai perhaps? Who knows. Jungle Fever [bleep]e Lee. Nuff said. :) Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
August 21, 200718 yr The Bourne Ultimatum What a fantastic thriller, I love those films. :) "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
August 22, 200718 yr The Terminator - Awesome movie. erminator 2: Judgment Day - Even more awesome. The Count of Monte Cristo - I was kind of watching it, but was distracted some of the time. Still a great story. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines - Not as awesome as either of the first two. Also, made the last scene of T2 go out of continuity. On the plus side, had Claire Danes in it. Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, and Austin Powers in Goldmember - I felt like watching these for some reason. I haven't seen them in a while, so I really enjoyed them. I'll have to go with the IMDb ratings when I put them in order from best to worst, 1, 3, and then 2 being the worst. Pretty enjoyable nonetheless.
