I think Mod Jack mentioned wanting to add Orichalcum and Necronium with a mining and smithing rework, to give a smithable equivalent to the dragon and barrows tiers.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

Honestly another set of questions should be answered sometime soon:

 

Q: Does our experience after level 80 roll over into the "elite skill" or do we need to have flipped a switch prior to hitting level 80?

 

Q: Will these elite skills only receive xp from items broken down that are relative to that skill?

(probably and most likely a yes)

 

Basically, think of Inventor as a completely new skill that unlocks once you reach level 80 in those 3 skills. Since its a new skill, its exp is entirely unrelated to the exp in other skills. So, the exp doesn't roll over, but training regular Smithing won't get you exp in Inventor anyway, and training inventor probably won't get you regular smithing exp.

The idea of the elite skills is not they are an add-on or modification to an existing skill.

 

They are a skill in their own right. The difference is they are about combining other talents we already have to do new things and therefore you need a base level of knowledge in those feeder skills to begin.

 

For example Inventor is about taking various technologies we know from around the world - dwarven metal working, elf crystal, cave goblin electrics, gnome mechanics etc. - and working to combine them to make new things. To begin inventing you need a base level of knowledge in smithing and crafting so that you know how to work with these various materials. Plus a level of knowledge about divination to help use the energies to fuse the techs together and fuel their functions.

 

Once you have unlocked inventor it has its own xp scale and levels totally independent from smithing, crafting and divination. The only link after you've unlocked it is you will need smithed goods, crafted goods and divine energies as resources to use in inventor.

 

I think some of the other examples they gave in the stream perhaps make it clearer than inventor does.

For example Necromancy it would be an elite skill likely requiring prayer, magic and summoning to unlock.

Prayer because it is a skill that gives us some knowledge of bones/corpses and spiritual power.

Summoning because it gives us knowledge of bringing spirits from other realms to our side and binding them to our service,

Magic because we would need arcane knowledge to be able to re-build a body and hold it together.

What is always coming but never arrives? The construction rework.

 

I believe the current plan is next year yes, but I wouldn't put too much faith in the scheduling based on what has happened in the past. Maybe it will become a RuneLabs idea at some point and finally pushed through.

The last I heard to do with reworks as a whole was 'maybe one next year' without any specifics as to which one.

Beach Party:

 

Portable forges hotfixed

Choose which bones are crushed with bonecrusher (potentially next week)

x2 Abyss RC XP

Buyable item (~500k) that x3 RC XP but makes you a target to PvPers

- x2/x3 are just numbers, still need to balance (Pi wants to match runespan rates)

Strawpoll: Do you want Abyss RC XP buffed (Yes with PvP item)

 

 

Beta polls:

 

1.2s Barge bind

Removed Barge's cooldown shared with Surge/Escape (can now Surge Barge to close huge gaps)

Old batch of Beta updates are going to go live (eg No legacy SS cap)

Possible to get each other killed during Raids

There was a line of code that reduced legacy damage to Araxxor by 25% which will be removed

The red meteorite chunks will be used for raids (save them)

Ironman group bossing should include raids

The group bossing update will make it possible for Ironmen to get comp cape

 

 

Addy and Rune dragons:

 

Gravestones will appear outside World Gate for deaths in Kethsi (next update)

Strawpoll: Should Rune dragons be unaggressive (52% Yes)

Double XP in the abyss for runecrafting? That's nice but it means what, do all that clicking and micromanagement to barely break runespan XP rates and make a little profit? If anyone does abyss runecrafting (haha) what is the XP rate currently? I'm curious.

 

Beach party sounds good, particularly if they make it mostly available to F2P as advertised. It'll be something new certainly.
