May 12, 200719 yr 28 Weeks Later Awesome stuff.... my fave horror movie since Dawn of the Dead (remake). I'd say it was slightly better than the first one in terms of action and gore. 9/10 from me :) :) :)
May 13, 200719 yr Author Had a friend over last night and I basically forced her to watch Werckmeister HarmÃÆÃâÃâóniÃÆÃâÃâák. I think this is the third time I've seen it in two months. And it can't get enough of it. It's so beautiful. After that we went to the cinema and saw The Number 23 which wasn't anything special. Fun for a night, but quite forgetable. The most fun we got out of it was spotting all the 23s in the backgroudns and so that weren't explained. And my housenumber is 32! 23 REVERSED! :uhh: Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
May 13, 200719 yr The History Boys - very local and close to home, very well written and acted. Well worth a watch, especially if you're English, or better yet, from Yorkshire. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
May 13, 200719 yr The day after Tomorrow This film impressed me, but its quite old. :? [http://woopidoo2.deviantart.com][Tip.it Moderator from Dec 10, 2006 to 03 Sep, 2008]
May 13, 200719 yr Today: Severance Me Myself & Irene and just about to watch United 93 on Sky Movies Premier Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. If we let players start doing this, it devalues RuneScape for others. We feel your status in real-life shouldn't affect your ability to be successful in RuneScape" Jagex 01/04/01 - 02/03/12
May 13, 200719 yr 28 Weeks Later - As I mentioned in the other topics, I really enjoyed it. Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow - Really could have been good. But it wasn't. Catch-22 - A great novel, tons of well known actors, and from the director of "The Graduate." Recipe for success right? Wrong. It wasn't very good at all. Might be OK if you have never read the book. Laberinto del fauno, El - Pan's Labyrinth is just as good the second time as it was the first time.
May 14, 200719 yr Dawn of the Dead- great movie, saw this coming on tv and was like, I should watch that, haven't seen it before. Then halfway through I realized that I've seen it at least twice before >_> 28 Weeks Later- Also a great movie, as mentioned in the other topic 28 Days Later- Watched this and I realized that the house that those people were in at the begining of 28 Weeks later is the same one that the people were in at the end of 28 days later(pretty sure). Not as action packed as I had hoped, but had a decent plot
May 14, 200719 yr Author Yesterday I was all settled in for a documentary afternoon with Kenji Mizoguchi: The Life of a Film Director (2.5 hours!) and a two hour video interview Akira Kurosawa: My Life in Cinema, but just as I was an hour into The Life of a Director the doorbell rang. :x A friend, she was bored so decided to drop by (hey, thanks!), and she also decided to force me to watch my own Ozon movies.. So I had to see Sous le Sable, with that wretched b*tch Charlotte Rampling. Oh, I hate her so much. She is the most annoying actress out there, together with Meryl Streep and Isabelle Huppert. But the movie wasn't all that annoying, but not the masterpiece everybody claims it to be. After that I was out of my element, and didn't feel like seeing the documentaries anymore, so I saw Bob Dylan: No Direction Home by Scorsese again, it was because I saw Don't look back recentely and listened to his Albert Hall preformance from '66 a lot. And No Direction Home covers a big part of that period as well. And it was still a very interesting look. Although I don't really like Joan Baez. After that I saw La Strada again which is such a fantastic adventure. Anthony Quinn and Giulieta Masina are so well cast. His such a big brute, and she is so small and refined. Then there's the music of Nina Rota, as in almost every Fellini. I loved it. And after that I saw Fast Company which I had also seen before, but this time I watched with Audio Comentary, and it was a very interesting 90 minutes. Cronenberg's voice is a bit boring, but you'll get used to that after a while. Very imformative, and a must have for fans of Cronenberg, or people who care a lot about (drag)racing. May 14, 200719 yr Author Francesco, Guillare di Dio Oh, boy. What a fantastic film. Everything is so calm, peacefull and especially innocent. I don't think I've ever seen something this pure on celluloid. Fantastic. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
May 14, 200719 yr Francesco, Guillare di Dio Oh, boy. What a fantastic film. Everything is so calm, peacefull and especially innocent. I don't think I've ever seen something this pure on celluloid. Fantastic. Who wouldn't be inspired by just looking at Ingrid Bergman to make such a beautiful film? :) However i do prefer Paisa to any other of Rossellini works. With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

I'd love to see Paisan, since I've seen that footage from Il mio viaggio in Italia, I'm very curious. But I can't find it on DVD. I'm looking for Germany Year Zero (found that one though) and Stromboli as well. I've got way too less Rosselini. Which ones do you reocommend? I've only got Roma, Citta Aperta and Francesco. Tsubaki Sanjuro Follow up to Yojimbo. And you can put it on whenever you want really. Actionpacked, cool twists and a lot of humor. I prefer Yojimbo though. Vozvrashcheniye wanted to see this for a while, and this morning I finally got around to it. And it was pretty good. It really looked amazing, and time past pretty quickly. But emotionally it didn't do me that much, unfortunuatly. Still it's a great debute and I can't wait for his next movie (which is going to premiere in cannes this year). It's such a shame that the young actor (16 years old) who played Andrei died a day before the premiere of this movie. :( Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
May 16, 200719 yr Author Fracture (2007) Not too much. I don't really have an opinion on it. Nice to catch inbetween the good movies, but a little less than the average movie that 'catch in between the good movies'. Asphalt (1929) At the end of the silent era there's still a few gems left. The early talkies can't compete with the newest silents. it's mainly style over substance, but that doesn't spoil the fun. Especially the openingsscenes (Traffic, all this shot at the UFA studios, lol) and the scenes where Betty Amann is seducing Gustav Fr̮̦̉̉lich are great. Notable is also the camera that so freely moves around the sets. There's also a good preformance from Gustav Fr̮̦̉̉lich (Metropolos) and Betty Amann is cute as hell. Recomended for those interested in early German cinema and the influences of it on Hollywood. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
May 16, 200719 yr Spidey-Webster- Man- 3 Yeah, same here. Was okay. I'm not an avid reader of comics, so I don't really know the back story, just what my hubby has told me. My kid loved it though. I'm a married mother that plays RuneScape. Got a problem with that?

Well, i like Pasia the best, it's just the epicness of it without being an epic. The stories across Italy are all pretty incredible. I mean Fellini wrote one of the stories, and Amidei wrote one. He was also the writer of Rome, Open City. However some feel it doesn't quite live up to standards i think it is incredibly heavy and moving at times. Then at other times funny and haertwarming (like the story about Pasquale an orphan child meeting a black GI in Rome). My other favourite Rosselini is Rome, Open City which you have seen and Germany Year Zero. GYZ is a film so ahead of it's time it's a masterpeice just because of that. But Rossellini was also ahead of his time in the majority of his Neo-Realist movies. You can catch Paisa on Film 4 if you have that, very rarley. Same with Germany Year Zero. I recorded them directly from that, as I couldn't find a copy. If you can't wat there is a version fo Paisa avaliable on DVD, however through an Italian site which costs quite a bit. Here With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. May 17, 200719 yr Author Hm, too bad that version of Paisa is without subtitles. So I won't get much out of it. I'll just hope for Criteron or Masters of Cinema (They'd go release more Rosselini this year if I'm correct) to release it soon. I'm going after Germany Year Zero soon. Thanks for the info, Satenza! Yesterday I've seen The Devil's Rejects which was so unbelievably cool! Go see it, if you like violence and sadism a lot. :D Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
May 19, 200719 yr Watched Children of Men. I thought it was pretty good, directed in a very interesting way. Lots like Half-Life 2 ( ), [and yes, I'm aware Half-Life 2 is a rip off of a rip off of a rip off and so forth]. Overall impressive. Which one was the shot that was like 15 minutes long? I thought I saw it, but the blood mysteriously washed off the screen.
May 19, 200719 yr Hm, too bad that version of Paisa is without subtitles. Quite suprising, since the orginal had to be subbed for the Italian population on it's release because of the dialect :P With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. I thought I saw it, but the blood mysteriously washed off the screen. The longest shot is actually only 6:03, which is part of that part. The blood slowly fades as he walks into the building that the woman and baby are in, and I think that is when they stitched together the shot digitally to make it appear as one long shot. It's still pretty impressive, with the amount of stuff going on. It did kind of disappoint me though that it wasn't actually all one shot. 28 Days Later... - I always enjoyed the music in this movie, but for some reason this time I really, really liked it. Maybe I was focusing on other aspects of the movie this time through since I have watched it fairly recently and pretty often, so I knew what was happening the entire time without really paying attention. Raving - I really don't watch enough film shorts. In fact, this may be only one I really watched. It was good, my opinion will be greatly skewed though because I love Zooey Deschanel. Julia Stiles wrote and directed it, which is pretty cool. We need more hot young female writers/directors :P . Oh and this is free on iTunes, or search on google and it should be the first result. 11:14 - Five interwoven events that connect via a car wreck at 11:14. It's pretty cool how interconnected every part of the story is. Pretty good movie, but not really much to talk about. Get Over It - A crappy high school movie that for some reason I really enjoy. The Fountain - Second time through, so I knew what to expect. I caught a lot more of the connections between the three stories, and understood the endings better this time through. I just bought the graphic novel, which is supposed to explain things even more. Even if this movie didn't have any plot whatsoever, it would still be decent just because of how it looks. It is really, very beautiful.
May 20, 200719 yr Spiderman 3, was an ok movie. Going to check Pirates Of The Carribean 3 At World's End out in a few days :). Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.
May 20, 200719 yr Author Quite suprising, since the orginal had to be subbed for the Italian population on it's release because of the dialect :P It's got Itallian subs. I meant it didn't have English subs. ;) At a friends place I saw Jacka$$ 2 which was hilarious. And after that I showed him The Descent he's such a horror fan, and he hadn't seen it. He thought it was fantastic. I had seen it before, but it was still scary as hell. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
May 20, 200719 yr Shrek the Third - I was hoping for more from this movie :(. The first two were fantastic, but this one seemed that instead of working on the plot, they worked on the backrounds and characters instead.... Thank You for Smoking - This movie was brilliant. The whole way it was presented with the humor and the acting.
