You have to consider though vote rates will not be steady, in fact they even now are falling hour upon hour, give it 48-72 hours and they will probably be coming in quite slowly.

 

Where is this ridiculous assumption coming from (generally, everywhere, not specifically in this thread) that some EoC players will come back because of this? Obviously some will, but the idea that simply because people who quit the game over EoC would for some reason want to play the retrograde 2007 version of RS seems silly to me. Not liking EoC does not mean you want to play RS 2007, it simply means you don't want to play EoC.

Quitting because of Eoc and 07scape are very different entities with a whole 5 years of content difference.

Many who quit to private servers prefer them due to cheats.

Many who quit did so due to lack of faith in Jagex, why would they come back?

Many won't quit a free private server for a paid for 07scape.

etc.

 

Thats not to say none would come back, just the assumption that all of them or even the majority of them will is rather a stretch.

They might have gone to private servers for pre-EoC, but not for RS2007. Do not conflate the two. In case you didn't notice, Pre-EoC and RS2007 have a 5-6 year period. Not liking EoC does NOT mean that you want to give up all the modern conveniences of RS (GE, "skill-x", a host of other things) to play some crappy underdeveloped (in comparison) version of RS. There's obviously some EoC quitters that do want to play RS2007, but they are by no means a majority.

The number of players on era-specific private servers without boosted XP rates and other shortcuts shows how many players actually want "retro" servers.

You have to remember 2007 scape isnt the same game as 2012 scape which isn't the same game as EoC. Just because people don't like EoC does not mean they'll like 07scape, it is a VERY different game to modern rs in many respects.

Boosted Xp rates and generally lots of free XP are very recent developments. Who's to say that these people don't want RS2010 instead? Not liking aspects of modern RS does not mean that people want to put up with the drudgery of RS2007.

I have to agree, I'm worried the majority of the votes is going to come from people who just don't want the EoC. It would be and interesting statistic to see where the data trends for age of accounts currently playing.
