Omar
I'll just give it a shot after Twilight of the Idols, and if it smells too strongly of bongwater and patchouli I only spent 1.30$ on it. Crocefisso
I'm interested in reading that too. What program are you in?Also, if I'm getting this correctly, the first chapter is just a bunch of miscellaneous aphorisms? I might add that, if I remember correctly, there are two 'parts' to each aphorism, hence the 'Maxim' and 'Arrow' that leads on from each maxim. Some of the funnier aphorisms are indicative of some absolutely hilarious things to come later on in the book. I won't ruin it, but the written style in general makes it a very pleasant, easy and often funny read. Anyone else have a Goodreads account? Yes, but I've not used it a great deal. I got mine 4 days after it was released where I am, and that was in November. Also, I really need to finish A Feast for Crows. Then if I don't get A Dance with Dragons, into the Hunger Games I venture. http://forum.tip.it/topic/325514-bonez899s-journey-to-an-eventual-max/ My blog of progress on Runescape. Jonanananas
Oh I live in Canada but I waited for the french version, which came out after the English one obviously. ;) Your translators are slow....The german version has been out for a while already. Also, bit surprised you are waiting for the french version? I always go for the english ones if I can, translation just takes out some quality of the book, it's unavoidable...and I'd assume your english is good enough to be able to comfortably read it in english? Gradeskip
My english sure is good enough but french is my main language, so I always prefere reading in french, it is also a much richer language than english by the way. ;)

Jonanananas
Can I get some book recommendations? I've just read His Dark Materials and Hunger Games so I'm looking for books similar to that. I like dystopian novels :) Hmm, I could recommend "the name of the wind" by patrick rothfuss(first book in a trilogy, third one is not published yet) or "the war of the flowers" by tad williams. If you're looking for dystopian novels, there are quite a bunch, though not really of the same style as e.g. the hunger games. There's of course the classics like 1984, Brave new world, etc; Stephen King has also written a few if you're into horror, e.g. the long walk or the running man, which also share the concept of a contest to the death with the hunger games. I like dystopian novels :)I don't think I have ever seen anyone refer to His Dark Materials by that name before. Everyone around here just calls them the Golden Compass series. Good books though. If you want a dystopia, I just strait up recommend Margaret Atwood, I think she's written mostly dystopia novels (or at least books that aren't happy in general). In particular I would recommend Oryx and Crake.

I like dystopian novels :)Divergent - very dystopian, amazing book, has kind of a caste/faction system. This book is seriously amazing. I read it in one sitting. Basically the factions are divided according to what people think is the cause of war. So there's one for people who believe it's selfishness and everyone in that faction has to be extremely selfless. There's one who think it's cowardliness so everyone is really brave and daring, etc. When you're 16 you have to choose a faction. The main character Beatrice has to choose her faction -- does she stay with her family's faction or choose one that actually suits her and almost never see her family again? The Selection - commonly described as a mix between The Hunger Games and The Bachelor. There's a very strict caste system and 35 girls from different castes compete to become the prince's wife. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog

Star.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I have written a list and plan to power through them :D I've read a few classics like 1984 and a couple of Margeret Atwood's books. Kirschen
The Book of Useless Information by Noel Botham and the The Useless Information Society is what I am reading right now. Couldn't get into the fiction books people raved about, so I went to trivia books that I enjoy. Am not comforted how it says there is average of 50,000 spiders per acre in green areas, but that is likely just really insignificant ones. Randox
I can't read on a computer screen. Even for papers, when I proofread my work (which is like 5-10 pages double normally), I just print it off. I miss more on computers, and I can't read (one long thing) for extended periods on a computer. Messes with my concentration.
Star.
I agree. It's very easy to get distracted and look at cat videos. I get headaches too if I stare long but I go through books like toilet paper and its annoying to go to my town's library everyday. ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢
