Sylpheed
I really do hate when they nerf things within 3 days of it's release. In other words, I hate when people [bleep] enough that jagex caves in and changes it. Nerf? All they're doing is dropping the slash bonus I thought? Correct. In turn they're increasing the duration time of the armour by 3-4 times. I really don't see how this makes it useless. As usual, people just like to over-exaggerate and rage at every little thing. And this sentence could be said about the people complaining about the stats "As usual, people just like to over-exaggerate and rage at every little thing." But I guess since you sound like you're for this change in stats that doesn't really matter.

I'm not for or against the change, if anything I'm largely indifferent to whatever changes they decide to make. I said people over-exaggerate because it's not even a real nerf. The only stat being reduced is the slash defence, and in return for that reduction the armour lasts longer. Sounds like a fair compromise to me. Tim
But... but... it isn't economical, people are just using cool new gear because it's... cool new gear. Jagex logic again >.<.Yup. Popoto.~<

I'm completely against having mage armor that has the equivalent of pernix + more mage defense bonus (because isn't mage=mage in the combat triangle...?). Having high mage defense is stupid. However since mage > melee they should leave the melee defense stats of it and set the mage defense = to the attack. Lowering the melee defense does not "solve" the combat triangle crisis. The gear should have:High defense bonus (which is dumb their nerfing that)Low range bonus (which it does)EQUAL mage defense (If it has 20 mage attack, have 20 mage defense. Not 120..) But going back on the topic of reducing its slash, I still think that's kinda of stupid when mage > melee, but oh well.

spooferfish
I was killing the low level rats, in search of fungal flakes, and decided to kill a few of the mage things. I hit a 35, that had an orange hit splat. I was using a whip vine, ddef, and have 99 strength. Mage them indeed! I was trying to get a pic, but haven't seen it again. I've hit a few 34s that were normal colored though... Weird.
chenw
Facts about the Polypore Staff: 1. Takes 3000 spores and 15000 Fire runes to charge a stick to fully charged Staff. Takes 80 farming, assistable, runes cannot be substituted, and gives no farming XP.2. At level 99 magic, no other magic damage boosting gear or effects, max hit is around mid 300's3. Spores sells for half as much as Death runes at the moment, yet does nearly twice the damage.4. Finally a use for the huge stockpiles of fire runes.5. Noobzy
So what would be the possibilities for pvm with the new gear? The staff, I can see it's uses, maybe not against ice wyrms (no fire spell?) but how about the armour? "He really calls himself Noobz?" The staff, I can see it's uses, maybe not against ice wyrms (no fire spell?) but how about the armour? At the moment it degrades way too fast to be worth using outside of bossing or duelling/pvp. The changes next week will make it more economical to use.

Siobhana
I tested my polypore staff at icewyrm. For me who does not have a firecape (I know, I know....) it is perhaps slightly less effective than fire surges. However I personally find that A: No need to change spellbook from linar ( <3: ) and B: The cost being around half, possibly even lower per spell definately makes up for that. Ty Jeppoz for making it. Thx to the Pup for finding it after it got lost :D And thx to Kill_Life and Turtle for the ava. Ambler
Bought poncho to test at corp: Half soloed it using 1/3 of jmy brews but died due to lag and core, considering I dont have soul split or turmoil, and only did about 10 successful darklight specs, worked suprisingly well!
