LinkOlaran
Just popping in quickly to say that I've built my minecart system all the way to my 0,0 coord, and I've started construction on the same mob tower Peronix's tower is based off of. I had to store my minecarts once I got here, though, since the animals keep freaking hijacking them >_> Only slight problem is my 0,0 coord is mostly in the water, but I have a crapton of gravel, so I'll use that and fill in the area. Oh, and Aeon, that video was amusing. I liked the background music to it :P almost completely positive it's a remix of Link to the Past's dark world overworld theme. Should be interesting to see if I have enough supplies to actually build this monstrosity of a mob trap, though. I know I don't have enough glass, only a stack and a third or so. Gonna need to dig up a beach or something.
Shiny
I have over 30 minecarts which my systems has generated. I love glitches.
Dax
You've gotta be joking. The second I try to go back to the bottom, I fall halfway down the shaft and die...then get spawned the other side of the map. <_<At the bottom of my staircase is water 2 blocks deep. When I want to get to the bottom I drop into it. That is awesome and helps heaps. Thanks. #KERR2016/17/18/19/20/21. #rpgformod
Aeon_
I've swear I have the worst luck ever in this game. Tried to get back up to my base after finding some diamonds, and a creeper comes along and kills me, which must have caved in the gravel because now i've lost my 3 diamonds, 2 iron picks, 14 iron ore and 4 ingots, a [bleep]load of blocks and my torches. <_< Ah well. Finding quite a lot of iron atm. Many believe that the 1980 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens was a catostrophic geological event, in reality it was the day that Jimi Hendrix returned to Earth from the next world and actually stood up next to a mountain and chopped it down with the edge of his hand.-Random Youtuber
dragon246665
Wow, I found three mob spawns within a very close distance to each other, I wonder if I could just make like a combined trap for all three of them? Also, thank whoever started this thread because Minecraft is the awesomest thing ever.
Aeon_
Rage. Fell off a cliff (yeah yeah) and all my items disappeared. <_< This time including 32 rails, minecart, and a load of other stuff. D: Many believe that the 1980 eruption of Mt. dragon246665
Okay I am severely scared right now, I was mining when suddenly I found a huge pit, like at least 30 squares down, so I built some makeshift stairs to get down and when I do, the whole thing is covered in creepers! I mean there were like at least 5 of them, and there were some zombies too! :ohnoes:
LinkOlaran
I severely underestimated the sheer amount of mining required for this mob tower -.- According to the mining guide on the Minecraft forums (http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=28299), sea level is at block 63 (bottommost bedrock is block 0). So, considering this mob tower is 25x25, that means I'll have to dig out a 25x25x63 cube for the tower (or 23x23 if you don't mind the wall of the tower not being uniform). That means I need to move 33,327 blocks for this tower, assuming no caves, and I think I saw one on the edge >.< I think I'm about halfway down now (the fact my 0,0 coord was mostly over water helped a bit, took out a fair sized chunk of work, but I also had to take time to remove the water via filling it up with gravel...) Anyway, it's going well, although I've gone through... 6-8 diamond picks so far. Have over 11,000 cobblestone stored in chests, probably closer to 12,000 now. Getting a good amount of iron/coal, though. Plus pork/hides from the cows/pigs that keep falling into the pit (which always makes me lol when I see it, since it's so random). I think an animal hijacked my main cart, though. I have two passenger carts at the top of the pit (one on the booster track, one on main track), and the one on the main track is gone. Dunno if I purposely put it in a chest (I do have one there, but I don't remember if it's the same one). Either way, I wouldn't be surprised if a pig took a joy ride back to my island station with my minecart. Back to mining I go, I suppose. And before someone recommends tnt, I had 19 blocks when I started, I used that up pretty fast >.< thought about luring creepers into the pit and purposely blowing them up to speed up mining, but they don't spawn fast enough to bother with. If I had a way of luring them into the pit without them falling and dying, maybe... but having them spawn at the bottom don't work at all :P Once I get down to diamond level (blocks 10-16 from the bottom, I think...) I'll do a branch mine out and try to pick up as many as possible. I think my diamond stockpile is going to dry up before I hit that layer, though. Gonna have to switch to iron, which sucks, but at least I have plenty of that to use.
Dupin
I'm planning on starting a mob tower, although there doesn't seem to be any easy way to find the (0,0) coordinate, so I'll just make it in a flat area. For any wondering, I'm planning on using this design. It should take me a while, but I think I've got the cobblestone for it. I found a snow world. It crashed, now it glitches every time I start it. I hope Notch releases a bug fix with this next update (which, coincidentally, will allow me to find snow on my main world), because the bugs have been driving me crazy. My main world keeps crashing, and loading me with the same items, but missing all the stuff I did and put in a box.
Peronix
Here's that link to the mod thread where elemental arrows were: http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=47148 He's updated it with a sign tags mod, which allows you to enter [x] [y] and [z] into signs to see the world position of the sign. Should help you find the 0 chunk. FYI: the x and z coords correspond to horizontal location for... some reason. Y corresponds to vertical position. To find the 0 chunk you're looking for coord 0,0 to 15,15 (x,z). Also that mod has a [time] tag, which will turn the sign into a running clock showing you the current game time. Peronix
So it is possible to rune this on Ubuntu? If it is I'll probably be getting it within the week. Well it's java based, so as long as you have java you should be able to run it. You can even run it in your browser on the website, or download the executable jar file from the download page (under linux/other).
LinkOlaran
Hit the top of the diamond layer on my pit, although I just about fell into a cave system right after that. Complete with lava, which I just finished bucketing out and storing it in a cave near the pit. Gonna dig the rest of the way down and hunt for diamonds after that. Also, downloaded a save file with the completed tower in it, to examine the trap room and see how well it works. I can say that I can see 11.5k items/hr with this trap is possible, I had several hundred items in my invy within a few minutes, and I was running back and forth between the trap room to watch it working, and the collection canal (which slowed it down, probably). Gonna be a pain actually building it, though... Also, I'm starting to hate every single animal near the pit now. I'm using a water elevator to get in and out of the pit, and those damned animals keep either breaking my boat, or knocking it off the top so I have to swim down the waterfall. I'm killing every animal on sight now because of this >.>
Maze
We were in German class, and the teacher was teaching about games/sports. My friend piped up and said, "Ich spiele Minecraft gern" (means "I like to play Minecraft"). The teacher was like, "What is that?" He responded with, "Autism simulator". LinkOlaran
Well, I learned the hard way that (at least I think) water elevators using boats to go up/down need to be enclosed. And not have outcropping platforms up where you're going. *gets into boat, goes up waterfall* *hits outcropping platform at the top, boat breaks* *falls to death with diamond pick and 20 buckets, most full of lava* Recovered everything, at least >_> almost lost a bucket, but that just went flying to the other side of the pit. Already put in a ladder system (which is what I had before, at which point a friend mentioned using the boat idea, which I just had to try... *cough*) Anyway, back to digging, once I take out more frustration on passing cart-hijacking animals. Zilla
Notch released a picture of Biomes on twitter. Apparently, Grass/Leave color will change in Biomes. Also the desert Biome is messed up at the moment, often giant sand mountains.
Peronix
Awesome. Notch better release desert on the 31st though. I'm running out of beaches to raid for TNT. A couple of monstrous dunes down and I should be set for life.
Aeon_
I really need to make a mob farming device, but I don't have the time nor resources for it. :( Many believe that the 1980 eruption of Mt. Maze
Broke down and bought this yesterday. Found a good coal area, mined some coal and stone. Now, I have a simple house made with stone with a nice wooden door. I hide in it at night. And when do you start start getting into the "hell" areas of the game and some of the more interesting areas?
Gandorf61
And when do you start start getting into the "hell" areas of the game and some of the more interesting areas? "Hell" is due to be released by Notch on Halloween. Right now you can find caves and other cool places by just exploring and digging. The biomes being released on Halloween should make things even more interesting as well; definitely an update to look forward to. Dupin
I'm sort of disappointed about the biomes, as I've loaded so much of my map now that it will be a long journey to find another biome, since he doesn't change any of the ones you've already explored. At least the portals will make long journeys easier. Oh, and I laid out a ton of torches on the ground, so that they'll turn into lanterns after the update, and hopefully I can pick them up and not have to worry about making lanterns. My map again, see the mass of yellow? They're torches. I'm prepared. Also, started making a tower on my spawn point, plan to run a track down the side, maybe circling it if I get bothered, then connect it with the rest of my tracks. Said project will take like 100 times the iron I have now, which may become impossible, I never see iron. >_< #KERR2016/17/18/19/20/21. #rpgformod
Aeon_
Can you do a minecart down a hill? As in put 1 track on one block, then a block in front and below it.
