I must be getting blind, I don't see an effigy on that screen. :s

Effigy in the sense of a figure of a person, they're playing with the RS meaning and dictionary meanings.

Why can't the Big Bang be done by the hand of God?

It could have, but it is next to impossible because it also could have been caused by the flying spaghetti monster, or one of the other infinite number of deity possibilities.

About the river: have a look at this media picture:

screenshots_13.jpg

In the distance, you can still see something that could be a house or a wall.

But that's an old picture, hence the old Karils armour he's wearing, people are talking like the river has to fit into the existing area it doesn't have to fit in with what already exists as that could change too.

But things DO have to fit in with what is there now to an extent; admittedly things can shuffle a bit but not to a HUUUUGGGE extreme.

Burthorpe has to be by death plateau and the troll lands (and we can see from a media section picture the castle is still in the same place next to the new plateau entrance)

Taverly has to be south of Burthorpe with Taverly dungeon entrance and at the foot of white wolf mountain.

They need to be in those locations for many quests/lore/spacial things to make sense.

Also armour is not a perfect measure of the pictures, what graphics are or are not live in the engine they use at the time of screen shots don't always match update ordering; there's often been old armours near new graphics when the armours got made over before the places. And that wall/house in the background certainly doesn't look like the current wall.

Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills ::  Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA Rewards

Dragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue

What are you talking about, I'm not completely stupid, I never thought they'd stick Burthorp in Seers, I just mean people seem to be suggesting the river can't fit, when your looking at the old layout, I was just suggesting that the position of the buildings within the area of the rework can be shuffled as they like, the area itself has always had ample free space, I wasn't suggesting they could move the towns lol

It's quite possible that White Wolf Mountain could be getting a makeover as two of the suggested reworked quests take part on them, they could shrink the size of the mountin slightly even make it the source of this river we see.

As for the picture, it's been around a long time, I don't think it's of relation to the coming updates. I am pretty sure they didn't take a picture of someone in old barrows armour on a server running the latest Burthorp/Taverley & Bronze/ Iron armour update sitting just outside Falador. You just seem to be nitpicking on my post now.

At any rate EFG, I am interested in your comment. What century do you find helmets like that? I can certainly tell you that I've never seen a helmet like that portrayed anywhere in any medieval contemporary works or images, or at any re-enactment... PM me about it please, I'd be eager to discuss it with you :D

This

Rs version of it.

This isn't what I expected when I asked for more effigies ...

[/hide]

Has anyone else noticed the Slayer skill icon on that banner? I'm assuming that effigy is going to be used to teach new players about the skill in some way.

Given that Buthorpe is where Slayer (theoretically) begins (although, this assumes you are coming into slayer with combat < 20) this is no surprise to me. Nice pickup though, didn't even blink when I saw the flag.

Probably a complete rework of Burthorpe to turn it into a hub for beginning players. No idea why they'd pick it, though.

EDIT : Notice the clothesline in the picture below? Ta-da! Placement of the river is solved.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

Plus Guthan Horns are *up*ward where the skyrim helmet has horns that point *down*wards. And seriously, a helmet with horns is not that big intervention.

...Horned helms have been used in games many, many years before skyrim. Especially in viking/nordic themes.

Troll Warzone

Finally' date=' were closing the month with an overhaul of Burthorpe. This is designed to take newly-minted members through their new skills, but its worth taking a tour even if youre a veteran. There are massive graphical improvements; an awesomely cute baby troll pet who really is what he eats; improved versions of Death Plateau, Wolf Whistle and Druidic Ritual, which can be replayed even if youve completed the originals; and a new quest called Let Them Eat Pie where a particularly unpleasant war profiteer gets his just deserts...so to speak.[/quote']Methinks those are what those images are hinting at. :P

The iron helm was in most of the promotional material, including the E3 demonstration. I got a TF2 version of it when I preordered the game over the summer, and at that point it was already the most iconic thing about the game :twss:

Not that I mind, I like Skyrim.

The guy in the bottom right of the second picture looks photoshopped in for some reason. I think it's because the odd angle at which he's laying there.

That building site appears to be Taverley side of the river, what are the Druids building o.O

It doesn't look like a building sit at all to me.

Looks like 1 house partly in the fog, then a watermill right by the river; with a lift platform/hoist partially in the fog that would be used to taking grain to the top of the mill to be loaded for grinding; it is the 1 realistic making feature most rs are missing, an external (or sometimes internal) basic pulley lift to take the large and heavy grain supplies to the top where they are put in to be ground and make their way down again.

Amirite?
