TastySnaxx
I have 97 cooking, and I'm going for 99, but I heard that cooking capes are "stupid, nooby, gay, not worth it, cheating, too easy" It's very discouraging for me, because I was looking foward to 99 cooking and the skillcape, but I'm afraid players will think that by wearing the cape I'm being arrogant, but I really want to wear the cape because I really like it! I got 99 for these reasons: First 99SkillcapeUseful to my clanContributes to total levelMore respect Should I get 99 cook?

My_Eggs
Doesn't matter what others think. If they don't like it, who cares? You certainly shouldn't. 99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving. Jagex'd out of my untrimmed hp cape on 6/14/2011.
BabyPunchers
If you do it because you enjoy it=It's okay. Doing it for cape=Not good. Honestly, it's probably one of the easiest capes. And completely honestly, imo, I usually think that those wearing a cooking cape are noobs trying to get a false sense of accomplishment. Sorry, thats just my opinion. If you really enjoy the skill, then [bleep] what I think and everyone else. Thanks to all those who have messaged me concerning a revamp of my Range-Slayer guide. transcript80
I got 99 for these reasons: First 99 - nice, go for itSkillcape - there are better capes than skill capesUseful to my clan - nice, go for itContributes to total level - nice, go for it, but +2 in a total of what? 1800+?More respect - why would you want respect from a goup of people you dont even know? Should I get 99 cook? All in all: get it if you want it. Enjoy, have fun and don't go out to get "respect" in a video game from people you don't know. WiFi
If you're 97 why not? It's not like you have to wear the cape all the time.. The skill was put there in intention of you getting 99. [bleep] the haters.
HisDorkyNinja
Forget what everyone thinks. I got mine 99, and it's my first and only 99. I may also have 4 other skills that are in the 90's but it doesn't matter. brad1431
get it cause you want it, but to think it gets your more respect or is some kind of status symbol is just idiotic. Anyone who gives you respect for a cape you wear in a kids game is not a person who's respect you need.
Andy
Just to note that if you ever plan to max out and use your own effigies, it would be better to have 97 cooking than 99. You can use your cooking/firemaking stages on cooking, or get daily assists for the last ~2m exp. I'd personally stay at 97 and get the last 2m exp by assists (assuming you have no other 91+ assistables.)

If you get another 99, however, you should get 99 Cooking to trim the cape, in my opinion.

Quyneax
This isn't a question we can properly answer, though we can say what we would do or what we would think if you did x or y. If you want to max total as fast as possible, getting 99 cooking right now is not the way to go. On the other hand it's not a major difference, and you are probably not thinking of max total just yet.
