whats so good about pokemon?

(the only 3 i can remember are those ''Diglets'', second some kind of a blue dragon, and a rhino, very rare last 2 at my school) but dont you think

All pokemon is bad except the new gba games. In those games, Pokemon is immensely complicated and requires a lot of thinking and strategy. You may think itÃâáÃâæs just a giant tic-tac toe game, but a lot of it is based on sequences, limits, and algorithms. They have a base stat, and different values are added onto it, including evs, ivs, personality, and dvs. Edit this post once I find those Pokemon equations lol.

It was popular when I was in high school even. Then Yu-gi-oh came. There all the same, some crappy anime cabbage.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

never disrespect anime, its like saying, "i dont like any music with a guitar in it"... it is amazing... ok Yu-Gi-Oh was actually awful... and as far as japanese things go, they are probably the most inventive with creatures, i thnk most people would have trouble creating an army of more than 10 creatures that you've made in your head... and what would be hard about it, is drawing them. and i do draw manga, i'm currently working on mythological creatures.

Trading card game is great too. Much more of the strategy part in it than in blue/red. I mean the gameboy version, you get all the cards (around 200 of them) for almost free, and you can play solo too (ofcourse it's not that much fun that way).

The only people who call Pokemon a 'kiddie game' are little brats who try to act like they're mentally superior just because they don't play video games, or they tried playing the game and didn't understand what to do (congratulations). If you ever even bothered playing the games, you'd see they're pretty good RPG's as a whole. I've watched several episodes of Pokemon on TV as well, and I must admit it's not even nearly as good as the video game, the stories are usually ever so thin and not very interesting, with a few exceptions.

Pokemon is one of the first mainstream anime shows to air in the USA. Somebody on this thread hit the nail on the head when he/she said the early episodes were better than the new ones. I'm no big fan of anime but it's fun to watch once in a while.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

People shouldn't make assumptions about Pokemon if you don't even know what it's about, if you just want to bash it. It may not be Steven Spielberg class but it is far more original and better than the new crap like Yu-gi-oh, Digimon (no comment, this show is a horrible rip off), Duel Masters (though this show makes the occassional anime critic/ funny/ironic remark about 'how come you can afford applying two bottles of hair gel for every episode but you can't afford a train ticket?", stuff like that)

Yeah, it competes in a whole different category. 8) This one is definitely not a kiddie game as it is nearly impossible to beat the Pokemon TGC without really using your brains. It also contains many unique cards which (I think) can't be bought in stores, such as the Mew with a PPower that makes it invulnerable to evolved stage pokemon attacks. I do think the real-world TGC is a rip off and it's designed to steal money from kids that get addicted to it. A booster pack containing 8 cards of paper with pictures should not cost $5.

Meh..it was fun when I was the right age. I enjoyed the blue/red era and the card game was a lot of fun. I actually had a friend whose grandparents bought him tickets to a tourny so I went :oops: ...I did get second place though with the my ubar charizard.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

They really did kill the game though by trying to make it appeal to kids. All the stuffed animals...and blankets...and clothes...

Just because I think its a kiddie game, doesn't mean I'm a little brat. I just I don't like it. Okay? As for what you said on it being a rip-off, I couldn't agree more. Kids played this all the time when I was in highschool like I said before. Now the fad is almost gone, no one plays it anymore. (no one that I know) I understand the game is addicting but do you have play it and talk about it 24/7, and spend whatever money you get on it? No. I think the parents of the kids who were obsessed with this crap should taken more control. (If it was nescesary)

Indeed, you had to combine Blue with Red in order to get them all on yellow. And after I got them all, I spent ages of training in the dungeon where Mewtwo was. I had like the bestest deck ever (all maximum level+ PP):

I agree with everything you said there. Pokemon is a really deep RPG, anyone who says that Pokemon, or any other Nintendo game like Mario, is for kids is completely narrow minded.
