I really hope the slash defence cut isn't that drastically. I thought the whole point of that was to have whips and godswords bounce off your armour.

If the slash defence goes down to the same rating as the stab defence then this armour is pretty much scuttled.

 

Won't say no to 10 hour degrade time, though.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

"Gee, we didn't expect people to use our special new magic armor in a special new location where people are forced to use magic!" Of course, I guess they expected the degrade rate to be higher than the drops themselves...but then that would have made it pointless for pvp trips.

 

Honestly, this is exactly what magic armor needed...a relatively accessible set of armor that provided GOOD bonuses...compared to the other two combat types, they were in need of this for the longest time. Ahrims has only recently (given the whole timeline since it has existed) been affordable, and the rest of the sets up to that point are pretty bad compared to it, excluding grifolic armor, which has only come out now.

 

Seriously, who are they talking to when they need advice on armor...

What logic was it that said mage armor should outclass ranged armor in magic defense or that it should have no melee attack penalties?

Most of this update was bullshit honestly. Even the 2nd set beats Black D'hide...

 

I don't get how they can drivel on about how they're going to completely rework the combat system to be closer to the triangle and then release stupid shit like this.

The staff wasn't bad. It's like a step further in making Magic decent for PvM. But just about every piece of armor overrides whatever good the staff did.

Instead of tweaking the armor because of the lack of flake drops..

Considering the slash defense bonus rivals torva, I think I would be okay with this adjustment, as long as it's still workable as melee protection like melee armor. People have been too used to rushing mages with dhide, so I think they really need to get some perspective here.

 

Of course, this means that rangers need to be able to survive long enough to kill mages, so I guess that's next on the list?

Why not have mage armour with good melee defence, and negative melee offence. 0.0

Even though I disagree with the stats of the armour (should have negative melees) I'm glad they're doing something about the degrade rate, should atleast make it useable though still fairy costly.

Just hope they don't overdo the decreased slash defence, that'd be kinda pointless.

Thought I'd make a set as I have flakes coming out of my ears right now. It does look pretty sweet but not much point using it until the changes next week.

The set looks pretty sweet. I especially like how the angle of your head makes it look like your eyes have no pupils. It's like they're glowing with some arcane mystical power. :thumbup:

This was new, drastic, game changing... awesome.

Screw the combat triangle, it's stupid and never balanced anyway.

 

I'd rather have something awesome and worth working 10hrs on content to get 6 hours of something special than something that takes one hour to get and adds zip, zelch, ZERO to the game.

I really do hate when they nerf things within 3 days of it's release. In other words, I hate when people [bleep] enough that jagex caves in and changes it.
