Shinobi

I don't think lots of people have seen this, since it's japanese, but it's a really good movie. Why? It's about ninjas! Seriously, it really is good.

Rescue Dawn the best war movie since The Thin Red Line. Go see this. It's rare that you can see something this good in cinema these days.

Is that the same Shinobi that was in the classic video games for the Sega megadrive/genesis? I had the games when I was young, if thats the same character then thats a film I would like to see.

Donnie Darko - My favourite movie. Notice I didn't say the best movie, just my favourite.

Probably not. Looking at my very limited knowledge, the movie isn't based on any video game.

Ratatouille - Fun, light, cute, etc. I don't know what it is with me and Ice Age, Monsters Inc. and the like. I always like watching them, but they just never leave that much of an impression afterwards. Still, entertainment-wise, it did beat Shrek 3 and Pirates 3 to name a few.

Der blaue Engel - I liked this one very much. It's a German film from 1930 with a then still unknown Marlene Dietrich. In my mind, she isn't the star of this film, that part goes to Emil Jannings who plays the poor man who falls into Dietrich's clutches. He switched between comedy and tragedy brilliantly, effortlessly taking the public along for a great ride to a moving ending. Really pleased I got to see it on the big screen.

Twelve Monkeys - Heh, this movie is awesome.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington - Mixed feelings about this. I think I liked it more the first time I watched it though. Jean Arthur I didn't think did all that great. Jimmy Stewart did well enough. The movie just gave off an air of being, well I don't know how to explain it.

I watched 300 last night, and watched Hot Fuzz about an hour ago. Both pretty alright movies. Now I have to walk for 40 minutes to pop them back into the store.. >.>

Cool.

I saw Rush Hour 3 a week ago. It was alright, not really my type of movie. I haven't even seen 2 yet, but there were chicks there sooooo yeaaaahhh.

Just saw Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Pretty funny movie. :D

Aqua Teen hunger force colon movie for theaters thingy... or whatever

yeah... i was disappointed...

Knocked Up - one of the funniest movies I've seen since 40 Year Old Virgin.

You know why I enjoyed it so much? The trailer......

Every comedy trailer shows you virtually ALL of the funny bits, so that when you do eventually see it, it's basically 90 mins of deja vu.

With Knocked Up, they only show you that one scene in the restaurant. So the rest is completely new and hilarious.

La vie sexuelle des Belges - With the country on the eve of a possible separation, I felt like a bit of Belgium-nostalgia. The setting, costumes, the inside jokes, yes, the film is thoroughly Belgian... I think it's for this reason that I liked the first half hour best, because it was still fresh and new. It deals with a young man growing up in a fast changing world (from the 50's to the the 70's), wrapping his head around the weird mix of sexual repression and sexual freedom that was typical of those times. By the end of the film I was starting to lose interest, but nevertheless, a very interesting watch.
Star Wars, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi - You may notice that the order I watched them in isn't one of the main two (release date or by number). This way is called "prequels as a flashback", and is supposed to be a good way to watch it. A problem with watching them by numbers is the Vader-Leia-Luke family thing, it is spoiled for you, among a number of other things. This is supposed to cut down on spoilers while still giving you a good end to the series. If you watched them by release date the last episode you watch would be 3, which is right in the middle of everything. So in theory it was supposed to work, but I don't think I liked it quite as much. If you haven't seen any of them before I would still suggest by release date (4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3) and if you have seen them before then watch them by number (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

The Apartment - Wowza. Billy Wilder to me equals funny, witty and brilliant entertainment for a lazy afternoon. But boy oh boy, does he take it to another level in this film. Funny, witty, yes, but also striking, unnerving and baring a society of adultery and blind ambition, in which thoroughly decent people lose their way. Once again, Jack Lemmon proved his genius as an actor.

Had you seen the appartment before, or not?

Attack of the 50 foot woman - Kind of a let-down. It had some fun moments, but overall it was pretty boring. I even dozed off nearly at the end of the only 66 minute long movie. Hot women though. ::'

I had seen The Apartment before, as a child/teenager and I liked it, but at that age I didn't really get the bitter side of the film. I liked the humour and the lovestory, but now that I've seen it again, I'm impressed with how this film deals with the beginnings of a consumption society (eating fastfood in front of the TV with endless advertisements), adultery, suicide, the things you do in the name of ambition,...

I've only ever seen the poster for Attack of the 50 foot woman. Tssk, and you accuse me of watching overhyped films :-).

I wish I was in Venice now though. Both the Biennale and a fabulous Festival, with new films by Greenaway, Brannagh and Burton. Guh, drool.

The Bourne Ultimatum.

The story kept strong all the way through the movie with all the usual chase and action scenes. The end wrapped up all the loose ends and finished it off quite well.

Overall a good movie.

"Winston! You are drunk!"

"Yes, and you are ugly, but tomorrow I will be sober."

Look ma! No piccies in the siggie!

I saw the Borune Ultimatum on Tuesday night, and I thought that it was a great film.

Some bits were a bit boring (some of the scenes that didnt have action), but this was probably because I havnt watched the first two yet, and I didnt really understand the storyline that well.

The fight scenes were really good, they had a lot of accuracy, and the sound was also good.

I think they used the shaky camera a bit too much, and this made it quite hard to see what was happenning in the fight scenes.

I'd give it about an 8/10.
