did I miss a mass ban?

During the last few weeks, there have been a lot of bots (I think) at the willow trees in Draynor, and it was very difficult to compete with them. However, the number of them seems to have gone down a lot in the last few days.

So did I miss a mass ban or something? :-)

I checked the RuneScape website but could find no mention of any such action.

Yeah, the bots seem to be thriving once again in the LRC after a small dip in frequency last week.

Do Jagex announce mass banns? I'm pretty sure they do it quietly so that people don't think the only time they ban is when they announce.

In any case, the last mass ban I can remember was for people abusing an enchant dragonstone bolt tips glitch. That was really just to highlight the jagex policy on bug abuse.

I'm not an efficienado.

They do it quietly to hide the fact that they don't really give a flying [bleep].

After an update, [removed] and [removed] clients both need to be updated to match any new things that have entered the game.

This only takes a few hours however, you must've been woodcutting at the right time.

Why would you be friends with a botter? Gross.

On either note, I don't think Jagex even really bans bots anymore. As long as they pay their monthly fees they don't seem to care like they used to. If they did they could take action against the sites ran by the creaters couldnt they?

by "his friend" he means himself.

i'm admiring that unranked WC there bro

That's probably just due to the excess of woodcutting bots outranking him. His adventurer's log shows he has level 62 woodcutting.

Edit: Oops, I was too slow :P.

So if your IRL friend of 10 years bots on RS you aren't going to be his friend anymore? Nice logic sir.

Jagex doesn't ban bots anymore. Last time they tried, 2007 and the dark ages of RuneScape happened. (Because all those botters were resorting to credit card fraud to keep going, or something, so the credit card companies threatened to take action directly against Jagex. Now Jagex lets bots exist, so bots no longer need credit card fraud to sustain themselves - everyone is happy.) Though it would make more sense for them to announce mass bans and ban like 200 accounts each time, to make it seem like they care. Right now it is obvious they don't, or are bluffing about their detection abilities at the least.

They just moved on from willows to yews/mages

The bots just have to be re-scripted for the new log in screen and startup menu

No but ok.

Apparently a lot of people are botting PC. Ew.
It's such a fun minigame
