How did you/how do you make money?

Things you would do when you were younger to make money.. or maybe still do?

I used to go to this place that sold energy drinks (500ml) for $1.25 each and they sold at the shops for $3.

I would go to the skate park with 24 of them in an icebag and sell them $2.50 each.. So I made $30 profit easy.

I got the idea from merchanting in runescape

I did a similar thing only buying multipacks of cans and selling them on.

Used to be about £1 for a full pack of 6, split them into singles and sell them for 30p+.

Buy one get one frees used to be awesome as well as PE days where you could easily get rid of 3 or 4 multipacks in a matter of minutes.

Best of all the supermarket was literally opposite the school so it was easy money and the only hard bit was getting to the supermarket to restock as they weren't too keen on letting the pupils out. But some fake slips always worked (just needed 1 real slip at the start of the year then it was a case of photocopying it and carefully overwriting the signature and handwriting to make it look real).

I was kinda the kid at school how always had a stash of drinks, sweets and some change which I could lend (for interest of course).

Made a fair bit of cash per week.

That's awesome : )

I bet I could buy bulk sweets and snacks and sell them at that skatepark.. it's very hot and they are hungry/thristy..

Even if it is illegal.. which is stupid.

Only a few £ here and there.

Always kept with people I knew and the interest was generally a few sweets or some food.

Nothing too sinister, just helping people out for a little something back. The sweets and drinks where the big money makers though.

Used to make more per week then most of the people doing news paper rounds.

I only did it from about 13 to about 16.

I did the same at high school with Coke, they removed normal Coke cause they're "health paranoid" so I'd buy a 6 pack of cans, take a cooler in my backback and sell 'em off for 4$ Each since they were too lazy to walk down the street. made me 4x profit and payed for my car fuel during year 12 so im happy.

I work landscaping, on farms and ranches, on contract work, and rarely a mechanical job.

I do a lot of blue-collar work for someone in the top 10% of high school and near perfect PSATs.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

I flunked my psats lmao >.< I'm so ashamed. My teacher told us they stood for practice SAT, and I had a lot of crap going on irl and so I didn't bother studying and I stayed up all night. I got in like the 80t percentile I think.

I used to landscape as well, mowed lawns 20$ a pop. Usually took an hour each, however, once I charged someone 20$ per without looking at their yard. OHHHHHHHH boy. A HUGE [wagon] [bleep]ing yard, took me 3 hours to mow and 7 LAWN BAGS EACH TIME. All for 20$ >,< good grief.

Lets see, odd jobs.. I've mowed lawns, shovelled driveways, delivered newspapers, cleaned showers, babysat, blown/raked leaves, and copied poems (don't ask).

Real job wise - Made pizza for 3.5 years, work in the automotive department of a hardware store, and program for one of the nearby municipalities.

Had a morning paper run when i was younger, done that for years.

At the start of high school there was a killing (!) to be made in selling cigarettes to the neds and crazy kids that didn't look old enough to buy their own. A friend of mine done this, buying a pack of cigarettes and selling them individually to the smoker kids for crazy profit.

As for proper jobs, i worked part-time in a super market when i was still at high school then worked for a year and a bit before Uni as a technician type person in an office complex.

I worked as soon as I was able to at 16 at a dollar store near my house. When I graduated High School and went to college, I got a job working at the front desk of my campus computer center. I never really did odd-ball things for money, mainly because I don't think I'm charismatic enough to pull it off.

Chinese New Year was my anti-tax day.

There was some other way I got money that included a bit of trickery, but I don't quite remember what it was.

Worked delivery for a pizza place when I was in high school. I also would go in on cases of candy bars with a friend of mine. We'd make a trip to Sam's Club and bring back all the good candy bars to school. We'd sell when groups like Spanish Club or Choir were selling their fundraiser bars (not brand name bars like we had) and would make a killing. Even stole a couple of the boxes that the fundraiser kids would sell out of to make it legit. I actually was making a lot of money during that time because of my regular job too (7.50/hr plus tips).

I wasn't a drug dealer, but I was the 'middle man' who knew lots of people and got a nice cut.

When I was 16 I could buy alcohol (never got carded) which I would do for free for mates but earned me quite a bit from others. I'd also buy a packet of smokes and they would sell pretty quickly for 1$ each.

When I was a kid I used to do a lot of work at my grandma's farm, and my dad would pay me. Mostly I just got my money from my allowance though. In recent years I've had a lot of boring warehouse jobs. The only one that's somewhat interesting was as a moderator in an MMORPG. Paid ridiculously well considering I mostly watched movies while kicking naughty kids from the game. Could sit in my underwear and work too (I never did).

Now I'm a university student and have no time for work.

Tbh most of my money came from saving up the money I got for birthdays/Christmases. I'd easily get $60+ for each of those, and sometimes more. That was always enough for me because there was never much I wanted to buy. Although I also had a few lemonade stands (when I was waaaay younger XD) and made like $40 off one of those one day. I would also "cat sit" for neighbors. I'd feed their cats when they went out of town :P

Around 12-13 I started shingling/residing/painting houses with my dad in the summers, as well as mowing some lawns. Would get paid anywhere from $50 to $150 a day depending on what the project was and how long we were there/how hard we worked. Did this each summer until I was 16.

At 16 I got my first "real" job (you know, paying taxes and all that fun stuff) working in the kitchen of a hospital. Paid decent enough for a first job and the hours allowed me to be very flexible with my schedule, and my coworkers were amazing...good times.

Once I graduated high school I quit that job and didn't get another one until the summer after my first year of college (so one year after I quit) and that was with an Engineering firm as an Engineering Technician in training. This is my current job (only work during the summers) and pays $12 to $15 an hour depending if I have to travel or not. I also drive routes for my dad once in a while which pay $100 for a 5 hour drive.

During school however I don't have any real jobs, just hobbies that pay once in a while - online poker (low stakes) and playing billiards at the bars for money.

May the presents of our lord and savior, Santa, be with you this holiday season!

Cut wood for $120 a cord, and in the winter commercial fished for a couple hundred dollars a day. This was when I was 14-17. My little 13 year old brother currently has a nice little job with the fish that wasn't available to me when I was young, as there was no market for the specific type of fish. He makes $30 an hour working in our heated, pump house, which we wired speakers into for surround sound music. Ahhh... to be a 13 year old making over a grand a week.
