Last few days I've sene Onibaba and Nijushi no hitomi (Twenty-Four Eyes) I wrote a lot about them in Dutch, and I don't feel like doing that again. So I'll just say that Onibaba was very good, and Twenty-Four Eyes made a very, very deep impression and is one of the best films I've ever seen.

I just saw Blades of Glory last night. Our newspaper said it was a "nothing better to do" movie, but I thought it was the funniest movie I have seen in along time.

lope6jw0.jpg

Blood Diamond-Wasn't really expecting all that much, I didn't hear much good about it. But I was surprised, it was actually pretty good; quite entertaining. It won't stay with me at all (as in, in a few years I will probably completely forgot having seen it), but it wasn't bad at all.

Pursuit of Happyness-This one was ok, kinda was expecting something more. It's an supposed to be an uplifting movie, and it is at the end (actually brought a smile to my face). However, it really was a downer :(. The first...99% of the movie is pretty much all negative situations. Even when something remotely good happens, something worse counters it. So all this really builds to make the ending that much sweeter, but it really was a downer kind of movie for the majority of it.

That looks like a pretty interesting movie. I'll see if I can find it anywhere :D .

It has Jenna Fischer in it as a stripper, so I will definitely be seeing it :P

Yep, it really all falls on the ending. The ending was really short too, but now that I think about it was probably best. It was 2+ hours of "life is crappy and hard, life is even more crappy and hard, I got a small break to bring my self up to the normal crappy and hard level again" followed by 1 minute of "yes, finally I get a break." But if they dragged that out it would probably not been as good.

Lost Highway - Just watched Independence Day a day or two ago and I was looking at Bill Pullman's IMDb list and there this movie is. A David Lynch movie, and you can definitely tell it is. Not one of my favourites of his, in fact it would probably be least favourite so far, but still I liked it. I just think it showed off his style very well.

The Fountain - I've heard good things and I've heard bad things, but it is a Darren Aronofsky film so I wouldn't have it any other way. I knew it would be good, but I'll admit I went into it not expecting to like it nearly as much as his other films. Don't know why, that's just what I was thinking. But I was wrong, it turned out to be about just as good as his other two I've seen. The film is beautiful. That is the best way to explain it, or maybe magnificent. It looks great. The story was good, wrapped itself up at the end, but I think it is going to require another watching to really get what is going on. Definitely see it if you like Aronofsky's other work, but don't expect to see a movie like Requiem for a Dream or Pi.

Blades of Glory -- I loved it

I saw The Pursuit of Happiness. Very good movie, I think. I would recommend watching it if you have the chance. :)

Happy Feet!

I expected a happy feel good film about dancing penguins. What I got was an absolutely visually stunning, brilliantly voiced and animated film about dancing penguins, with an eco-message at the end.

My only criticism was that for a U certificate it wasn't quite as happy as I expected, kinda. I mean, did Mumbe get with Gloria? Why did he turn her down? :(

Cleverly done though, deserved the Oscar.

Criterion ;) Although the Uk version (MoC) is better, but you'd have to import it and stuff, plus it most likely wont play on your DVD player/T.V. It's region 2 and PAL. :"(

I've seen MikaÃÆÃâÃâël (1924 - Carl Th. Dreyer) yesterday, and it was very good. :)

I should have seen it a lot earlier in the theaters, don't know why I didn't. The DVD screener leaked onto the net on March 30, and since the real DVD isn't coming out for another month and a half I just went ahead and got the screener. Only difference is it is watermarked and black and white at different intervals through the movie.

Brick as good as last time no change on how I viewed it

A Scanner Darkly I didn't really like this movie, it was ok with a few twists and turns in the plot and an innovative way of showing the movie but I didn't think the acting sold it..

Grindhouse Planet Terror was a lot of fun to watch with the random explosions and every bullet exploded half a person's body. The trailer's were funny and included an awesome shot at Rob Zombie. Death Proof movie kind of slow but the action sequences were great to watch.

Pulp Fiction A lot better than the first time I watched it. I knew what was coming and it just enhanced the movie, although the scene with the gimp was lessened due to the lessened shock effect. My friend didn't like it when he was little(he turned it off) so I had him watch it again, and now he loves it.

The Magic Voyage haha, my friend has this movie sitting in his room and it was one terrible movie. One of those movies that are so bad you just have to laugh at it.

I went to see Danny Boyle's new movie Sunshine last night... and omg... it was awesome! Gotta be one of the best sci-fi movies I've ever seen.

The character development was fantastic. The plot was intense, the suspense was "edge of your seat", the effects were great and the sets were really something. The directing... well, it was masterful.

I know it's early days yet, but this is my movie of the year so far.

Spider-Man - Back in the day I saw this in theaters. I didn't really like Kirsten Dunst all that much, so I didn't really care for this movie. This time watching it I was very, very happy with it. Probably because I remember not liking it at all.

Spider-Man 2 - Even better than the first one :D .

Grindhouse - Copy pasta from the Grindhouse topic: It was pretty awesome, I mean really awesome. A week or two ago on digg there was an article about getting ready to see it. It said the best way to see movies is to go into it not thinking too highly of it, so you are extremely pleased with how good it turns out. So it made a list of 10 reasons why it could be better. Reading that list turned out to be a good idea, it worked exactly like it was supposed to. Well, it did at first. After the opening "preview" I was in the mood and forgot totally about anything bad.

I will say I enjoyed Planet Terror more than Death Proof, but I will also say I heard a lot of bad things about Death Proof when it was actually pretty good.

Goya's Ghosts (2006 - Milos Forman) - Alright.

Red River (1948 - Howard Hawks) - Good.

Trouble in Paradise (Ernst Lubitsch - 1934) - Fantastic.

Malcolm X (1992 - [bleep]e Lee) - Very good.

M:I:III (2006 - J.J. Abrams) - Good.

13 Tzameti (2005 - G̮̩̉̉la Balbuani) - Below average.

I wonder what the Sneak Preview is going to get me tonight. I think Employee of the Month, but I hope not.

300

Well, what can I say... The movie starts at a fast pace, continuing that til the very end and to be honest, the endless action scenes and bloodbath (CGI blood though) were quite entertaining and kept me at the edge of my seat at all times. I don't want to write a review of this though. Overally, a good 9/10 for a rating (based on the movies I've seen this year) :P

Wild Hogs

A few weeks ago on a soggy Wednesday afternoon I was feeling dull and bored, wanted to check out a comedy that would entertain me enough to wipe a sad glint from my face. Went to see this movie. Man, I was literally laughing during the whole movie, the entire crowd at the theatre did. Now I've read mixed reviews about this movie, thank god I didn't read them before I went to see this movie. Some critics have no sense of humour at all.

Ah well. Comedy of the year. 10/10 :D

I saw 300 few days ago and I can't stop thinking about it. Its really masterpiece in technical aspects but also movie is somehow very heroic and battle scenes are amazing

The Da Vinci Code - I enjoyed it. Has Jean Reno in it, who is always awesome :P .

Ice Age: The Meltdown - Generic 3D animated talking animals kids movie. Alright if that's what you like, but I found it to be kind of stupid. I can normally handle kids movies, even really enjoy some, but this one annoyed me.

I just watched the movie Blood Diamond and it is now my favorite movie. It was great. Sad, but great.

Borat-Honestly, wasn't that funny. Highly overrated in my opinion.

An Inconvenient Truth- I liked it, it was very interesting.

And that has made all the difference.
