the gp cap is based on the bit colour thing of runescape. if you read some dudes thread on runescape forums he clearly states that this bit colour has been change and the gp cap should be somewhere im the trillions i have no idea how he got this info :?

first of all, although many people have 2100m, alot of them don't, including me :oops: just give people loads of free money if you dont like it? :lol: I don't think there should be a money maximum....

Since the beginning of Runescape 2, the game has evolved greatly. Sure, 2100M was more than anyone could even fathom at the beginning of RS2, but today there are hundreds of players who have more than 2100M (the current gold cap on Runescape). It's time to increase this amount to something like 50-100 Bil, as it causes many players difficulties when they are unable to surpass the 2100M mark. This really would not be very hard to implement, and if it were only effective on P2P, it would give an added incentive for extremely rich players to maintain their membership, as they would be unable to acquire anymore gold pieces on F2P.

urrrrrm in case u didn't know this it is because of the java apllet runescape uses does not let you type a number which exceeds a certain point (try it on the offer x amount of money or items screen it cant exceed a certain point) which is about sumat like 2100m and therefore to change the money cap they would have to reprogram the game which would be extremely difficult and may cause many bugs glitches and could end up nackering the game. also Duke Freedom was one of the most well known richest in the game and his profits were only in excess of about 4bil before he was banned so why 100b thats ridiculous! nobody has that much and i doubt ever will

I'm really precise when it comes to computer science, as that's what I do for a living. I don't really care if no one cares (heh), but I cringed at the bad info on this post. Had to set it straight.

 

 

 

Personally, I'm wondering if the best idea is to just cast the signed int (database stored) into an unsigned int for processing, in game. That wouldn't require too much - a slight slowdown on the client side, perhaps. That way the database storage remains the same, and the backend doesn't have to be redone.

 

 

 

I don't know the RS client or server architecture, nor the backend schema, so I can't say for sure.

Big thanks to Swamp for giving an understandable explanation on why this cap has been input into the game. To all those saying there's only 5-10 players with 2100M, you are mistaken. Cursed, Angel, Ha12D, Clubber, Stevenxu, Duke (before the ban), myself, Ice Giant, Jeppoz, Geipe, Wp Sk8ordie are just a few examples of players who have enough money to hit the cap. There's many more to be named, and the number only increases everytime Rares go up. Like I said in the original post, players who currently have around 1.5 Phat Sets worth of stuff (even Zezima admitted to having around this amount of $) will be hitting 2 Bil in the next year.

I agree although I don't think i'll ever even reach the current cap. I'm havng a hard time making 1 mil lol. I support you but maybe if you can't get it raised do 1 of 2 things.

 

1-give me money so that you can earn more and u get the good feeling of making me happy lol

 

2-buy tons of items and have your wealth in items. You could just spend all your money on rares and keep them until they raise the gp cap. you could make billions this way

Logic - some people think merchanting is a skill, so, if that is the case what is the max level for a merchnting skill?- a money cap. Therfore I say keep the money cap until the max limit for skills is raised.
