It's because when it got released most ppl had like lvl 70 combat. Also how do you get confused in that tunnel? It is goes in a straight line :/

 

People doing the quest first time find it confusing - you might not seeing as you have 136, and you've doubtless trained in the dungeon before.

Eh? All I had to do was click about three times and watch my guy get yelled at by chin trainers.

I mean seriously, it IS a straight line.

i thought mm was very easy with 1 def 1 pray, it was probs alot harder when it first came out

 

dream mentor was one of the easyest quests i have done. blood burst first form used 3 sharks. safe spotted 2 and 3 took no damage and owned 4

 

So a fight was easy when you did it not as it was intended? Well imagine that!

I don't remember Dream Mentor being that difficult at all. I remember some difficult quests, bit I can't really think of them off the top of my head. I think I remember getting destroy by that spirit in "Haunted Mine" when I was a fairly high level...

Monkey madness took me like 8 hours lol. I felt very accomplished when I finally beat the demon. I guess that any master quest done at a low level would be difficult, but I think that it was a pretty good, enjoyable quest to do.

they didnt stop you from maging or ranging so yeh

Theres no map in the dungeon, so if you've never been in it, its quite natural to get confused ?

Thanks for all the posts everyone, when it was first released I imagine it was a beast of a quest.

It wasn't easy, it just wasn't as hard as I had built it up to be, in my mind, I guess.

Monkey Madness is more legitimately dangerous than most quests, and I'd still consider it one of the top 5. In most other quests, if you mess up, you just have to do something again or just get back to your gravestone. In MM, it's nigh on impossible to get back if you die in the middle of the town. For that reason, I'd consider MM a harder quest than Nomad's Requiem.

I remember dying during the endfight at MM. Because I tried melee first.

 

I was at that point in time at ardougne and a high level player i never met before gave me some sharks for the endfight. I had never even had any sharks before. I guess he wanted to help me after hearing I died the first time.

 

The second time I ranged him of course.

 

And there were no gravestones back then I think. When you died you died. And other people picked up your stuff or it was lost if you couldn't get back in time.

 

The quest that really made me lose my mind was underground pass. I did it with quite a low agility level and it just isn't that nice to do without the help of guides, with very low essential skills.

 

And as was said before in this thread, 43 prayer used to be quite something. Also a combat level of 100 or even 90 was already great.

 

I did MM to get my hands on the best weapon in town for a noob like me: a D scimmie. I didn't get a whip till much much later.

Difficulty, like time, the tastes of different foods, and Lady GaGa, are relative. Different people will look at it different, and there's just so much luck can do.

 

If one unlucky thing happens to someone during a quest, that player will tend to remember that quest as "hard", since he or she will never get another chance to do that quest (unless another account is made, which rarely happens). Likewise, if a player gets really lucky during a quest, forgets nothing, gets an amazing guide, and hits like crazy during the boss, that quest will be remembered as easy.

 

Think of it this way, two players go to Bandos once 1 trip and 1 trip only. They both have the same setup, but the first player gets an unlucky string of hits and has to teleport out before the first kill is done. The second player, however, manages to kill Graar using just 3 sharks and gets Tassets on the very first kill.

 

Now if you were to ask those two players whether or not to go to Bandos GWD, who do you think would give you an unbiased answer?

when i did dream mentor i used a whip n sharks, nuthing fancy like barageing or godswords, dident even use super pots...

...i could of done that quest in full bronze jugeing by how easy it was.

 

the first boss fight died in no time, used about 5 sharks, the rest combined = about half of the first monster in damage delt to me.

 

how in runescape do people say this quest is hard??!!

yes i was 105cb at the time and someone trying the quest at 80cb or so would have a chalenge but nuthing unbetable.

Some people saying While Guthix Sleeps is one of the hardest quests? Are you kidding me? Your stats are boosted to like 200+++ in the end fight, it was so easy it's not even funny.

 

Mourning Ends (1 or 2? I don't remember, it's been a long time) is probably the hardest. There were many moments I wanted to ragequit, because of the fact it took me hours to get all those crystals in the right slots. while constantly being attacked and having to heal with guthans. I hope for my sanity there is not another quest like this ever again, it took me maybe 1-2 days of going back and forth, correcting the crystals in the right spots in that temple of light or whatever.

 

Nomad's Requiem I'd say would be another hardest quest, I personally haven't done it, because he scares the living daylights out of me. It seems too god-wars-dungeon-ey for me, in the boss-like aspect of it, I mean. I don't fancy getting hit for all my health -1 either. And since I cannot multi-task, I am bound to fail each and everytime Nomad does his rage-auto-kill attack. For that reason, it is the only grandmaster quest in my opinion that deserves its title. While Guthix Sleeps was a joke being classed as a grandmaster quest. It may have taken a long time to complete, but the final fight was a walk in the park, because you had level 200+ in your combat stats. How easy can it get?

 

Anyways Nomad's Requiem and Mourning Ends would be the top 2 hardest quests IMO.

Yes, I have max stats/gear/whatever... but there is just nothing that really challenges me in this game. Would love them to aim a quest that is actually difficult for someone like me - a level 699 boss might be hard for an average level 100... but not for high levels.

Jagex doesn't design quests for 5% of their playerbase

I couldve easily gotten maxed out combat.

 

But i refused to, im a skiller and a quester and i like a challenge.

 

 

Nomad was amazingly fun for me, because i didnt have HERPDERPDERP TURMOIL DERPDERPDERP EXTREMES. With the top of the line gear/lvls/and items do you expect a challenge.

 

If you want one why not kill Nomad with a rubber chicken

13m xp in cooking and woodcut is a lot easier than 13m in attack, strength,defence, ranged, prayer, magic, summoning, hitpoints, and possibly herblore if you count it.

I do wonder, is there anyone who solved the quest completely unassisted, well we'll say the built in hints system is allowed ?

I did it on the day of launch, without a guide. Took quite a few hours and I remember it being quite hard, but the final fight was as easy as anything.

Why not? There are tons of people who are maxed now. An update for them would give a group of players that is severely lacking in content an update, and give everyone else something to work for. They can't ignore the endgame forever.

Quests will always get easier with time. New ways of playing the game, new equipment, etc. will always make old challenges obsolete in due time. There was a time where Dragon Slayer was a beast of a quest when first released - I practically died on it at around 60 combat the first week; even level 70's and 80's were struggling. Now any decent 60+ combat player should dispatch Elvarg with little problem. New ways to play the game, simple as that.

 

My top 5 personal hardest quests, and when I did them:

 

1) Underground Pass (early 2003, RSC): One incredibly frustrating quest. Agility at the time was still very new, so a quest with a ~50 some odd requirement was tough enough, let alone the fact that anything below about 70 meant several hours to complete the last stage. Consider also RSC had no agility pots, less inventory space for food, etc., and Underground Pass took an amazing balance of high skill, luck, and inventory management to complete.

2) Summer's End (late 2009): One of very few quests I've died on. Not particularly dangerous (yes you will probably die but only the stupid lose anything of value doing so), or skill-requirement heavy, but the final fight sequence is intense.

3) WGS (early 2010): Died once to the elemental (stupid mistake), otherwise not very difficult to complete. WGS ranks high because of the prerequisites.

4) Legends Quest (late 2003, RSC): Similar reasons to Underground Pass: hefty requirements, lots of random items made inventory space a premium, etc. Not as much of a luckfest, and the demon fights weren't all that tough, so it ranks below UP for me.

5) ME2 (late 2009): Can't think of anything else to put here. Desert Treasure was easy, Monkey Madness wasn't too challenging, and I haven't touched Nomad yet. So ME2 goes here by default, I guess.

 

If I were to attempt UP or Legends now, I would surely have a much easier time than in 2003. I'm sure we'll be saying the same thing about Nomad in 2014 or so.

MM was HARD when it came out. I did it when d scimy was elite, red dhide was the norm, and everyone used bolt spells with chaos gauntlets to train. Oh, and I also did it when people picked flax for money. Seriously. I did it so i could bribe the gnome because I didn't know how to do the puzzle. 100k = a lot then

Its LONG, and i did it when people considered hunting to be like sailing, a skill that would NEVER exist.

 

Back when i did it (sometime in 05) seeing a lvl 100+ was still a semi rare sight, most members were below lvl 90 combat. Also getting 43 prayer was a lot harder back then. Like 2 people even knew about ectofunctus but even the ones who did could tell that it was a long process to get even 43 prayer.

 

 

So combine the low combat lvl of most runescape players, the hardness of getting 43 prayer, and the fact at this time only the top slayers/party hat owners had access to whips.

 

Monkey madness was probably one of the hardest quests released for its audience.

 

 

That demon at the end may be a joke now, but at the time for your average player he was a beast. (and dont get me started on the one from legends quest...)

 

 

 

 

Oh yea did i mention i was 60ish when i did it, and it took me 14 hours. Also there was no home port, if you forgot to bring tele runes and you were stuck in the jail, guess what you truly were stuck there.

I got stuck in the jail with no tele' runes and of course at the time, no home tele'. I had to bribe someone to bring me runes from outside the jail, which took ages. Talk about waiting for a bus!

 

And the tunnel.... that was scary. Run energy didn't last 1/4 that it does now and with no map to guide you through and rocks fallin' on me 'ead, i really thought I'd get stuck in there too.

 

The demon took me three attempts, until i found the place, you know, to range from.

 

Anyone ever rubbed that sigil since completing the quest? I gotta admit, I still won't dare to do it! :ohnoes:

When I did it, I managed to use fire blast and safe spot the whole thing. I thought it was supposed to range you or something. apparently not

Your stats suck so therefore people who do have good stats are [developmentally delayed]ed? Nice logic.

Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.
