February 4, 201115 yr Well. I know that in nearly every case, being hacked is really the fault of the victim. By that I mean they make the mistake of trusting a friend with their password (or their e-mail), their recoveries are not secure, their password is a dictionary word/personal information, they don't read up on common scams and fall for an e-mail scam (as an example), they don't protect against viruses/keyloggers, etc. So there are definitely ways in which you can defend yourself against hackers and if you take all those precautions, there is no reason that your account should be compromised. And if you fail to take those precautions, it is certainly your fault for not being more proactive about your account's security. And if I got hacked, I definitely would think, "Well that was stupid of me." Dunno if you'd call that "rich" but if it were hacked and dropped/traded it'd be a pain in the arse but meh. I've never ever botted or used 3rd party software, and as lala said: I'm not an idiot :P Even if someone managed to get on to my account, I always bank all my items before logging off, so they couldn't do much.. February 4, 201115 yr I've played for... 9 years now, and I've never been hacked. I've never had a bank pin, and my password is at least 7 years old right now. I agree with tripsis, normally it's the hacked persons fault for using an insecure password, reusing the password, downloading things without scanning them, or using bots. ~M

February 4, 201115 yr Nope, I think I've taken every reasonable precaution. Bank PIN, a reasonably unique password, recoveries, email, don't play on unsecured networks, no 3rd party software. I've never been hacked in my life, I'm an advocate that getting hacked is almost always because of a bad move on the player's part, instead of a hacker's skill. ~ W ~
February 4, 201115 yr Like most people said, most people who get hacked did something stupid resulting in it. I'm not particularly scared of being hacked. Although, I will admit to doing a few unsafe things in the past....even so, I don't think anyone could know my password short of virus/keylogger getting on my computer, which I can't see happening. February 4, 201115 yr Yes, I am afraid, but that's why I have my anti-virus software and all of those goodies. I have never been hacked before because I'm smart with my passwords, security questions, etc. Even though I am afraid, it doesn't mean that I'm not confident that I'm secure.

February 6, 201115 yr I have nearly 20m stuff. I don't consider myself rich, and I'm not worried. I know enough about computer security (and apply that knowledge) to make sure that its unlikely I'll get keylogged or phished. My recovery questions can't be answered by anyone other than me, and my password can't be easily guessed or brute forced. Although I don't think I'm rich, I am a hacker target, mostly because of my name. I guess if an account trader got ahold of my account, they could probably make a decent amount of cash from it - But there's no way i'm letting that happen :P
February 6, 201115 yr id consider myself rich, santa and 100m cash, but im pretty suire i wont get hacked. i dont chat to many people on rs, and definately dont download stuff they tell me to. ive played for 7/8 years and have only been hacked once. and that was me giving someone my pass to get me a fire cape lol.
February 9, 201115 yr I have around 80 mil at the moment, so not rich, but I am still not worried about getting hacked. My password isn't easily guessable, and because of my name change people wouldn't know my past username anyway.
