What movie(s) did you last see?

"The 4400" entire series - I like it a lot. Sure, the acting is sub-par at times, and it can be kind of stupid at times, but overall it is pretty good. My biggest complaint is sitting through three different intros every episode.

  • I haven't finished it yet, but started watching Forrest Gump...now I understand the line "Run, Forrest, Run!" at least <_<.

  • I watched Ghostbusters last night. Funny movie for those who haven't seen it.

I bought the first season a couple of years ago... I really enjoyed it too. Not quite as good as Xfiles, but not a bad second.

The first season was only about 8 episodes or something though right? Or was it just another profit making DVD release.

Harrington.gif

First season was 5 episodes, seasons 2 and 3 are 12 episodes. I guess the first season was just a trial to see if it went over well or not.

EDIT: Watched a movie :P

Apocalypto - It looked very nice. Had action, had some gore, and a decent enough storyline.

I was pretty impressed by Apocalypto... especially after the kicking it got from the critics. A lot of people were put off by the slow pace, but for me, that was one of the charming things about the movie. (Well, that and the gratuitous bloodthirsty violence lol). ;)

Watched two DVDs last night.

Last King of Scotland : Wasn't expecting much, so I was surprised to fing a cracking movie hidden away here. Touching story and great character development. - 8/10

Pan's Labyrinth : seen this in the cinema a few months ago anyway. My only complaint with the DVD is the aspect ratios. If you've got a widescreen TV like me and need to watch it with subtitles, then you're forced to drop to a 4:3 ratio, otherwise you can only read one line of titles :( Anyway, the movie - 10/10

Alien - Good suspenseful movie.

Aliens - Good sequel that can stand on its own.

Alien 3 - Nothing special, kind of lame at start when the characters just died after surviving all of Aliens.

Alien Resurection - This got way too weird. Jumped from no action to non-stop action, acting could be better and Ripley confused me (did she want to help the aliens or not?). The theme of wanting to save the aliens for research got really old by now too.

Not seen much recently because I've been at Glastonbury but I did manage to get in Hot Fuzz and Dead Right :D

Heh, I was going to also, but I thought it would be the 2000th post that did it. Haven't been paying attention to the count lately though.

EDIT: I did watch a movie...

Without Honor - On the IMDb page it only has 28 votes, so I guess it isn't that popular of a movie. I thought it was OK, although it seemed like it was made pretty cheaply and hastily. It was kind of short also.

I've been watchign quite some movies lately. But for some reason I don't feel like posting it here. :P

Last three movies were yesterday. Die Hard, Die Harder, Die Hard with a vengeance

1. Die Hard

2. Die Hard with a vengeance

3. Die Harder

But they were all good, of course. Tonight I'm gonna see Die Hard 4.0.

Did I say that I saw Ocean's 13 btw? I thought it was the coolest movie of the year so far, go see it.

You watched them in that order? because Die harder is the second one and Die hard with a vengeance is the 3rd but not that it really matters as long as you see the first one first but yea Im seeing live free or die hard tommrow, i'm stoked...

Captivity with Elisha Cuthbert.

A very average horror movie. Started well enough with some semi-original stuff and some great gore, but then degenerated into the usual horror stuff.

Could've been better and I feel they squandered an opportunity.

I saw in the normal order. The 1,2,3 was just like 1 is the best, third after that and 2nd one the least. :)

Last movie I saw was Even Almighty, Now I don't know about any of you who watched it, but I hated it! Everyone in that entire movie was trying too hard to be funny.

Although, there were some funny parts, I'd rate it 2 starts out of 5. <.<

Imperial_120.png

Saw Oceans 13 twice with different friends, second time watching any of that series you pick up so much more, I really enjoyed it both times.

Finally got around to watching Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs and fell in love with both.

Watched movies all day :)

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb: Absolutely fantastic movie. Sellers is a genius actor, and the phone conversations with the Premier of Russia had me in stitches .

1408: It was an ok film and had its moments. Lots of good ol' fashioned suspense and doesn't rely on an obscene gore factor to get the job done.

High Fidelity: Pretty good flick. I'm a fan of John Cusak's comedy and Jack Black was funny as usual. Reminded me of a lot of a book I just read, The Average American Male. Which you should read btw :P

only 5/10... its worth at least 7/10 even if it was just Kim Bauer on screen for 2 hours and nothing else. :D

Watched myself X-Men: The Last Stand today and I was kinda disapointed by it :-s

Yesterday watched some Fight Club, then Pitch Black and chronicles of rid[bleep]. Excellent night really, cept a lot of people bailed on the evening :uhh:

Haha, I re-watched Scary Movie the other night on tv. Geez I forgot how funny it was! It was an awesome movie!

Duck Soup - I didn't actually find it all that funny. It had a few funny parts, but mostly I was kind of bored. As far as classic comedies go I guess Chaplin is more my style.

The Last King of Scotland - I enjoyed it, and thought it was made very well. It's not something I will probably want to watch over and over though.

"Veronica Mars" season 1 - If this didn't have Kristen Bell in it, it would still be awesome. However, since it does have her in it, it is completely and utterly awesome.

Letters from Iwo Jima. BANZAI!!

I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways.

Hostel 2.

About the same as the first... nothing special, and not as gory as they claimed it to be.

The plot was pretty much the same as the first, so that saves a lot of explaining. The best thing about this movie was Lauren German... she's really cute :)

Tarantino is beginning to disappoint me now... that's a few poor movies he made lately.

5/10 for this one.

Well, Eli Roth made Hostel 1 and 2 so...

:( Duck Soup is fantastic. But you should try W.C. Fields, Indy.

"Do you like children?"

"I do if they are properly cooked."

Hilarious.

The Mackintosh Man I enjoyed it a lot. Very easy to watch and pretty entertaining. Paul Newman is pretty good as usual and the film has got this typical seventies look. The action feels a bit outdated though, but that doesn't reall matter.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The End (one can hope) - Big no no. I really liked the first one, the second one was enjoyable with some hilarious parts, but I was really bored this time. The humour was childish at best and slightly crude at its worst. The story, well, let's not even go there. A disappointment.

High Society - This one had been ranked high on my should-have-seen-this-long-ago list. I can't believe I missed out on the fact that it's based on the same play as The Philadelphia Story. I'm aware that High Society is a classic, but I don't get where it gets that status from. I'm a big fan of Grace Kelly, but she could hardly convince me as Tracy Lord. Her gestures are staged and fake, she doesn't look at ease in the part at all. The music, even with the great Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby (I didn't feel any spark in either man's acting either), didn't strike me as exceptional, even though the songs are called classics apparently. I any case, the songs didn't feel like they belonged in the script nor in the movie itself.

Obviously, I'm comparing with The Philadelphia Story, which I fell in love with on first sight. Maybe I would have felt different if I had seen High Society first. But I doubt it.
