1000 alches with nature staff

900 natures x 274 gp = 246,600 GP

5000 fires x 5 gp = 25,000 GP

Total = 271,600 GP

1000 alches with fire staff

1000 natures x 274 gp = 274,000 GP

0 fire runes = 0 GP

Total = 274,000 GP

Difference = 2400 GP per 1000 alches = 2.4 GP per alch in favour of the nature staff

2.4 GP / 65 exp = .0369 gp/exp saved with nature staff

So if you alch from 80 - 99 (~11M exp) you will save 406,153 GP.

1000 super heats with nature staff

900 natures x 274 = 246,600 GP

4000 natures x 5 = 20,000 GP

Total = 266,600 GP

1000 super heats with fire staff

1000 natures x 274 = 274,000 GP

0 fire runes x 5 = 0 GP

Total = 274,000 GP

Difference = 7,400 GP per 1000 casts = 7.4 GP per cast in favour of nature staff

7.4 GP / 53 exp = .140 gp/exp saved with nature staff

So if you superheat from 80 - 99 (~11M exp) you will save 1,535,849 GP.

But how long does it take in hours to get the staff and how much gold is that time worth?

Fools_Taco.png

To be honest, I've got 30k fire runes and rising. Haven't bought a single fire rune since I started training slayer. I can never sell them and I can't sell 'em back to the Tzhaar...so...

Bring on the fire rune wasting staff!

You can use them for MA, umm, whats it called, credits? Investments? Something like that.

Math on page 2

But how long does it take in hours to get the staff and how much gold is that time worth?

The nature staff costs 10k tokens. At a rate of 40k exp/hour (accepted value for level 80) you will get ~4k tokens/hour. So it will take 2.5 hours to get the staff. So if you use it from 80 - 99, then you are valuing your time at:

High alching:

406k saved / 2.5 hours = 162k/hour

Superheating:

1,535k saved / 2.5 hours = 614k/hour

Of course, this is considering you're level 80 d'eering, P2P, and are planning on using these spells to get 99.

Now, if you, like me, are F2P and level 50(ish) then you're getting ~4k exp/hour. That works out to ~400 tokens/hour. So that's 25 hours to get the staff. Then, if you're using it from 80 - 99 then you're valuing your time at:

High alching:

406k / 25 hours = 16.2k/hour

Superheating:

1,535k / 25 hours = 61.4k/hour.

So yeah... they're not really 'worth it' to go out and try to get them but if you like d'eering and are planning on high alching / superheating to 99, then it may be decent to use your tokens on. Of course, I think I'll be buying the staff just because it's going to be a decent status symbol and (even though I haven't seen it yet) I'm assuming it will look good.

I did not say there was nor probablity.

I said there was no drop rate that they trend towards.

... by definition if there is a probability (say, 10%), then yes, there is a drop rate that they trend towards. that being 10%. your entirely semantics based argument doesn't make any sense.

Jagex has stated that they have no problem whatsoever with the junk market, citing that they are glad it gives the various junk items a use lol. Also, junk trading has absolutely nothing to do with defying the prices that jagex has assigned to items. It simply involves replacing some of the gold in a transaction with a less desirable item (junk) to make up for the fact that a player is buying an undesirable item. Or alternatively, trading gold for a highly desirable item, and making it fair by purchasing undesirable items as well.

to the people who says that law and nature staffs have 10% bonus on magic damage, can you proove this?

because the gravite staff is higher lvl and only has 5% magic damage bonus. I don't think jagex would do that silly thing, of giving a lower lvl, "rune saver" and not-having-to-recharge staff.

Not really.

A Drop rates implies the odds directly trend towards that rate. As with the 1/10 rune saved for nature staff.

Monster drops never have any proven drop rates, just rough rates made up by players that never truely work.

The 1/10 chance for the staff is NOT a rate either. If it was, you would get a free cast every 10 spells. The staff has a 10% probability of saving you your nature rune.

You COULD save 2 runes in 10 casts. Making this no more of a rate than the monster drops.

Seriously, ever since the creation of Ice Strykewyrms, I've actually had to purchase fire runes. I hadn't before that point... pretty much ever.

You realize that if the staff "has a 10% chance of saving runes", that means the same thing as "saves 10% of runes"

After 100,000 casts you will of saved about 10,000 natures...

If you do 10 casts, you may or may not save 1. you may get lucky and save 2 or even 3. But the higher the number, the closer you will be to 10% of total casts saved.

Seriously, are you people stupid? 10% is 10%. Every cast you have 1 our of 10 chances to save runes. Do it ten million times and you will have one million out of ten million chances to save runes = the same.

Indeed the staffs are sucky.

But other rewards are good.

Bonecrusher, the 2 prayers, the farming scroll and tome of frost and poison totem all have epic uses

Just as an aside on the farming scroll. It has a 10% chance of giving back a seed if the plant dies. Plants die 10% of the time. So that means you're only getting the effect 1% of the time, which really isn't that exciting. That's the equivalent of shaving about 750 gp off of each snapdragon seed--not bad, but hardly epic.

Anyway, on topic: it's worth noting that you do save inventory space with a law staff. If I'm training prayer at my gilded altar, I can use a law staff and dust runes to let me carry an extra set of dragon bones without spending extra money on teletabs. So that's something. And no, you do not get a 10% damage boost from either staff.

I reported it but my scroll of life glitched. It seems to have a 10% chance of getting a seed from any allotment alive or dead. So for now it's a bit better deal.

Ahh, but is it worth the time obtaining the points for the staff, how much does it save?

I'm gonna say no. Although admittedly it does look pretty cool.

Hi, can you confirm that stats of the staff please? There seems to be some confusion on the forums.

Also, could you tell me what the value of it is? (can be seen by going to the 'items on death' interface) And are the runes that are stored inside it also protected on death?

I suppose the Law Staff is worth it for the Inventory Space when training skills where you teleport a lot.

A law staff takes up one space. A Law rune takes up one space. Not much of a difference, since the only skill I can see you having to teleport around a lot for is farming, but even then you would probably have the magic secateurs (?) equiped.

Hehe. Just had to do it.

In regards to the staves: On average, I will lose money per 10 uses. I might save money with luck. I might lose money with luck. It can go either way. Reguardless, losing 10 gp per teleport on average is worth speeding up things, such as D Bone altering. That one bone over 20k bones will save ~800 trips, so I'm sure that the money lost while using it can be made up in the time saved.

As for the nature staff... You can super heat one extra ore? That **** is just bad.

If anything the Nature Staff is better for this. I can't site a specific example, but I'm fairly certain that while I was superheating Addy Ore I was a bit angry because one more inventory space would unlock another ore.

1 Addy ore + the 6 coal = 7 ore per bar. For 4 bars, you need 28 spaces, so you'd need 2 extra spaces to make it work. =p

I assume you mean with the Coal bag, in which 1 more space will allow for 1 more bar. Still, the Nature staff doesn't have as many uses (in my eyes) as the Law staff would.

The challenge of a mistake is not to avoid it. The challenge of a mistake is dealing with the outcome.

In the majority of situation when you teleport, you are already wielding something.

Therefore the staff takes up an inventory slot, or forces your weapon/tool to take up an inventory slot.

You misread the board.

(Albeit, I'm sure it has some use somewhere, but it seems extremely limited for P2P. And it's almost useless for law rune use.)
