Have I played since the so-called 'golden days'?

Featured Replies

Hi, I was thinking, did I play since the so-called 'golden days' of RS because I played since 1st. May 2007. Please, I need an answer from any 'veteran' players.

Nope. To my perception, the golden days are generally seen running to the end of 2001 or so.

To me the golden days were 2005/2006, but it's all sentimental bs, your mind prefers to remember only good things so the past allways looks better than the present. That's why the golden days are actually now, as these will be the golden days of the future.

Everyone has a different opinion of when "the golden days" of RuneScape were.. But I think most people - if not all - can agree that they were before 2007. So no.

Personally my favourite times were 2005 & 2006 but I've only played since 2003 or 2004 so someone who has played longer may have a different opinion.

Yep, like Tripsis said, everyone has different thought about the Golden Age so there is no definite age.

After 2007, they made a LOT of major changes, and made Runescape is what it is now. So, I guess post-2007 is the golden age. (For me of course.)

2006 Was my favourite year. Mainly because i maxed out in it and made tons of staking. The game went downhill badly when they removed staking & the wilderness though.. I started in 2002, but meh i can honestly say i had my golden days in the year 06.

Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.

Your perception of the "Golden Days" in just what the past was, when you were low leveled and everything was an adventure. However, 2004 to 2006 was when RuneScape was in its prime. It had everything going for it, a rising gaming population, updates weekly, and holiday events that would rock your socks off. Then again, it was full of trimming scams, tag team scams, and macros. Like Beloved said, your mind will remember the good times and if you seemed to have a lot more fun when you started, then those are your golden days.

Golden days are happening right now. To be called a veteran here from the so-called vets of Tip.It, you need to have joined no later than early 2003 (preferably before 2000 and have hacked into Devious MUD when it was still on Andrew Gower's mom computer), have participated in all significating moments in RS (phat duping, all holiday events with the appropriate item to show for, Fally massacre by either having been killed by Durial or be Durial himself, or assisted at Zezima's funeral), have a fond memory of RSC and still pretend classic is a better game than anything out there today and lastly you need to pretend everything was fine when RS was at its peak in terms of active players (no mention of bots, chinese gold farmers, armor triming, trust trading, clan scamming, iron-rune swap trading or RWT).

There you go, if you respect these conditions, you might get that Veteran status symbol...then again... who cares?

I don't know when the "golden days" of Runescape could really be.

I joined a few months after they brought out RS2; when f2p'ers still had an option to play "RS1" if they wanted to. I don't even remember the year, it feels like forever ago though. Heck, I don't even remember my first username.

I've taken too many long breaks from Runescape to feel comfortable enough with myself and skill levels to call myself a "veteran."

Not to mention I constantly made new accounts to try to out-do my (at the time) "main" so, I have lots of accounts with crappy levels.

-Last year, in November, I finally bought members for the first time on a new account, I'm sticking with that one now, no matter what.

Ok, maybe I had a slight stroke of nostalgia. But anyway, I love seeing other opinions.

Ah the miniclip generation as we used to call them! :)

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

While you were maxing out, my journy was just beginning. There was so much thrill in the beginning, I remember I finished Earnest the Chicken, and got 300gp. I was like woah! Holy Cash Batman! It was a great time to get started in the game. Then 2007 came <.<

Well I still remember when I thought that 50 gp was much.

I think most people refer to before PvP was changed and the GE added to 'The Golden Days'.

Yes, it's true that sitting in Fally W2 for hours typing something out over and over again had a sort of magic to it. And PvP was obviously better.

But look what we have now. Summoning, the GE, GWD armour, and countless little updates that made the game that much better. I would have given both of those up in a heart beat.

...But of course, I'm not a PK'er. At most I'm a avid minigame addict(Those of you whippersnappers call them activities now). So if i did PK, my opinion might be different. But the fact doesn't change, RS has changed for the better.

Hexiled Razz. Player since March 8th, 2005.

Golden days were anything before December 10th, but to me it was the time between the pest control product nerf and December 10th.

Well i would think that everyone would have there own version of the golden era

But mine has to be 2006-2007 for various reasons

mainly has to be the fact that most of my friends used to play at that time that i got very close to

and used to chat to on skype continously

whereas now I hardly have any online

ahhh well life goes on

Veni vidi vici

I came, I saw, I conquered

No

No, lol.

Golden days entailed of the following (all off the top of my head..)

- No item banking

- No Rune Armor

- Certificates in Draynor

- One login server

- Apple pie being the best food (before fishing was introduced)

- Collecting runes and creating coal mules to buy the latest smithable item off of Bluerose13x

- Recognizing the RuneScape population because there were very few of us... that being said there was almost a GOOD guys vs. BAD guys..

Honestly, the list goes on forever.

But of course, there are a lot of improvements now..

- Experience bars

- Do 'x'

- Item banking

- General exchange

Both lists go on forever to be honest..

OL' SCHOOL CIRCA '01, YOU MAD BRO?

Golden days are the days where you enjoyed playing Rs the most, no matter what year it was.

Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.

The Golden Days, in my eyes, were back in 2005/2006 when I started.

The days of PK'ing, no-trade limit, and no GE. Sadly, those days have come and gone, and will never be back. :(

Right now, RuneScape is pretty good, only problem is the price manipulating.

But, pre-2007 was better IMO, but I have a feeling that RS is coming into another "golden age".

However, late 2007- until late 2008 was pure crap.
