Pumpkins just might be rarer than crackers, practically no one I know even kept any or has any right now.

I have heard rumours of a certain group af players that each have well over 200 pumpkins each. So They aren't rarer then crackers, they were just alot easier to buy out when they were considered junk.

An addition to our player profiles (or whatever Jagex calls them) that would be really interesting and, I would think, doable, would be a total value of each player's bank. There are some really big numbers out there.

Actually, Pumpkins I believe were the first rare ever released? Plus, back when they came out, they healed 12 hp, which was quite a lot back then. Add in space issues and other stuff, I would feel quite safe saying Pumpkins are almost as rare as Crackers. Crackers had a better chance of surviving through till now then a Pumpkin did.

Well I could be wrong, it's not like I have inside information. :P

Rumors are just rumors. I would say that is very unlikely.. until I see bank pics of 200 pumpkins of several people, I doubt it very much.

They heal 14 hp (so I am told, I have never eaten one) which at the time was the highest for 1 bite food.

Pumpkins were the first holiday drop and most people did not get any. IIRC at the time there was only 3 servers and a very small player base *that was not expecting a drop* so no one waited for it or knew it was coming. Nor did anyone realize the significance of RS's first holiday drop. You have to remember this was the first holiday drop, ever. Neither was it announced or explained. For all people knew, pumpkins would rain from the sky everyday in November. At the time, they were just treated as free Halloween food.

On Christmas we pretty much expected there would be drops (due to the earlier pumpkin drop) sp regular players got a lot of crackers. There were so many phats people were just dropping them on the ground or selling to gen store because of lack of bank space.

Phats, santas and masks were hardly rare before the player population exploded due to the release of RS2. Half the players had them/sold them/dropped them. In fact, santas and masks were so common practically no one would wear them in parties because they had no rarity value at all compared with the phats.

It's all speculation, of course, but I would say the list of holiday rares would be:

Pumpkins

Crackers

Easter Eggs

Party Hats

Halloween Masks

Santa Hats

Though it is possible crackers are the least common. I have no idea about disks of returning or half wines.

This has probably been asked a million times before, but I only read this topic from time to time. Please don't chastise me for asking if its been answered :-?

What I would like to have some information on is the state of Spirit Shields and how close they are to being sold on the GE.

With all the recent updates you would think that Corporal Beast trips would become more frequent and a much greater number of SS would make it into the marketplace. However it seems like they are hardly ever being traded in the system.

Are these just being artificially held at a high price? Seeing as anyone doing Corp. trips is most likely an experienced and wealthy player I would believe most of them would avoid anything that would bring the price down. But now as more and more people can take down the beast, will the price finally be on the general marketplace?

If you think that 95 prayer and 96 herblore are commonly accessed skills, then you are very wrong.

Well no, thats not what I'm implying really. What I would like to know is if there are any trends to suggest that Spirit Shields will have reduced price due to a larger supply and if it is feasible for them to be in the "general" market in the near future.

i might be bad at merching tbvh but it looks like santas are stabilizing

I like santas here. In fact, I've spent all my available cash buying santas.

I sifted through this thread and saw that I bought thirteen santas back in October when I thought that they were relatively cheap. After halloween, they went up, and I sold them all and bought haloween masks (which were relatively cheap at the time). Now halloween masks are way up, and I sold them all and bought (eighteen) santas again. So in this process of buying and selling santas and masks, I went from thirteen santas in October to eighteen santas two months later. That's not really huge returns, but it is positive, and I don't have to feel like I've cheated anyone. Just simple buying low and selling high. Plus I think that I've done a service to the economy by helping to stabliize the price of these small rares. When the price gets too low, I buy, helping to drive the price up. When the price gets too high, I sell, helping to drive the price down.

I don`t think most people have a problem with people who merchant rares. The problem I (and several others I have talked to) have, is people who buy large numbers of rares for the sole sake of sticking them in their banks for years. It`s one thing to buy and sell at optimum times, but it`s a whole other thing to buy and just hoard them for all eternity.

Off topic - I bought 67k power ammys for flipping and I saw that the were going up steeper then normal. So I realised a clan was merching them. I dumped them thinking that I would take down the clan, then buy up the ammys again after the panic (did this to Be Mercher in the summer). Turns out it`s a very strong buyout and I hardly made a dent. I made 7M when I dumped and if I would have dumped now I would have made over 50M. For someone who has only ever lost money on 3 merches in my life I have terrible luck...

H'ween masks are really taking off, red in particular is doing well being worth 8-10 mints.

Yeah, it appears that someone is trying to make the red halloween mask like a seventh partyhat. I had a dozen reds in November -- guess I shoulda kept them a little longer. It will be interesting to see how long they can make the buyout stick. My guess is not very long.

I have 40 mil (40,135,107 gp to be exact) to invest in rares. What rares are stable right now? Also, are santas done falling yet? I might try and buy low before the start going back up.

With 40M all you can really afford is Blue and Green H'weens and Santa Hats. As for what you should invest in, that is hard. I suppose H'weens will rise a couple more times before crashing but I doubt it will be long. So you could try to buy one now and sell in 1-2 days. As for santa hats, it's kinda up in the air right now. They have fallen ~250k for 3 days now I kinda suspect that the hoarders are slowly selling them off rather then a straight dump like it was in the years before. From here it could either fall another 2-3M if an actual crash comes, or they will shoot right back up now. To be honest, if you only have 40M I don't know if you should be puting all of your eggs in one basket so to speak. If you have no use for that money for the next month or two, then it is fine because rares rise over time. But if you need money in the forseeable future, then a crash would really hurt you and it wouldn't be worth it.

So, why don't I wait a few days, if Santas keep on falling, I'll try and grab one at g.e. min. Sound good?

I would wait till after christmas, but that's just me. If you want it as short term investment wise wait. If you want for long term then go ahead and buy it.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have over 500m in santas. I've been flipping them lately. It is getting harder to buy them below mid, so they seem to be stabilizing for now. But it's impossible to predict what effect the holiday might have.
