xpx
Thanks for the great guide, I made a couple mil so far :D I only have 92 prayer, should I use leeches? If yes, all 3 att/str/def?If you can click fast enough to kite the dragons, piety is much better than the leeches. Otherwise, i'd suggest ranging before you get turmoil.kite? I would rather not range because I got a rapier specifically for frost dragons, and I would rather be getting melee xp since I already have 99 range.Kiting means hitting a monster and then running away from their melee distance, as you would do meleeing fight cave 360's. The problem is, without soul split, you can't heal enough so your trips will be much shorter if you bring food. One way to solve this could be to bring really high melee defense gear such as veracs helm and legs, torags body and DFS, and heal with EEE as much as you can, but that will certainly slow down the killing. It would be really helpful to get 95 prayer as soon as possible and then not worry about healing. First to 99 Farming on 27. September, 2005.First to 3766 Port Score on 20. Quyneax
You could also get used to banking a lot. Even with tort you can bring in 150 bones/hr at your stats. yondergod22
Well, even with normal armor, no bonus def from piety, and no EE or pots, I don't really have to use SS a lot, the shark drops keep me healed most of the time..So I'll try upping my def, and bringing extreme def pots (I have a bunch collecting dust in my bank anyways, and I don't need as many summon pots as you use so I'm not wasting invy space), and bring some extra food and see if I still need soul split. And 1 more question, I'm barely killing fast enough to need like 2 or 3 summoning pots per trip, and I find myself waiting for spawns sometimes, how do you get around this? My cannon is in the same spot as your pics. Thanks for the help. Edit: It didn't work, the lack of space in my invy made it hard to pick up drops, and I still had to use SS sometimes. I need an EEE, I'll just use leeches for now.
Obtaurian
Getting rigour seems like much less of a hassle than that amulet. You work a few extra hours to increase your overall effectiveness while the amulet just makes you use prayer potions faster all the time. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off. My_Eggs
Using neitiznot helm, bandos chestplate, veracs skirt, SW cape, rune defender, d boots, zerker ring, and chaotic rapier, I don't need food at all. I just take a sip of my overload, and immediately hit my EEE spec, then I don't need any more healing after that. I don't have soulsplit and I don't kite the dragons either. I always bring one rocktail in my inventory for emergency healing situtations, but it's always still sitting there at the end of my trip (5 overload trips). 99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving. I haven't personally used EE/EEE spec there(as i don't have either) but it can work wonders, unless you are shooting for the max kill rate in which case claws are better. With overloads, you can replace the rocktail with a brew or two to have more emergency healing from that one spot. First to 99 Farming on 27. September, 2005.First to 3766 Port Score on 20. Angelic
Is picking up the Rune Arrows they drop worth it? I've killed around 2.3k Dragons and have 2.1k Rune Arrows (390k) and 13 Rune Longs (247k). Averaging 160 Kills p/hour at the moment picking them up, no extremes/overloads, 96 Atk, 95 Str, 71 Pray, using tanking equipment, Dharoks Chest, V Skirt, DFS, Glory, SW cape, Neit, Dboots, Barrows and Lumby Ring (4)(Don't ask). Also...any ideas on when the Bones will stop dropping in price? Wanting to wait till I have 10k to sell, but if they drop too low I can lose a lot of profit.. Quyneax
If you are meleeing the arrows will take no inventory space, but they are worth very little, so don't go out of your way to pick them up. And I'd sell my bones now, as I don't think bones will pick up again too soon. Neltak
I've been trying these out a little and just have a few questions if you don't mind answering. 1. Using welfare range gear (karils, archer helm, glory (lol), no archer ring), extremes, eagle eye, cannon and yak I'm getting about 150-160 kills/h is this reasonable? (This was with no summoning pots b/c I didn't realize they restored the spec, so I had a few breaks/slow times to find a safe-spot and put some in the yak instead of keeping killing. Probably lost me 3-9 kills) 2. I found I got the fastest kills when I relied heavily on the cannon and lured, picked up bones, and simply repeated that process hardly getting in an actual range attack. Is that a good method and if so should I be looking at using normal range pots or no range pots at all? Or should I do less luring and range attack more? 3. Are the better range gear (void or arma) worth it for the bonuses over karil's? And (silly question but I'll ask) if I plan on doing this for a little bit longer should I get other range boosting items (ammy/ring)? Also should I start saving to buy the range prayer and chaotic bow so they can be used there? 4. Two yaks couldn't last the supplies I had, should I try for three yaks and attempt to find a set-up of pots that would work for it or just stick with two? If its needed to know to help answer any of those questions, I've 96 range, 99 def, 81 prayer, access to ext range, can get ext prayers if they'd help a lot, and access to yaks. Thanks for the help. :-)
Quyneax
Void is entirely worth it. Karil's is not, black hide is better as it doesn't degrade. Idk about kills/hr but it sounds good enough. Luring is more important with ranging as your primary weapon is weaker than with melee, but you still want pots. The amulet of ranging is a bit questionable as you also lose 5 prayer. Use a fury or a ranging ammy depending on your pray bonus, around 20 is plenty. Archer's ring is quite worth it. Rigour is good, but ccbow isn't worth it really. In short, the setup: elite void range with soul wars cape, ranging ammy, ranger's boots, archer's (i) and handcannon OR elite void range deflector with acp, accumulator, archer's (i), ranger's boots, and rune crossbow with rune bolts. fatcav
Hey, i've looked through the replies and havent seen anybody in a situation the same as mine so i'll see what you think :). I have maxed melle, with the exception of 95 defence, 72 prayer. So no SS/Turm, however i will have a Yak. Just wondering whether or not you would reccomend me to use Ranged/melle in order to obtain the maximum kills i can. I was swaying towards range due to it being less attention intensive, less hasstle and it also negates the need for healing. But your opinion would be useful, thanks. xpx
I would recommend range aswell, as it's less clicking and melee really isn't worth it before turmoil. The problem with some people not reaching the kill rates i've stated in the guide is that the rates have been gotten with fast internet connection and high attention rates, not to mention being very experienced at killing. None the less, 99 range should never get less than 180 kills with rcbow+runite bolts. Karil's bow>rune bolts Btw xpx, would it be worth it to take dclaws and a melee helm for specs or something?I've done that a couple of times but it doesn't help as much as it does with melee(~3 more kills instead of ~6 more kills in an hour), but if you want to reach the absolute max rates, and are using overloads, it's a nice addition. Other possibilities are to use dark bow, msb or zamorak bow specs. Yet again, use the specs on hard to lure dragons to KO them quickly. Oh, and karils bow really isn't worth it because of the price and short range, rune arrows and runite bolts are both better. Quyneax, nice job on the answers  First to 99 Farming on 27. You could still kill them easily and would likely be worth it for you to do so if you need money, though obviously with higher combat stats and access to extremes / ovlds / turmoil you would be making more money per hourYep, without yak/turmoil you'll need food and bank pretty often but they'll still be 1.5-2m/hr or so.
